Unseen Ghost
I walked through the long, impressive shelves, running my finger over all the volumes, feeling small compared to the big, imposing library. I selected several books, including a particularly interesting one on potion techniques, and sat down in a corner desk, where I could watch everyone that came and left the library, but no one could see me. The only other people in the library that I could see were a group of rowdy second years, of what house, I didn't pay attention. I felt happy. I was doing what I loved best; quietly reading in one of my most adored places in the world. A library. But there was a certain melancholy feeling inside of me. I was alone. Yes, I had chosen to be alone, but still, the very thought of having someone to share this moment with me made me brighten up a bit. 'Don't get sentimental' I thought, silently chastising myself. After all, friends are a bore. You have to pay attention to what they say, otherwise they are offended. And you have to remember obscure facts like, what is their favorite color, food, games, birthdays, what they don't like. It's better off to be without friends, I resolved. But I continued to watch the group of second years. They looked happy, laughing and what not. I found myself wishing that maybe, one day, I could be like them. Have friends. Be loud. One day, perhaps. But not today.
