Elzabeth was starting to warm up to the girls, no longer needing to bounce on her feet to talk to them. "My grandmother used to make scarves, she would send a whole box of them on Christmas. I have about a hundred from her, but making clothes must be way harder." Last Christmas all she got from Grandma was a card and a box of long scarves. Since her grandmother was home most of the days, it seemed to be the only thing she worked on so her family didn't have the heart to tell her they were starting to drown in yarn.

Elzabeth was a little happy that Margo wasn't as formal as she had come off the first time, She wasn't very good with manners besides the important ones. (when you burp say excuse me, say please and thank you, ect.) She never really had to be that formal, especially since she grew up in a muggle community.

"I'm not all that great with etiquette or anything like that. Also, your accents nice. Where's it from?" Teiki asked Margo.

Elzabeth had heard a lot of different accents from her time here, some she had only heard on the TV before coming here. Coming from a small town, there wasn't much variety in accents, but occasionally she would run into someone with an Irish or maybe even a Scottish accent.

"There are so many people here its hard to keep up." Elzabeth smiled, shrugging her shoulders.

"There are so many people here its hard to keep up." Elzabeth said. Teiki smiled, knowing that was very similar to how she felt about this new place. Overwhelmed. Very overwhelmed. It wasn't that they were trying to be. It was simply a large place, with a lot of students.
"Right? There are so many different accents, as well as cultures. It makes it hard to keep track of when trying to make friends. I never know if I'm accidentally going to offend someone." Teiki was sure it was bound to happen eventually. She also wanted to make some new friends. She hoped Elzabeth and Margo would become friends, but who knew?
For now, it was a nice conversation that they were holding. Teiki smiled, slightly impressed with herself. She had been so used to talking to her family, talking to strangers, especially people with different cultures unlike herself. She had never explored much outside of her hometown.
"It's also hard to figure how much someone knows about magic. People can easily get offended if you think they know nothing and explain everything to them." She had made this mistake many times when trying to help her sisters with their homework. Of course, that had been regular homework, without any magic, but it was the same concept.

"Well," Margo pondered Teiki's questions. "I've had a lot of practice because I've been making clothes for a while. I'm Scottish by the way. Where are you two from?" 

She surveyed Elzabeth and the Hufflepuff thoughtfully. They both seemed at odds with the vastness of Hogwarts, or maybe just the magical world in itself. Margo tried to recall her first days exploring the castle. Some of it had sparked her curiosity, of course, and she'd spent all her spare time roaming the halls and examining the coats of armour. However, she hadn't really been actually shocked by anything that was part of the castle itself. There had been times when she lost her composure, like when bats suddenly shrieked out of classroom doorways, but the great hall and its surroundings were very similar to their written descriptions. She also had no interest in the same, monotonous robes that all the students wore after about the first few hours. The people were the thing that she took most interest in, after mapping out the castle in her mind for a few weeks. The girls were spot on when they said that the castle overflowed with different types of magical personalities.

"You're right. The people at Hogwarts vary a lot. But if someone gets offended because you are not the same as them or they don't understand that you have a different a different background, then they're not worth your time." Margo smiled with Teiki, both of them pleased at the natural flow of speech between the three students.

"Scottish. That's cool. I'm from France." Teiki smiled. She had never been to Scotland, or met anyone that was Scottish.
"What's it like where you live?" Even if her family didn't live in Scotland, it would be cool to hear about any country really. Even different parts of France. She wondered how different life could possibly be. For one, people could be really used to magic and not feel very excited when coming to Hogwarts! She would be really surprised if she actually met one of those people. She felt comfortable enough with Elzabeth and Margo, so if they were one of those people, she'd still be friends (if she could consider them her friends. She wasn't sure how they felt about that), but would still be confused how someone could feel that.
"You're right. The people at Hogwarts vary a lot. But if someone gets offended because you are not the same as them or they don't understand that you have a different a different background, then they're not worth your time." Margo said, smiling at Teiki. Teiki smiled back.
"Yeah, that makes sense. It's hard to be friends with someone who offended whenever you do something.." Teiki smiled, trying to ponder how that would work.

Elzabeth had already been warned about the people in Hogwarts that would see their differences as horrible things by her father, whether they would pick on her from where she came from or her bloodline. Luckily though she had yet to run across anyone who would say such terrible things.

"Scottish. That's cool. I'm from France." Teiki smiled.

Elzabeth had thought Teiki had sounded french but on the off chance she had gotten it wrong, she had kept to herself. Now that she knew she was right though, she was scolding herself for being so scared. She had a tendency to do that and was hoping that her time here at Hogwarts would help her be more comfortable with herself.

"France, that must be lovely. Scotland too, I've always wanted to visit since I was a little girl." Elzabeth confessed, brushing hair out of her face. Elzabeth had some Irish in her, maybe a little bit of Scottish too so she always thought it would be cool to see where her roots came from.

"I'm from Bristol England, nothing too fancy or magical there." She sometimes wondered why her parents would live in such a city, especially since her father was a wizard but she had some suspicions it was because of her mother.

"Nothing too fancy there? Why any place that has magic is fancy in my book." Teiki smiled at the girl. She knew that technically Elzabeth could be Muggleborn, but she'd still technically have magic, so...
"Yeah. I think going to Hogwarts has been the only time I've ever really left France. It would be nice to explore more of Europe or anywhere really." Teiki smiled.
"Well, I was wondering if I could consider you two to be friends of mine. I'm not sure how you feel about that, but I've had a nice conversation..." Teiki rambled on, looking at the two girls. She had a few more things to do today, but she didn't want to be rude. If they said yes, they did want to be friends, she'd reply with; "Great! I hope to see you around and keep in touch. Is it okay if I leave, I have a few things I would like to get finished today. See you around!" She'd probably wave and leave. If they said that they didn't want to be friends, she'd say; "Well, it was a pleasant conversation. I've got to go, bye!" She would leave to Owlery.
After that, she would rush down the stairs. She wasn't lying when she said she had stuff to do. She just had never realized how long they had been talking. She hoped she would see Elzabeth in her classes and Margo when walking through corridors.

"Of course we can be friends Teiki, I'll see you around!" Elzabeth gave Teikis retreating form a wave, smiling the whole time. She seemed nice, it was a little relieving to have made friends in other houses even if one of them was a second year.

"I better be going to, there are a few more places in Hogwarts I want to check out before my classes start. It was really nice meeting both of you, we should talk again sometimes." Elzabeth looked at Margo, smiling before turning around.

She stepped out of the Owlery and onto the spiraling steps, not really realizing how weird it had smelt in there until she finally had some fresh air again.

She had left the Owlery that day feeling happy and ready to write back to her parents about today's events. She was sure her father would be happy that she was finally settling into a spot here at Hogwarts.

Now all she needed to do was find the Library, she was excited to see what type of magical books a place like this could hold. Certainly, witches and wizards had the best fantasy novels, especially if you could live them in real life.

"Friends." Margo said in agreement. Friends didn't mean that they had to love each other, right? She wasn't an expert, but Margo thought it useful to have at least some friends. She was still making up her mind about the two first years in front of her, but they weren't bad people. Margo was just a temperamental tween. It was best to keep her options open for now.

Her amber eyes sparkled with mischief when Elzabeth mentioned exploring the castle. "The dungeons are very charming." She remarked. "As is the caretaker's office in the north tower." Margo, of course, had rule breaking experience in both locations. However, she had yet to find out if the other two girls shared some of her troublesome tendencies. Rule breakers weren't usually hard to find in stimulating conversation, but the words they shared today had been mostly formalities, and not too much about their preferences on school rules.

"Well enjoy the rest of your day." Margo added her last words to the three students' brief exchange. Her words were another necessary formality, and she didn't have to like it for it to be useful. With that, Margo made her way back down to the hustle and bustle of Hogwarts, unaware that she would be seeing at least one of the two first years much sooner than expected.
