Elizabeth took the steps two at a time, eager to start playing with the snitch that she had bought. She knew that she should be careful but she could still be careless and forget. She had put gloves on since it was cold out and she was clutching the snitch in her gloved right hand.

Opening the door, she slipped in and closed it behind her. Unclenching her hand, she watched as the snitch fluttered for a moment and flew a short distance away before she reached out and grabbed it. She leaned cautiously against a wall and amused herself by repeating the process over and over.

As she yawned, her reaction was a second too slow and she leapt up, determined to not let the snitch get far. Luckily, she succeeded and clutched it in her fist. She knew that she was lucky to have caught it and that she might not be so luckily next time.

Relaxing a little, she resumed her previous activity and her gaze drifted out the window. Again, she jolted back, muttering to herself how bad she was at keeping attention to her activity at hand. Leaning forwards, her hand grasped thin air. On her second attempt, she caught it, just barely.

Stuffing her hands into her pockets, she leaned against the wall and closed her eyes, willing tears to not come. She was so bad at making sure it didn't escape. Why didn't she practice more often? She had no idea.

It was a rarity that Nicholas McCowan was in a good mood. Teenage angst had seemingly settled over him like a blanket and he’d gotten quite cozy underneath it. But not on this day, the sun was pleasant, he’d had a rather good morning, and he’d devoured lunch with the sort of wolfish hunger that only growing boys could muster. So he found himself wearing a very out of character sort of smile as he made his way up to the Owlery to write the mandated weekly owl back home.

He didn’t particularly look forward to speaking to his family, he never really did, but such was the way of things. His parents wanted to know he was safe and sound, and that meant that he needed to send the typical ‘hello, how are you, good’ letter. No doubt they wanted to know how his cute little girlfriend was going, and no doubt they would try to push him back into joining a sport. He couldn’t say he was looking forward to receiving the response, but it would be as it would be.

However, he was not alone in the owlery, and as he entered, he saw a younger girl leaning against the wall. He paused, blinked, and looked her up and down. She seemed rather emotional, but the reason for why, he could not gather.

“Oi, kid,” Nicholas asked, with all of the grace and decorum of a particularly well-mannered bull in a tea shop, “You crying?”

Alegria was exploring the grounds. So when she started classes, she knew where they were. She had gone outside to see the Quidditch Pitch but had gotten lost as she stumbled upon the Owlry
This isn't the Quidditch Pitch, I think it's the Owlry. Well, since I'm already here I might as well explore.
Alegria walked up the stairs, she heard voices.
Was there already someone there?
"You're going to be okay" She whispered to herself, "They are probably other students. Just wait down here until they come down and then you can go up."
Alegria got tired after 2 minutes. She walked out of the Owlry.
"Just go in there"She told herself, "They aren't going to be mean. But maybe they are, maybe they are like dating and they will get mad at me because I interrupted their alone time. Maybe they are professors and they will yell at me for being here. Oh be quiet Alegria. They probably could care less about you." She paced outside the Owlry for a couple minutes until she finally decided that she would go in.
You got this
She walked up the steps, but instead of mad professors or mean students, their was a boy and a girl, it looked like the girl was crying. "Is everything alright?"

Elizabeth looked up when a boy entered. Embarrassed, she wiped the tears from her face. No one needed to see her crying especially an older student. She needed to compose herself.

"No-" She stopped herself. Worrying made her switch which language she talked in for a moment. "No. I'm fine." She said, trying to convince herself that she was fine. Thrusting her hand into her bag, she let the snitch in before hurriedly withdrawing her hand and closing the bag.

A girl, a first year by the looks of it, entered. "Yeah, I'm fine." She said, responding to the girl's question. Inwardly, she was sobbing but outwardly, she forced herself to remain calm. Pushing herself from the wall, she perched on a window, looking out. If she stayed like this, her hope was that they would continue on their business. If not, well, she'd just stay here, enjoying the view.

She looped her fingers into a few belt loops on her pants. Sometimes she dug out her belt to wear. The first time it had come in handy had been last semester but that didn't matter. That was in the past, not now. Besides, today wasn't a 'belt' day for her, more like a 'lazy' day.

Avery didn't know what to do when she got to the Owlery. Well, she knew one thing. She was going to finally answer her cousin's letter. That was something she had put off for way too long, and she felt bad leaving him hanging. It's just that Avery didn't really know what to say. She hadn't seen her cousin in almost three years because of her mom, and now, out of the blue, he attempts to contact her. That's enough to render anyone thoughtless.

She sighed as she made the cold walk up the stairs. So stuck in her own thoughts that she didn't even realize how cold it was. She pulled her coat tighter around her, trying to trap in more warmth. As she walked inside, she was met by three other people. They were all older than her except for one girl. There was a girl with red hair that had her hands in her belt loops. To Avery, she looked slightly upset, but she was trying to hide it. Avery understood that feeling. She always had.

"Is everyone alright? What happened?" Avery asked the group of older students.

As she waited for them to respond, she decided to send her letter she had written. She was nervous, but she knew it was the right thing to do. She found an owl that seemed excited enough to travel the distance, so she attached the letter, and off he flew. Off into the world to send an important letter.
