It was one of those days, the day that came once every month, the Day Before the Full Moon.
It had been a long day for Oliver, the effects of his condition strengthen the closer the Full Moon is, and now, only hours away from having to stash himself into the Shrieking Shack, and live through a horrific transformation, then sit the night in sorrow and return like nothing had happened, he had taken the last moments in the castle that day to the Study Room. He had to prepare for classes the next day, knowing his fatigued, sickly self would barely focus no matter how hard he'd try. So, with his charm book in hand, and Potions, History of Magic, Defence Against the Dark Arts, queued up in a gigantic, towering stack neighbouring his piece of parchment on the bench, he got to work.
Scribbling messy notes on aged paper, dabbling his quill in ink till it nearly drowned, Oliver was using all the energy he had in him to fight against his condition, his eyes puffy and dark, skin pale in contrast like a plagued ghost. His head nearly fell on the bench several times, only jolting back up in the strain of his neck. His hands felt like anvils, every effort to move them across the page was huge.
What a terrible day.

The Day Before the Full Moon
Avis had been on the lookout throughout the day. Grey and she had found the date of the next full moon, being, well, today, and she was searching for Oliver. She hadn't planned on actually talking to him, at least not yet. She was planning on stalking him later that night. That was until she actually caught sight of him. He was "better" than the last time she had seen him, but it wasn't by much. His eyes were dark and puffy, and he hadn't even registered her double take as she passed him in the halls. She was unsure if he would make it to the night. That time she had been on her way to classes, but she scoured the castle yet again after her last class, catching a glimpse of him walking into a study room, arms heaping with books. Seriously? Was he really planning on studying? Avis watched him for a moment. He seemed barely able to hold up his pencil. Avis frowned a bit, before slipping out. First, she headed to the Owlery, sending a quick owl off to Grey.
She then slipped through the castle as quickly as she could, stopping periodically before returning to the study room. She quietly plopped herself down on a chair next to Oliver, quill in hand, and looked at him a moment, speaking softly so as to not disturb the other students in the room. "Do you know what a scribe is? I've asked [Professor] Regan, she says I can write for you since moving seems a bit difficult for you at the moment. Then you just got to say the answers instead of writing them."Grey-
Moving up our plans. Oliver's in the study room. I think he might be a zombie.
Permission from @MΓ©abh Regan to godmod the permission. Let me know if anything needs changing.

Note: Generally, when referring to teachers from a third-person perspective, school-age children (Gen Z, to be specific) only say their surname, so Avis would have referred to her as simply Regan, but since that could be confused with a first name I've added the brackets.

The Day Before the Full Moon
Time: right before 14:00Avis peered down in bleary dismay at the note partially soaked in her tomato soup. The owls really were getting progressively worse with their aim as the semester crawled on. Sighing to herself, the Ravenclaw set her spoon down on her napkin and picked up the said note by one of its dry corners, watching droplets of soup slide off the parchment and back into her bowl.
Once the piece of paper was dry enough for her liking, Avis carefully pried open the note and read the words scrawled onto the scrap of yellowing parchment. She narrowed her eyes as soon as her gaze fell upon the opening word. Grey.
Her strange name twin had at last contacted her about their moony muse. Half of Avis had wanted to forget about the whole thing but the other half was grinning madly at the note, desperate for her curiosity to be satiated.
Crumpling up the message, Avis stuffed it into her pocket and stared at the rest of her cold soup for a moment before clambering off the long bench of the Ravenclaw table. She was much too excited to eat now and she knew sheβd be sitting through Herbology chewing straight through her lip in anticipation the entire time. She swallowed her eagerness as she trudged out to the greenhouses, glancing up at the clear October sky for a moment as if the full moon was already hanging there in ominous anticipation.
. . .
Avis trudged up the last of the stairs to the second floor and turned down the hallway, her satchel hanging off her shoulder and her hair in disarray. Sheβd sprinted across the grounds and into the castle from Herbology, desperately hoping that she hadnβt missed the gathering in the Study Room.Time: around 15:30
Tousling her hair into place and hoping it didnβt look like sheβd been in a hurry, she pushed open the Study Room door and slipped inside, letting it click softly behind her. Immediately, she spotted the other Avis and to her surprise, sat right next to her was their zombie in question. He looked terrible as usual and Avis grimaced to herself.
She tried desperately to catch the other girlβs eye without being too obvious, making a subtle motion that she was going to sit across the room. There was no reason Oliver had to know that both of them were watching him and he hadnβt noticed her as of yet.
Avis slid into a seat a few meters away and pulled out her Herbology book, thumping it onto the desk and cringing at the noise. She wasnβt quite sure what their next plan of action would be. Nightfall was still hours away and the other Avis had clearly made herself known to Oliver. Was she planning on simply telling him their suspicions? What if he reacted poorly? What if he was more dangerous than they thought?
Avis spared a sly glance in his direction. The poor boy just looked exhausted. She couldnβt imagine him having the time or energy to care much about a pair of stalkers, much less getting ride of them before his supposed transformation.
She settled into her seat, waiting for the other Avisβ next move.Reducio@Avis Marlong | @Oliver Thorn
