I was just taking a stroll through the courtyard, looking at the beauty of the sky and the view around. Who didn’t love the outdoors? I mean, how could you not? Everything about it was amazing, I loved it. I may have gotten a little bit too distracted in a heart shaped cloud floating up in the sky and didn’t stop walking that I almost didn’t even notice the girl sitting against a tree in front of me!

I stopped right as my feet were inches away from hers. “Oh oops I’m sorry!” I said to the girl, even though I didn’t actually bump into her. Not saying sorry just felt wrong. I realized that she had a book in her hands, I peered down to look at it. The name sounded interesting, and I love books! Well, some books, maybe I’d like this one too.

“Ooh, what book is that? Is it good? What type is it?” I asked without hesitation, before realizing I almost ran over the girl. “I mean, if you don’t mind me asking” I said sheepishly, putting in a kind smile just in case. Well, I’d better hope she’s friendly.

Quinn loved reading. It just amazing! Quinn had decided to take her current book, a romance book, outside so she could enjoy the sun as well. Quinn had been deep in her book as she walked down to the courtyard and had definetly tripped a few times and may have walked into some students. Quinn had finally made it to the courtyard and had sat down against a tree. Quinn was really enjoying the book, two characters falling in love. Quinn didn't even notice when a girl about her age almost walked into her.
"Hmm? Oh it's fine." Quinn responded to the girl, looking up from her book. Quinn followed the girl's gaze to her book. As she asked another question Quinn renched herself from the world of her book.
"er- yeah, it's good. It's a romance book." Quinn replied.
"Naw, I don't mind." Quinn said smiling. The girl smiled back then sat down next to her.
"So, what's your name? Mine is Quinn." Quinn said, putting her book down. Quinn looked at the girl hoping she was nice. She didn't look familiar and so Quinn did was she usually did. Tried to guess her house. Maybe... huffelpuff? Quinn wondered. Quinn smiled at the girl again.

A wave of relief washed over Kie as she realized the girl was friendly. It’s not like she usually ran into people who were rude, but it was still always a worry in that mind of hers. She visibly smiled at the Ravenclaw in front of her, wanting to seem as nice as possible, especially after that near disaster.

“Ooh I love romance books, those are probably my favourite, they just have a really nice feeling to them” she said. It was true, Kie loved love books, everything about them. Maybe they could bond over them, who knows.

“Oh yeah. I’m Kiera, but you can just call me Kie if you’d like” she said, completely forgetting about introductions, pretty unlike her, she was pretty startled. “I’m a Hufflepuff by the way” she added.

Usually Kie was pretty good at small talk, so she kept talking “Are you a second year too?” she would start with that, not wanting to annoy Quinn away with too many questions at once. With her many conversations and years of making small talk at her parents parties, Kie had a million questions and concepts to talk about stores away in her brain that she could pull out at any moment. Maybe best to save a few for later.
