AEIOUSA𝔭rat sat cross-legged at the water's edge, the crunch of chips echoing politely between the sound of pages turning from his mother's gift, a book of poetry. However poems were the farthest thing on his mind this day, lost in thought his world blurred a little. His thoughts blurring the world around him as he found himself thinking about his friend, Ernest. He had finally found his long-lost mother. While Prat was happy for the goblin, for him it was a bittersweet victory. The realization that their friendship might change for the worse forever, or much worse come to an end with this newfound family bond frequently plagued his mind. Yet, his gain seemed far more important even to someone as unreasonable as Prat, just maybe, this new family was Ernest's one true chance at familial love and laughter like he knew the boy deserved.

With each page turning, Prat couldn't help but feel excitement at the prospect of his future. About his father's recent career shift. The just yet loving man had traded his auror's cloak for the mantle of the family business, bringing the Pass house a sense of stability that Prat hadn't felt since he was a much younger child. His father's newfound presence was a warm constant at home, a stark contrast to the late nights and distant worries that had once defined his mother's relationship with the Man he was.

The child, would it be a brother or a sister? Would they too share his love for the outdoors and the quiet whispers of the night? Would they too, sit by the lake with the same book of poems. Prat's musings were gently shattered by the sound of footsteps approaching from behind. He didn't bother to look up, yet, as the footsteps reached the edge of his personal space, they paused. He took a deep breath, closing said book as he began to look towards the source, giving them a general look over.

OOC Note:
  • @Eleanor Rowan, go crazy with this rp. Minimum word count is 200 and quotes such as dialogues do not count.
  • Slight godmod perms allowed for Eleanor, i.e. you can define Prat's actions a bit or have him do something like greet her or Engage in a slight conversation. (owl me if you wish to write him some dialogues.)
  • Perms taken from Ernest Baird's writer to mention their character.

Eleanor stopped a few steps to the side of the older boy sitting by the water's edge. She had decided to come out here, bundled up in her thickest cloak and with her current read under her arm, to read alone for a little while, but since her desired spot seemed to already be occupied she might as well take the chance to make a new friend.

"Hi, would you mind if I sat here?" She asked, but didn't wait for him to answer. With a small huff of breath, she folded her legs under her and mirrored the boy's position on the ground.

"My name is Eleanor, but if we become friends you can call me Elle or Ellie or something else, I'm not that picky really." The words left her quicker than she wanted, but her nerves tended to get the better of her when meeting new people and that sometimes resulted in a severe case of word vomit.

She placed her book in her lap, a shining new copy of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', resting her hands on top of the cover. "What's your name?" She asked, turning her head to look at him. Her cheeks and nose had already become slightly rosy from the fresh air and a slow, friendly smile spread on her lips. She took in his appearance while waiting for him to say something, anything really. He was possibly one of the most handsome boys she had met so far and she suddenly felt like her flushed cheeks weren't just because of the fresh air.

"You're Slytherin, right?" Eleanor lifted a hand to gesture to the boy's uniform, noting the green accents. "My dad was sorted into Slytherin when he went here, too."

AEIOUSA𝔭rat's eyes flickered up ,his solitude now gently disturbed by an unexpected presence. "Hi, would you mind if I sat here?" she asked, but she had already made her decision before the question could fully form in his ears. He felt a tab bit surprised and a touch of annoyed at her presumptuousness. With a small, almost imperceptible nod, he allowed her to join him. Prat couldn't help but feel a bit unsettled, his solitude now having to share space with this stranger.

"Eleanor is fine," he responded with a polite tone, his eyes meeting hers as he gave her a quick nod without looking at her. Her assumption of friendship was curious, almost amusing to him, with the simplicity it carried. Prat however was indifferent towards her. He maintained the polite façade with her, the corners of his mouth curled slightly in a smile that barely touched his eyes. This was his silent acknowledgment of the social dance that had just begun. Her presence was uninvited, yet not entirely unwelcome.

As Eleanor mentioned her father's Slytherin affiliation with a sense of pride that shined from her very core. Prat felt the hints of a mischief within him. He decided to toy with the girl."I understand why you would assume so," he began, his voice smooth as the pages of his book, "But let me correct you, I'm actually a Hufflepuff," he said, watching her expression for any sign of disbelief or surprise. "Just borrowing these from a Slytherin friend for the day," he added with a smirk, the lie slipping off his tongue with a practiced ease. "You see, it's the consequences of a bet gone wrong. The snakes, as it turns out, are truly as brilliant as they're rumored to be."

Eleanor's mouth pulled up into a surprised smile and a soft laugh left her. "Really? That's so much fun, I'm a Hufflepuff too." She gestured to the front of her cloak, before remembering that it was a plain black one with no house crest. She pulled at her yellow and black scarf instead.

Her book slid of her lap while she grinned at the boy, excited at the prospect of making a new friend from her own house. He did seem a little standoffish, but Eleanor was determined to get out of her shell and push her own boundaries, now that she was finally at Hogwarts after years of anticipation.

"What was the bet about? And what would have happened to you friend if you had won?" She reached down and picked up her book without taking her eyes of him while the questions flowed from her in a steady stream of nervous rambling. She had always been a little awkward at socializing, so it had been both a blessing and a curse to grow up on her family's estate. Surrounded by the people closest to her, but never learning how to make friends other than her cousins.

"Huh." Eleanor paused and sat up straight again, her fingers stroking the spine of her book. "You didn't actually tell me your name, I don't think I've noticed you in the common room." Her head quirked to one side and color spread on her cheeks. "I think I'd have noticed you, I'm a watcher." Her lips parted in a small o and her eyebrows raised, surprised by how her words came out. "Not in a creepy way, just, I'm better at watching people than talking to them, obviously..."

AEIOUSA𝔭rat took a few moments as he contemplated the perfect lie. It had to be something plausible, something she would buy without question. The bet, of course, had been about nothing, there was no bet. But that was certainly not a truth for her ears, especially hers. "oh ofcourse, the bet," he began, a mischievous twinkle in his eye as he watched her expectant gaze. "It was all in good fun, really. If I had won, my Slytherin friend would've had to don Hufflepuff colors for the next broom race," he said, keeping his voice light and casual. The absurdity of this claim would make it all the more believable.

Prat's mind raced, going through his memories trying to come up with the names for one of the hufflepuff dorms. "oh yes i never told you my name, my name" he mused, nodding his head barely. "Kayden Break" he said, hoping the unusual surname would be enough to throw her off his true identity. "And my dorms are," he continued, "I've been bunking in the Scamander Suite. It's a bit of a cool people spot." The lie rolled off his tongue with surprising ease. He felt a strange mix of excitement at the deception and fear that she might see through it.

The irony was amusing, here Prat was, lying through his teeth yet Eleanor was the one admitting to being a 'watcher'. He couldn't help but find that amusing. Choosing to keep playing it cool, he engaged her in conversation again. Prat's mind chuckled at her self-deprecating remark. "Creepy, really?" he said aloud, a gentle tease in his voice. "Well, that is one way to put it,"
