Last year’s duel had made it clear: Stay out of Duelling.

In her attempt to try and return to the sport that she had loved before, the one that she had put her everything on, her time, her effort, Raizel had taken on a few duels to try and get her back in shape. It was a necessary move to force herself back into becoming more experienced with her spellcasting, in her quest of growing stronger. She hoped she would still have what it takes but boy she was wrong. On her return, she was faced with reality once more, that she is still just as pathetic, just as weak or perhaps, even worse. Disappointing, heart breaking. The message was loud and clear.

Stay out and never return.

Well, she still did, keeping her status as Duelling Co-Captain but now, she is starting to question it more, if she should step down if this keeps up, not feeling like the title suits her but that’d just be another loss, right? At least while holding on to it, she can say that she still has a chance to become a duellist no matter how much she fails and that her grandmother won't say she's a failure at it. A chance to improve, to be better, to be stronger. It's those thoughts that made her hold on to it no matter how beaten she is, how broken she is. She just has to keep moving forward even if she is pushed back.

“That's rich coming from someone who punched me.” Raizel told Prat with that cheeky grin, hiding all those disappointments behind a smile that no one should ever see break. She hates her broken self, the reason why she hides it. Zach saw it, a mistake really for she doesn't want him to see. She doesn't want anyone to see it. Not her family, especially not her close friends. A vulnerable and crumbling side… no, she must remain strong. She must stay as this determined, stubborn and steadfast Gryffindor that they see almost everyday. That’s why she accepted this duel in the first place despite the warnings. She stood on the opposite side of the piste, a hand on her wand. She can feel it shaking, a combination of adrenaline and perhaps fear of messing up again but she stood her ground with that unwavering courage.

Can she break free from her fate of being a failure, even just once? That she doesn't know but she sure hopes that she could.

Evening, 7 January, 2025...

With the second sporting event on it's sweet way, that too on the second day of Prat's return to hogwarts, this could not get less uninteresting for him. Over the winter break, this young lad had acquired a few new interests. Some less violent than the others. Prat had met Alyssea and Raizel previously for a broom race, one which went as good as you could expect from him. Prat wasn't the broom racing aficionado as compared to his interest in duelling or even quidditch. For the peaceful winter break he had spent in muggle world had changed his tastes.

However, much of this thinking had to be on backburner when the duel began, both Raizel and Alyssea came out with spells that Prat had been both a witness as well as a victim too. He wouldn't choose to be hit with either if it was in his hands. Fortunately for Alyssea, her nimble footwork kept her going as she easily dodged Raizel's rectusempra, the spell flying away and fizzing to it's own death, Aly's spell however was much more effective, so was her aim. This however did not deter Raizel as she nearly dodged her spell, only to get hit by her mimblewimble at the last second.

Prat yawned a little, none of this much exciting to him, he wished to go back and play all those muggle games he had enjoyed with his cousin during the time of his grounding. Stifling a yawn he began "Good work you two, great choices of spells."this was something he had picked from muggle commentators who would cheer upon the players in this sport called "basketball". To Prat it was a frivolous game, a group of men chasing a singular ball seemed boring on paper, however those videos on "tube something" thingy on that weird big contraption had managed to catch his attention.
