Duel InformationReducio1 | You have No deadlines. Please send your actions via owl/dm whichever you prefer. As soon as both actions and posts are in, I can immediately start the moderation but there will be slow times. Since this is an unofficial duel, your minimum word count is 200 words (site rules apply of course). If you see any mistakes on the mod post, feel free to point it out or ask questions. I don't bite. (maybe)
2 | This isn't a normal duel so there are 'House Rules' presents along with the current duelling system. Some things are modified only for this game. The rules are below inside the reducio. If people need clarifications, feel free to DM me as this system is still underworks and I might've missed things.
Overview
ReducioSequence of ActionAction Duel is a fast paced duel (for narrative) that tests the physical and mental capabilities of duellists unlike regular duels. The goal is to simulate a battle scenario and encourages every duellist to use every resource they have, even their fists. This is a mean to train others as well, prepare them as danger seems to be lurking around every corner. Don't give your opponents the time to catch their breaths. Ready, Action Duel!
Goal
The goal is to defeat your enemies by reducing their HP to 0 or knocking them out of bounds. Duels last for 10 rounds. The team with the highest HP percentage wins in case the duel reaches the max limit of rounds.
Rules
1. -1 ACC for every 2 units between an attacking player and a target. Only applicable to targetting spells if the spell hits
2. A player receives a +5 Acc while attacking when there is no unit between a target but takes half of the dmg from the spell and half of the debuff (rounded up) for the duration of the spell effect
3. Moving is a free action unless actively dodging to a certain direction (It takes a whole action to do)
4. Cannot cross the border
5. Players must indicate the direction they are moving if they choose to do so (left, right, front, back, diagonal left/right, diagonal back left/right)
- In case of knockbacks, they are considered stunned, voiding their movement phase for the current round
6. Players can choose to move 1 unit per round
7. Players are allowed to move Diagonally
8. Starting points on the red side are 2A, 2B, 2C and on the blue side are on 5A, 5B, 5C
9. An added direction can be chosen while actively dodging (eg. actively dodging to the left etc.)
10. Players cannot target other players BEHIND another one and will result for the attack to hit the one blocking (This is the new Body Block Mechanic).
11. Players behind another Player cannot attack someone without risks. Doing so, they have a 50% chance to hit their teammate instead of their target
12. Active Dodging + Body Block: this happens when a player takes an active dodge to move in front of a player for a body block. This allows them to actively dodge an attack coming for them and take the incoming attack for the other player being blocked
13. Retrieving wand expends a whole action and must be on the same unit as the wand. Players already in the unit where it is dropped has a 10% chance to catch it and give it immediately the same round
14. Players standing on the edges of the field has a chance of being knocked out of bounds when hit by a damaging spell. (Arc of Caster Vs Str of target). Out of Bounds players are considered as defeated.
15. Str dmg reduction is added only when using the Brace AP effect
16. When a player is pushed back into another player, a Str check is performed by the player (Collision DC = Avrg Str of team + 10)
- On success, the player being pushed back is caught and remains on their unit. Failing will result to both getting pushed back 1 unit + collision dmg (DC-rolled result*5 to both players). DC is rounded down
- Players about to be pushed out of bounds due to collision are automatically out of bounds
ReducioAction Points
- Healing Spells
- Action Points Usage and Effects or Recovery when not used
- Active Dodging
- Spells/Grapple/Escape/Rush
- Movements
- Retrieve wand
ReducioActionsAction Points: Action Points are resources that players can recover every round that it's not used. This allows players for additional actions like casting a secondary spell or boosts.
Max AP points of players is 5 + 1 for every 5 points in Wis. Players starts with 3 AP at the beginning of the duel.
AP Effects takes place the same round they are used and ends before the next round.
Spell casts throught this effect just acts as an additional and spells effects still takes place on the next round till duration or nullified.Note: As of now, you can only choose 1 Action Point Effect to use in a round
- Cast another spell - 5 AP
- Boost Magical Power by focus, adding a 1 unit knockback to damaging spells - 4 AP
- 10% Dmg reduction (stacks with other dmg reductions) + 5% per 3 points in Str (rounded up) - 3 AP
- Focus for +2 Wis - 3 AP
- Channel Magical Powers for a +2 Arc - 4 AP
- Gut Punch an opponent directly infront of you to reduce their wis, eva, acc by 2 for this round - 5 AP
- Brace to be immune to knockback - 5 AP
ReducioSpellsPush: A player can push back another player 1 unit towards the direction they are facing.Rush: Attacking a rushing player gives the attacker an advantage on their Acc roll. The rushing player moves up to 2 units and immediately go for a grapple/tackle on a target near the border.
- Being pushed gives the pushed player an advantage in their Eva roll for an incoming attack but the pushed player's action and movement are considered invalid and 20 fall dmg (they get back up at the end of the round)
- Pushing can nullify Immobulos effect
- Pushing can save someone from a grapple but must be adjacent to them
- Cannot Push a Grappling Player
Grapple: When an opponent is directly in front of a player, they can choose to grapple (Acc VS Eva)
- This is considered as a full action so players won't be able to cast spells or make other movements
- Rushing while there is another player in front of them pushes them to the left of right and they take 20 fall dmg (recovers immediately and doesn't void actions of the pushed character)
Escape: Escape a grapple (Str VS Str)
- On success, the grappling and grappled player's Eva is halved (rounded up) and is unable to take any action aside from escaping for the grappled player and hold/release for the grappling player. (Str Vs. Str)
- Any Player attacking the Grappled Player gets an advantage on their Acc roll but has a 30% chance to hit the grappling player
- Muggle Condition gives Bonus to the Acc check for grappling
- Martial Artist gives +3 to Str for holding a player
- Grappling Players are pushed back 2 units when the grappled player escapes. In case the grappled player was pushed by a teammate, the grappling player remains on the unit they are on
- When attacked, the Grappling Player must perform a Wis check (Opponent team avrg Wis + 10)
- On Success, the Grappling Player can use the Grappled Player as a Shield. If the attack has a knockback (spell, tackle), the grappling player gets pushed by 1 unit and releases the grappled player. This still happens whether it was the grappled player or the grappling player that is hit.
- Keen Eye gives the Grappling Player a 10% chance to auto succeed and notice the attack.- On Crit Success of the grapple action, additional +3 to str check
Tackle: This can only be used when rushing. Acc Vs. Eva to hit.Action Dodge: Actively dodging towards a certain direction (left, right, front, back)
- On success, the target player takes dmg (str of user*5+50) and is pushed back 1 unit. A base roll above 15 makes it 2 units instead of 1
- On Crit Success, pushback is 3 units
Cast a Spell: The standard list of spells are the duelling spells with some additional spells that are listed below. Some spells are modified a bit to give additional fun effects.
- Note: Body Block Action is removed and instead takes place if a player is in front of their teammate
ReducioAdditional/modified effectsImmobulus - Acc Vs Eva to hit. Eva is reduced to 0, unable to move. Last for the whole duel unless attacked, pushed by a teammate or countered by the general counter spell. A str vs arc is performed to break free from it. Cannot be used twice in a row on the same personDepulso - Acc Vs. Eva to hit. A player is pushed back 3 units. If player is about to be out of bounds, perform an Out of Bounds check
- Crit Success, attack on the player is an auto-hit
- Crit Fail, apply it to the caster
Accio - Arc vs Str for success. Upon success, the target's wand is yanked away from the owner, pulled forward 1 unit. In case the wand would fall beyond the border, it'll land on left or right side (to be determined by roll)
- Crit Success, no Out of Bounds Check and the player is immediately knocked off of the field. Brace can save the player
- Crit Fail, sends the Caster back 3 units
- No crit success and fail effect
ReducioAdded/Changed AbilityFlipendo - has a 10% chance to knockback a player when hit by 1 unit
Expelliarmus - wand is dropped to a random direction to be determined by dice roll (left, right, back, front)
Tarantallegra - 10% chance to end up in a random unit at the end of each round its active
Fumos - affects the whole field (all 6 players)
Nebulus - Applies only to the opponents side of the fieldReducioNote: If it makes it easier, you can just read the one on the google sheet that I sentBlindvision - Grants full immunity to fogs, blindfold (Trial phase)
Martial Artist - Gives a +3 to Str Checks of Grapple (Trial phase)
Keen Eye - 10% to auto notice an attack while grappling an opponent, can immediately retrieve wand after being disarmed without moving to the unit at the beginning of next turn (Trial phase)
Muggle Condition - +3 to non-magic attacks and active dodge
Spell Spread - No auto-fail counter, instead, limiting use to 3 times in a duel and can only target additional players adjacent to first target by 1 unit (Trial phase)

❂《 ⌜ November 30, 2024 ▎ Afternoon ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Raizel had been thinking for quite some time now ever since that ‘duel’ she had with one of the Duelling Captains, Prat Pass and with her having troubles sleeping, it was nice of her to spend that energy trying to come up with things that could make duelling ‘interesting’. After her experience with Broom Racing and Quidditch, Duelling feels like it lacks things to do aside from shooting spells, dodging spells, rinse and repeat until the time limit is reached or render people on the opposite side of the field unconscious. You stand there and hope for the best.
It was thrilling at first, don’t get her wrong but after some time and given the taste of a different kind of thrill in racing and Quidditch, Raizel began to crave the same thing but in duelling but with how the current system is, she doubts it’ll give her what she is seeking. So instead, she made a game and a good training too since she just asked one of the duellists in the Gryffindor team, Evelynn Decipio, to try it out and surprisingly enough, she agreed. Aside from her, she offered it to fellow duelling captains, Lea Hirsch, Prat Pass, and the newly appointed, Alyssea Brown. She told them it might be fun, a good way to test out things or just to train not just their spell casting but their bodies as well. The theme was duelling in both mind and body after all.
She extended that invitation to other sports captains, Rebecca Lark and June Selwyn. Becca, she knows. Ravenclaw girl she duelled before (Raizel lost to her by the way) and she had invited Raizel for her very first Quidditch match before. June, however, is not someone that she knows that well. All she knows is that she’s a broom racing captain like her cousin, Alyssea and since the game had certain spells from the said sports, her opinion would be pretty much appreciated. Not to mention, it’s also good to meet other people from other sports.
Since this was not your ordinary duel, while the others had agreed to test it out, she was still worried that they wouldn't actually show up on the day of the game. Then again, it’d be understandable. They are busy people having no time to participate in a duelling game that strays away from the official rulesets. But still, she waited there in the duelling club, near one of the piste while still deep in thought. Even if no one wants to try it out in the end, she was still keen on developing it in hopes of it becoming something fun to do in the future, even if it’s just for some training for the duellists in her house team. If people ever showed up, she would greet them with the warmest smile she could muster, showing her appreciation to give this game a try. Once all of the participants for this game are present, that will be the time to get this show started.

AEIOUSA𝖕rat had met Raizel during a duel and had then even moderated one for her, though he wasn't sure why she would invite him for a "fun game" as she put it, or at least that is how he remembered their conversation regarding it. Prat was sure there were going to be several other people. What he was not aware of however, was the participants Rai had invited. This was Prat's small fish in a big pond moment as he recognized the people Rai had managed to rope in her little game.
Prat was still unclear about the rules and all the things around it, yet, just the idea of it being Duelling related was enough for him to Agree. Duelling had become one of Prat's most sought after activities in school after his classes and the multiple attempts to get back into his groove as a pianist. This however also meant his time to relax stretched thinner with each passing day. With his running streak of losing duels one after the other, he believed this could be a nice change of pace for him. Somewhere he did not need to count and calculate all the steps he had to take but rather one where he could let loose.
Prat wandered towards the club room, ready to take on whatever trouble could come his way. Being the weakest link in his team currently, he knew what he was signing up for. A hypothesis confirmed true when he witnessed those in the opposition as well as those on his side. He knew he was cooked before the game even began. Fortunately, he was not one to back down from a challenge if it meant going out of his way. Furthermore he was promised he could attempt more actions than the usual duelling allowed, a rule that quite enticed him into joining.
He wondered all the things he could do between the time of his arrival and the actual game beginning. Was punching allowed? He had certainly done that to Raizel before, perhaps the act of tackling was one he could attempt? A similar feat he had witnessed before, albeit unsuccessful. He wondered what else he could pull of in the short time he had to survive the potential onslaught that may come his way once this game began, and if he'd even be alive to witness the end of this game.
With the rest of the duellists pouring in, Prat gave them a nod or a Hi, as a form of acknowledgment for their presence. Most were people he had already seen or talked to except one. He contemplated doing an introduction only to brush this idea aside and focus his mind to the game ahead of him. He brought out his wand, giving the trusty equipment a lookover as he waited for Raizel to go over whatever rules or notes he wished to proceed with, after all he was still expecting something duelling adjacent.

Action Duel!
What was a bit more time in the duelling club? From her own spell practice for classes to practice duels to teaching or moderating for others, Lea spent most of her time within this room, all too familiar with the stone walls, heavy doors, and rolling targets. It was likely that in was in this very room that Raizel brought up this alternative practice, a more physical test than the mental Lea was used to. She had to admit that it was intriguing, aware that she lacked on that side. So long as the Hufflepuff never got hit she was okay, but the first strike only meant a rocky and quick descent to unconsciousness. Waking up to the blank canvas that was the Hospital Wing was a habit the Fifth Year eventually hoped to break, although she suspected one practice would not be enough to change that.
Still, it would be a start and it was nice to see Raizel getting back into duelling after their struggles. Still a broom racer now, but clearly the Gryffindor still held some interest in the sport if she applied for captainship. How nice it was witnessing all these younger years come in with their enthusiasm and creative ideas, not yet stuck in the bog or perhaps far better skilled at getting out of the bog before it sunk their motivation. She would have to take notes from them one day.
Lea arrived, glancing about the space for any people she recognized. This time around, there would actually be an unfamiliar face, although she was pleasantly surprised by her co-captain and by one of the Slytherin captains joining Raizel's group for this new practice. The Fifth Year would waste little time before getting ready, curious as to how this would turn out. It would be nice to secure a win as well, but even just seeing the test in motion while maintaining consciousness would be a welcome start. Perhaps it could even be expanded to a more regular practice for the teams-

| Ten days ago, Alyssea got the news that she successfully passed to be one of the next Hufflepuff Duelling Captains since Julian was stepping down. Not that Alyssea knew him personally, but last she checked, he was a captain since she was a First year, so there was a mountain of respect she had for him. It was similar to how she felt stepping into the Racing Captain shoes once George stepped down. Gods, she would never stop feeling like this, would she? The sheer anxiety of filling such big shoes. Anyways, the scream she let out was probably very ugly, and her roommates probably hated her for it, but the excitement couldn't be contained. Yet another captaincy to add to her growing list of accomplishments. Lilliana would be proud. However, that also meant people would bug her about even more duelling moderation on her off days. That was fine, of course. What she didn't anticipate was agreeing to a game of duelling with a bunch of house rules that her cousin, Raizel, made. Alyssea felt woefully unprepared and very self-conscious. This would be her first duel since becoming a captain, so surely there would be expectations people would have of her coming into the place. As long as she didn't disappoint anyone, then maybe it would be fine. |
