❂《 ⌜ December 8, 2024 ▎ Around 9 AM ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔From flying a broom to spellcasting practice. Toss in a couple of Homework and secret studies to keep her grades up and then her sports responsibilities. Aside from that, there were times where Raizel would just forget the time after putting in so much focus on reaching her goals. To become stronger, to get better at spellcasting, to learn how to defend herself properly and to have the ability to help others when disaster strikes like the one in Hogsmeade. She had been working hard on that not just because she wanted to prove herself to her grandmother that she can reach something but rather because of her own desire to help and protect, to prevent seeing those tears fall from her friends’ eyes due to horrible incidents. While she is aware of how impossible this feat is, she’d rather have the ability to do something than nothing.
With only little time to rest, add in those nightmares she had been getting preventing her from getting a good night sleep, she was bound to reach her limit sooner or later but she won't admit that. Admitting it would mean she is weak and she doesn't want that. She only has a small pride left due to her constant loss in duelling, she can't have it all get taken, even if it means putting on a facade that she's fine, that she doesn't need rest. But boy, she sure would learn that the hard way. She wasn't an extraordinary being, she was no superhero like those comics that she saw back in her muggle grandparents’ home before. She was only a 14 years old human yet she keeps on forcing herself. What else could she do though? Working harder is the only way to reach that goal of hers with how far behind she is. All those years of practicing yet she couldn't see her improvements which is making her rush things. Adding more to it was that incident in Hogsmeade. Tragedies like that won't wait for one to be strong enough to face it.
Hurry, you're too far away, you’ll never be able to do anything… Those words echoed in her mind and she hates the fact that it's right. She is too far away, too weak to do anything and it frustrates her so much. She had kept it in check, that disappointment of hers, hiding it behind a smile and carefree attitude but whenever she's alone with her thoughts, it always haunts her along with what her grandmother said.
Unfortunately that's beyond for someone with tainted blood as hers…
Stop it…
I doubt you have enough magic capabilities in you to handle it nor be competent enough for it…
What does she know about her? About what she could do? She can achieve her goals. While yes, she had stepped down from being a duellist but heck, she got the position as duelling co-captain, isn’t that proof enough that she could reach something?
It's not for a half-blood Voltrouz like you…
“Aaaahhhh, shut up!” Raizel shouted as she kept her broom steady, doing some laps around the Quidditch training pitch and trying to keep her mind calm and focus steady but as time passed by, that was starting to get harder. She was already feeling unwell when she woke up earlier but she had tried to ignore it and insisted on doing her usual training. Her vision wasn't that great due to lack of sleep and rest but she can't have that from stopping her. That was a mistake however for if only she didn't force herself then she would probably be back in their dorm and resting up and not on her way to the hospital wing after a failed landing attempt.
Everything hurts after that and of course her first thought was to get herself to the hospital wing and maybe get some healing paste or something for those bruises of hers from her tumbling on the ground and then she could go back to training or maybe even just do some spellcasting instead because clearly, flying practice isn't the right choice. Not like spellcasting is any better though. What she needs is rest, a good night's rest and a time to relax, to recover. But considering how stubborn she is, she would refuse, insist that she doesn't need it and that she can keep going. Hopefully when she gets there, they won't notice and would be too focused on the bruises instead or maybe it’d be so crowded that they’ll just give her a quick treatment and send her on her way. There are better things to do than lying in bed all day.
She checked the hospital wing first, peeking through the door, wanting to make sure that there were only a few people in there before making her entrance. Hope she doesn't run into people that she knows. She has a couple of friends working as healing interns and she sure doesn't want getting caught by them when it comes to doing reckless stuff.

@Raizel Voltrouz
Another morning, another day. Zach was enjoying breakfast and his silky puddings in the Great Hall. It was his happy meal, he could say, the meal could make him happy for twenty-four hours. With a contented stomach, he took his satchel and went to the Hospital Wing to do his internship. He was really happy with the program since he learnt many things there. His happiness was doubled, from the food and the internship.
His steps could be heard in the corridors. Small jumps and hum, Zach went to the Hospital Wing with elation. On his way, he sometimes checked if the students did something bad. He was a prefect after all and he should make sure that everything around him was free from any problem or rule breaking.
His hand finally touched the big doors of the Hospital Wing. With a push, the boy entered the place. The place was the same: same position, same atmosphere, and same color, until his eyes caught someone familiar. “Raizel?” Zach tilted his head. Didn’t bother to put down his satchel first, the boy immediately approached the girl. “What are you doing here?" the boy asked with concern on his face.
After five months doing the internship, his eyes now could automatically observed anyone who entered the place. His eyes looking at the girl from head to toe to take a quick conclusion if the girl was okay or not.

❂《 ⌜ December 8, 2024 ▎ Around 9 AM ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔She flinched just upon being called. If it was someone else, she wouldn't be reacting this way but it just… have to be him that found her. Well, maybe that's a lot better than Alyssea finding her here and seeing her bruised up body but still, of all people, why does it have to be someone that she considers as a close friend. No, she doesn't want them to see her doing reckless things, much more, the horrible outcome of it. Her desperation. This is a side that they don't need to see, a side that she's willing to hide under a mask.
Now what? What should she do?
Raizel took a deep breath before facing him as he approached him, showing that usual smile she had been showing them for years now although this time it looked a lot more exhausted than ever. “Hey. Uh, just a… blunder during practice.” She answered him, taking a couple of steps back, feeling his gaze on her. “I'm fine… just a couple of bruises.” She assured him but those labored breaths don't sound convincing at all but that was just because she is tired right? Hopefully, the bruises would catch most of Zach’s attention, not her paler complexion nor the look of exhaustion on her face. Hold on, has her vision always been this blurry? She had to squint just to have a good look at Zach before shaking her head. When did her temperature started to rise, her body feeling like it's getting heavier as time goes on.
A step back, and then another, until she needed to lean on something or else she could fall. Oh, that's not good, she's not actually convincing him that she's fine right now. Get it together because no, she refuses to admit it, to accept it. Limits? There's no way she had reached hers, there is no way she had gotten sick. “Sorry, lost my balance there…” she apologized, forcing herself to stand up straight. “But yeah… I think I just need to get these… bruises treated. They kind of hurt and I’ll be off.” She forced a grin on her face.

@Raizel Voltrouz
His eyes told him that the girl definitely not okay. As he listened to her more, the boy couldn't help to be more worried. "I see." The bright smile he had before entering the Hospital Wing just began to face. Still, he tried to gave the girl a smile. "Let me check them. I can put some Bruise Healing Paste. Let's go." But before he even took a step to lead her to the Nurse station, he witnessed the unsteady state of the girl. It was very much unlikely to happen to her but there she was, leaning on something to prevent herself from falling. "You're definitely not okay." The intern quickly supported Raizel but this act made him feel the warmth of the girl's skin. His worry increased and it made him exclaim, "You're warm!" Followed by a sigh, Zach continued, "Treating your bruise only won't make you better. Let's get you a bed." Zach forced her even if she insisted that it was not necessary to do. "Please." He added it.
Zach supported Raizel to a bed near the spot where they stood, choosing the most comfortable bed in the room. No one should know how he could find it but he had his way. "Lie down on this bed. I will get some things first." After making sure Raizel was all comfy, Zach went to the Nurse Station. His mind rushed to think what should he do, what thing he must take, and how to keep calm. The accident in Hogsmeade taught him to take everything calmly in any situation, just like how Raizel helped him through the traumatic scene in the place. "Come on, brain. Keep working," he said to himself. His eyes stared at the table blankly.

❂《 ⌜ December 8, 2024 ▎ Around 9 AM ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔You're definitely not fine…
Words that she doesn't want to hear from anyone, words that she refuses to refer to herself. What are they talking about? No, they are wrong, she's fine, she's doing well, she's okay. But before she could even protest, the Ravenclaw boy was already there, ready to support her. “No, it's okay-” It was already too late to push him away. She gritted her teeth, looking away and clicking her tongue out of frustration. They weren't directed towards Zach but more on herself for showing this weak side of hers. Aren't her failures enough to show how weak and pathetic she is? Do people have to see her in this sorry state to satisfy this cruel fate of hers that she's not able to break free from?
There was no use in fighting back and she certainly can't with how tired she is and not after Zach saying please. Ah, right, the fact that a simple ‘please’ from her close friends could sway her almost immediately is scary for her. When she was led to a place to rest, her body wanted her to flop down and sleep for maybe a week or so. An exaggeration but with how hard she had been working, that is acceptable. Still, she refuses to do so. Others can keep going with their countless responsibilities, surely she can as well when all she has is just sports activities and her own studies and training. “I’ll be fine.” She kept on insisting, sitting down on the side of the bed. If she lays down now, she'll be wasting precious time of practice, of training.
You're too far behind, you can't rest.
Raizel's grip tightened around the bed’s soft fabric, her head lowered and gaze on the floor. Stand up, leave, there was no time for rest, she can take care of her own bruises. She has spells to treat them with, yes. She can tell that to Zach so she doesn't have to bother him. Looking at the boy, he seems to be lost as well or maybe just having a hard time looking for things. This should at least save him the trouble. Despite all those thoughts, the things that she wanted to do, her body refuses to do so. It wants to rest but she doesn't. It wants to take a break but she doesn't.
Move!
Oh, her body moved alright, but not the way she wanted. Before she even knew it, she was already lying down, her eyes feeling so heavy. Sleep. Get up. Two opposing forces were fighting within and she had decided to yield to it. Funny, when did beds become so comfy?

@Raizel Voltrouz
The ticking sound of the clock made the boy become more and more panicky. He looked back at Raizel who was now lying on the bed. Nothing resurfaced from his head, even the thought of calling his supervisor. He was about to cry but his brain could refrain from the flow of his tears. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trying to make his brain clear. "Bruise Healing and Pepperup Potions," he mumbled. Taking one more deep breath, Zach took all the equipment he needed from the Nurse station and quickly went back to Raizel.
He looked at the girl, sleeping soundly on the bed. "Raizel?" Zach called her, trying to get the girl to open her eyes. "I will check your temperature for the recording," Zach said. The edges of his lips were lifted with a little force. He tried his best to not look miserable in front of Raizel. His mind forced him to give her a smile no matter how broken his heart was seeing the girl on the bed. "Hold this under your tongue and close your mouth," Zach ordered. He gave the clean thermometer at Raizel and made sure that she did it right.
While waiting for the thermometer, Zach assessed the girl. She looked weak. It was his first time to see her this weak. Raizel might not be an extroverted person who had a visible energy emanating from her but Zach could always tell from her eyes. She lost the spark. She looked tired. She was definitely not fine. He also noticed the visible bruises on her. "What were you really doing?" Zach asked softly. He almost choked at his own words but managed to hide it. "How come you got these bruises?"
He took Raizel's thermometer and recorded her temperature. "You must take Pepperup Potions for your fever." Zach took out the potion from his satchel. The spoon was also prepared on the table besides Raizel's bed. "It might not have the best taste but this would help until the nurse could take a better look at you," Zach said, waiting for the girl to respond.

❂《 ⌜ December 8, 2024 ▎ Around 9 AM ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔A voice… whose? Zach? What is he doing here?
Oh, Right…
For a brief moment, she had forgotten where she was. It took her a couple of seconds before she opened her eyes once more, slowly looking up to see her friend there, staring at her with worry. Why does that irritate her so much? He didn't have to look at her like that after all. From the way he speaks to her, to his expressions, it was clear that he was trying his best not to look so disheartened in front of her. Frustration but also guilt. This is why she didn't want anyone to see her in a state like this. She’d rather not have them worry over her own recklessness and stupidity. A lesson, yeah, this is probably what is. The universe is telling her that her actions have consequences, not just on her, but on her friends as well.
Raizel should’ve listened to Cyrus. If she did then maybe this could've been avoided. She got too caught up with her own goals, drowned in her own desperation of becoming better and looking where that got her. When she wasn't feeling well earlier, she should've taken that as a sign to just stay in bed all day and finally have a good rest, something that she's depriving herself of with her overworking streak. She averted her gaze from the Ravenclaw boy, just following most of his instructions when he was getting her temperature. She couldn't look at him directly, ashamed of making him feel so worried. His question did linger in her mind and she herself doesn't know what she was doing. “I was just practicing. I didn't lie about that.” She finally answered once Zach was done taking her temperature. It was true, she was practicing but when you're distracted and sick, things are bound to end up like this. “Then I tumbled when I tried to land and lost focus, I suppose.” She tried to laugh it off but really, it's not something to laugh about. “Really, it's just an unfortunate accident. Nothing new.” If one knows her, they would know that. They would know how she is always struck with unfortunate things, with failures. “I get bruises like this all the time.”
The moment Zach said something about the pepperup, something snapped. The Gryffindor quickly sat up on the bed, a hand grabbing onto Ravenclaw's wrist. “No, I don't need it.” She uttered, head lowered and voice low. “You don't need to use up any of your resources for me, I’ll be fine.” She insisted, preparing herself to get out of bed and leave the hospital wing. She felt bad for it, there are others that need it more than her and this is a result of her own stupidity. In a way, she thinks she doesn't deserve to be treated here. She should brew her own Pepperup potion next time. “I can continue resting back in the dorms. I just need to sleep right?”

@Raizel Voltrouz
Zach was speechless when he was listening to Raizel. He wondered if the girl was always like that, forcing herself, pushing her own limit. However, he couldn't say more. It slapped him really hard. Raizel push herself to reach her greatness and what he was doing now? He was ashamed of himself.
But the sick is still the sick.
Zach cleared his throat. Steadying himself. Trying to hold his tears. He knew Raizel was clearly not okay and she needed help. "You... You must know when to stop." Zach said it. He didn't think about the sentence. It was naturally coming out from his mouth. Would Raizel got hurt by his word? He hoped it didn't hurt her too much. "Your body telling you to rest. That is my grandpa always told me whenever I am sick." Zach looked at the floor, didn't dare to meet Raizel's eyes.
What would Raizel think about him? She must hate it to take a small lecture from him. Zach's thoughts were flooding, making the small head full.
His hands were ready to prepare the Pepperup Potion until he heard the rejection from the lioness. "Please take some rest here first. Let the Nurse assess you." Zach pleaded. "Take this potion. Your fever is high. I'm afraid your condition will be worse." Zach tried to push his brain to say more words to convince Raizel to stay. But the brain had another plan. Instead of words, tears flowed from his eyes, making his cheeks wet. "Please..."

❂《 ⌜ December 8, 2024 ▎ Around 9 AM ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔But this can’t be it… this can’t be her limit… no, she refused to admit that. There were still things she could do. This is reality, however. A reality that she had to face. Her body spoke. It had enough, telling her that she needed to stop, to take it slow so her body gave up before she could. It’s like it knows it won’t win when it comes to stubbornness. That was the only victory that Raizel could attain. Stubbornness, recklessness. Her protest to Zach was how it showed despite knowing how right he was, how right his grandfather was. “But if I don't work hard… then what do I have left for me?” That was the only way she could think of if she were to reach her goal, the only way to prove her worth.
Raizel let go of Zach's wrist, looking down before letting out a soft chuckle, one that was filled with disappointment. “I’m… a failure you know…” the Gryffindor uttered, gritting her teeth. The mere thought of her current weak and pathetic state filling her up with rage. She was sick of feeling this way yet she continued to be tormented by it no matter what she did. Was it wrong to seek strength? To seek power? To seek progress? That's all she wanted, to see where her hard work had led her but there was nothing. “So that means I have to work harder.” This was something that she only shared with a couple of people. No one had to know the struggles she was facing. There was no need to burden them with it and she could handle it all by herself. Zach wasn't one of those people that she had intended to say it to. If possible, he was one of those that she didn't want to know no matter what.
He’s kind, too kind. Soft. The way he was reasoning kind of told her so. His voice was cracking, sounding like he's so close to crying yet he kept trying to convince her to take it easy and let herself be healed. She couldn't bear to look at him for she knows what she’ll see and that was his sad and worried face. When he pleaded for her to say, she finally mustered the courage to take a glance at him and the tears that flowed from his eyes had broken her. The first time she saw him cry… back in Hogsmeade… that was already enough to sadden her, wanting to not make it happen. But it still did and this time… she was to blame.
Guilt washed over her, making her bite her lip. It would've been enough to draw blood but if she hurt herself further, it'll sadden Zach some more. She was silent for a short while before she sighed. “Fine.” Raizel said, giving up on her stubborn ideas for once. “I’ll take the potion.” If it'll help make Zach feel better, then she'll do it. “I’m sorry.” That was for all the trouble she had caused today. As soon as she took the medicine, she laid back down on the bed, turning her back on the boy.

@Raizel Voltrouz
Zach listened to Raizel. Raizel was the person who worked hard to polish her skills. He knew it too well. She always practiced. She seldom spent her time recklessly. She had her goal in mind. And Zach always knew that Raizel was always doing her best. But he also could empathise. Her hard work was often washed away by many variables. It was painful to watch, he never mentioned any of her matches. Zach, too, would be really hopeless if he were in her position. He couldn't come up with anything eventually. His mouth was shut. The words were stuck in his throat.
"You're not a failure," Zach said. It was really painful to hear this. Why would she think that she was a failure? Zach couldn't believe her. "You're never a failure," he said it again, making sure that she could hear it well. The boy really wanted to hug her, but he was afraid that she might be hurt. He could just look at her eyes, assuring that he really meant the word.
The boy was relieved when Raizel finally chose to stay and take the potion. He wiped his tears and helped Raizel to take the Pepperup Potion. "Be careful. Your ears might emit steam." He chuckled a little bit. It was really absurd for Zach to learn this potion. Before Hogwarts, he was always given Muggle medication that had no side effects like this. "Don't be sorry," he smiled. After the girl took her rest, Zach quietly cleaned up the table and went back to the Nurse station.
