Eyes on the moon— The plan pv completed

Ira climbed the steps toward the Charms classroom after breakfast, her feet moving on their own as a memory popped into her head. One she’d heard a dozen times from her cousins. Her cousins had insisted it was true, claiming they had heard it straight from their great-grandmother. They spoke with such conviction, their expressions serious as stone, that Ira couldn't help but believe them.

The day to test it would be the next night, it was the only chance. If she lost it, she’d be waiting ten years for another go. Ten whole years! She can't wait that long. Tomorrow night was her only option. Night! That was the problem. The curfew! How could she pull this off without getting into serious trouble?

Maybe she could count on a bit of help. Silva, her Charms bench mate, seemed like the perfect person to approach. If Silva was already there when Ira arrived, she’d walk straight over to her. If not, she’d wait for Silva to come in and would speak the moment she was near.

"Hey, Silva... do you believe me?" Ira’s voice was quieter than usual, unsure of how to begin. She hesitated, unsure how to approach it. Taking a deep breath, she finally blurted it out. "Listen, I’m going to tell you something important. Keep it quiet for now. Tomorrow at midnight, if anyone looks at the moon, they’ll see visions of their future... and hear whispers, offering guidance on how to right a wrong or something"

Ira bit her lip as her eyes focused on Silva, wondering how she would take the news. Ira hoped for some sign that Silva believed her—or at least wasn’t thinking she was crazy.

Silva had only been sitting at her charms seat for a moment before she was approached by her benchmate, Ira Thornfield. She turned and smiled at Ira. She was glad they could sit together in this class. Ira seemed pretty nice. She tilted her head at Ira's first question. That made it seem like SIlva should very much not trust her. What.

When Ira told her what she was going to do Silva's eyes threatened to pop out of their sockets. She looked around to see if anyone else had heard. It didn't seem like they had. Still, what if they were hiding? What if they thought she was already involved in this plot? What if they called the teacher? This was terrible, awful, horrifying, terrifying, horrendous, shocking, dreadful, and...... she'd run out of words.

However... some small part of her was interested. What if you could actually see the future on that occasion? That would be awesome. But was it worth the risk of detention? She didn't know. On one hand she could get in detention and that would ruin her spotless transcript of never ever ever getting into trouble. On the other it would be really thrilling to do.

She looked up at Ira. Her face deeply conflicted. How did you make these decisions. Your future or your academics. Future in the terms of knowing it, at least.

"I- I believe you? But........ that... would be breaking the rules right.... and... I don't want to break the rules... right?" She said all of this with a questioning tone. Even the statements.

As Silva’s smile cracked, twisting into something closer to pure dread when her words sank in, Ira's heart skipped a beat as she watched her friend. She clenched her jaw, trying to keep her composure, but her fingers played with the edges of her sleeve in nervousness.

When Silva finally said she believed her, Ira’s breath escaped in a soft sigh of relief, her chest loosening. Ira gave Silva a slow nod with her teeth sinking into her lip when she questioned but a sense of resolve settled over Ira. She was confident she could convince her. After all, Ira wasn’t someone who typically broke the rules, but this was a rare opportunity.

Ira took a deep breath, her gaze softening as she met Silva’s eyes. “I feel you, Silva,” she said quietly. “But we’d have to wait another ten years for the next chance. Do you really want to pass that up?”

Ira reached across, taking Silva’s hand in both of her own, “Don’t you want to know what your future holds? Don’t you want the guidance from something greater, something that can lead you down the right path?” Her eyes gleamed, the intensity of her belief shining through as she whispered out the words.

As the class began to fill up, Ira’s gaze flicked nervously around the room, and she quickly added, “Think about it, Silva. I need your help more than you know, and I'll make sure we won't get caught” with her voice quiet but earnest.

Silva looked nervously up at Ira. Her benchmate had been so nice to her so far that she really wanted to believe her. 'T-ten years!" She exclaimed in surprise. That was a really long time, and it wasn't like she could take divination for several more years so.... this was her first chance to learn her future and her only for the next couple of years.

As Ira continued she looked with longing at what she said. Of course she wanted to know her future. Of course she wanted that. But... was it worth it? Or should she just walk away? She wasn't going to tell the teacher. No, definitely not. But.. was she going to go, was the real question.

She pulled out a piece of notebook paper and leaned over it to look like she was just reviewing notes. In reality she was thinking. And drawing.

She sketched out a quick map of the hallways she could remember, which was not a lot, but still it was something. She knew that some prefects, ghosts, and teachers patrolled the halls at night. How would anyone, much less a first year, know exactly how to get through without being caught?

But. It was such a great opportunity. She couldn't pass it off without possibly regretting it for years to come. Couldn't she? But no. She had to go. And besides, Ira had promised they wouldn't get caught. She probably knew some cool way of sneaking through the school. So, Silva nervously turned to Ira again.

"I'll go"
