Gem had nearly jumped out of his seat when he heard distant yelling grow closer, his head whipping around to see where the direction of the sound was even coming from.

"Oh, so you're Clem. Good ta meet yeh, mate, I'm Gem." He held his hand out to shake, reaching with his other hand to shove his goblet in his mouth to drink. "Oh yeh, we're declarin' a war on these cabbages," he gestured at the paintings, though there wasn't a centaur in sight-- for about a second, before a whole renegade of them just started to pile up and try to hit James with their arrows. Jesus, were they going to try and ambush him now? How pretentious.

"Aside from any of tha' mess, you didn't miss mooch. Bettah get yer official title, we've got e' Sausage King of Hogwarts, I'm e' Great Porridge Fighter, an' humble servant ov the Sausage king, and um... well, tha's it. Either way, it's basically fightin' against fascists." He couldn't keep himself from chortling at the sight of a small group of eleven-year-olds going head to head with some paintings of centaurs. Leaning back a bit on the bench, he got himself more comfortable, training his attention on Clem now. He looked cool, freckled skin, a round face, a scar-- he was really the whole package, everyone looked cool here!

"Right then, so I hear something about stormin' the kitchen?" He raised an eyebrow, looking over his shoulder to, again, make sure a professor wasn't nearby to hear it. "How would we go about tha, aye?" He aimed the question towards Lark, but he hoped Clem would hear and maybe pop in- he wasn't at all intimidated, but curious. He seemed like a nice guy, anyways.

Nodding her head in agreement Lark piped up along with the others.

"What they said. We all have your back." She couldnt imagine anyone giving James a hard time to begin with. Unless they already knew his blood status but even then Hogwarts wasnt like it was before. There might be some residual purist feelings but for the most part Lark never heard too much from her family that led her to think James or Clem would have to worry.

Refilling her goblet she waved to Clem as he appeared in the Great Hall, rushing to join the table. He panted out an apology and Lark gave a laugh. It was hard not to want to explore every inch of the castle! As the group filled Clem in to the tale of the Great Centaur Insult, Lark watched her friends. They were all amazing. Each one of them. Hopefully Gem would be a welcomed addition to the group. He fit in so well! Just in the short time they had been together... the past 24 hours.. they all felt more like family to her than her own had been since she left home.

"How would we go about tha, aye?"

Leaning in a bit so no one but the group at the table would make out what she was saying, Lark whispered, "I think we can sneak in while they get ready for students ta do chores.. right after dinner cleanup. Might think we're just there ta help. Find a spot to hide and wait til everyone clears out for the night." Of course she wasnt positive it would work... there could be some sort of detection spell in the kitchen to make sure students wouldnt sneak in... yet the Hufflepuff Commons was right next door so it's possible they anticipated some late night visits? Lark stared at Gem and whispered for only him to hear.

"Sort of had something happen up in the Owlery.. Clem thought ta get some things to help cheer James up." She hadn't noticed til now just how tired Gem looked. She wondered to herself if he was alright? Her eyes studied his features intently. Maybe it was nothing.. she didnt know him well enough to pry.

"What do you two think?" She said quietly looking to Gem and Clem.

Clem let a small smile creep onto his face as Logan offered to explore with him so he wouldn't get lost next time. While the other boy had good intentions, it probably wouldn't do much. However, this smile was soon replaced with slack jawed confusion at the various explanations throw at him about James altercation with the centaurs. "Isn't it a bit, um, early in both the school and the day to be making enemies? Even if the enemies are paintings?" he squeaked out, while he was shaking Gem's hand.

Gem seemed well, honest, in the blunt sort of way. And Clem could appreciate that. It was nice to know where you stood with people. There were less mental gymnastics you would have to do, he resolved. You didn't need to constantly negotiate where you stood with them - you came as you

Lark asking "What do you two think?" shocked him out of his reverie for a moment. "Er? What?" he asked, puzzled for a moment, having lost track of the conversation. "Oh! You mean the kitchens. We don't, well we don't need to storm them? Not exactly. we could just ask nicely," he said, scratching at the back of his neck. "Like. Sometimes, if you act apologetic and confused it's easier to get away with things. People tend to want to help others. Honestly, we wouldn't even need to act. I mean I know I'm going to get lost down there at some point already, and if it happens sooner rather than later, and if we 'accidentally' stumble on the kitchen and apologize, well, it's not going to be a big deal. Probably?"

He paused, realizing just how much he had rambled there. "So that's one possible strategy for getting some bread tonight." Chewing on his lip, he stared at the other two, trying to gauge their reactions.

Gem watched Clem speak his suggestion, and while he agreed that it was far more plausible, realistic, even, it wasn't exactly as fun to ask nicely than to break in and risk getting caught; still, detention here seemed like a mild death sentence, and he wasn't sure how okay he was with having his life ended at the ripe age of eleven.

"E's got a point," He said, breaking the silence between the three. Tucking his hands under the table, setting them on his lap, he elaborated a bit. "We're all just lil' sprogs in their eyes, yunno? It's not like we're going to be lookin' like we're takin' the Mickey or nothin', joost some lost little kiddos." He glanced at Clem and Lark with a small, round smile on his face, perhaps a bit mischievous. "I dunno, I fhink I'm in. Wot could be the harm?" He slid his hands down his pant legs, then brought them back up to the table, drumming the tabletop distractedly.

He knew they'd all play the 'scared little kid' part well, and in a weird way, it wouldn't have been acting at all. For Gem, at least. If he was confronted by a professor, he'd be well down the path of the 'shitting his pants' level of fear. The very last thing he wanted was to be on bad terms with the teachers, but if his friends went down, he'd go down with them, no matter the consequence.

James felt like the sausages were stacked up to the back of his teeth at this stage and he pushed the final three away from him, feeling a sense of defeat.

As the others planned the Kitchen Raid, his excitement was piqued. He wasn't much good at cooking, but he did have a little bit of experience sneaking into school property where he wasn't allowed.

"It's settled then, the Great Ravenclaw Bread Heist of 2019" he said, "This will go down in the History Books for ages! Though, I have to say... there's something really important you're all forgetting. We need rad codenames. Shotgun Dark Phoenix."

He pulled an exercise book from inside his robes - the same one he'd used to write his letter to his parents, and drew a quick mudmap of the hallways outside the kitchen.

"We're going to need somebody who can keep watch and keep any wandering professors or house prefects talking and distracted while the whole operation is going down." He drew a little 'x' on the map outside the door of the kitchens, "We're also going to need a way to discretely transport the loot back up to the Commonroom once we do have it - we can feign ignorance before the crime but afterwards won't be so easy - anyone got a backpack or something we could stuff it inside?"

Clem made a good point... she hadn't considered them just assuming they were lost little kids. Nodding carefully she imagined that playing out in her mind. Way easier than her idea would be. Even Gem agreed.

"You're both right." Even if sneaking in and hiding seemed more adventurous it could lead to a heap of trouble. She wasnt even sure what type of detention they dished out but imagining the look on her parent's face made her realize she wouldn't want to learn first hand anytime soon.

"It's settled then, the Great Ravenclaw Bread Heist of 2019"

The name made it seem that much more exciting.

"Code names?" Lark raised a brow and watched as James pulled out his book, caught up in the idea of the kitchen raid. She smiled happy that this was taking his mind off of earlier.

"...anyone got a backpack or something we could stuff it inside?"

"Well yeah.." She laughed and shook her head. "Someone has this pretty nifty bag actually..." Blinking a handful of times as she looked at James playfully. No one questioned him at the Sorting Ceremony or checked his bag. Why would they walking through the halls knowing he was Muggleborn. Professors and Prefects might even think he's still used to Muggle schools.

"Although..." she paused for a moment and put a hand on his shoulder. "Might want ta leave the red...smalls in your dorm.. not sure they would go along with these type of buns." Lark was pretty sure that's what caught her eye at the Ceremony. Although saying underwear aloud may not be the best at the breakfast table. That's all they needed was to be caught and have a professor pull out a load of undies alongside baked goods. Lark thought for sure James would be mortified. She knew she would be!

Scooting closer into the table so she could see what he was drawing, she pointed at one end of the hallway.

"I think if anyone were to come down there they'd walk from that direction." She dragged her finger from the eastern entrance to the kitchens under the Great Hall. "Plus there's a bit of a hall I think with some barrels... that leads to the Hufflepuff Common Room.. or so my Pa always mentioned." She was thankful he had always told stories of his time here sneaking around. Bit of that knowledge would come in useful.

"Might want ta leave the red...smalls in your dorm.. not sure they would go along with these type of buns."

James' face went as red as a traffic light and he stopped his drawing for a moment. Lark had seen into his backpack at the Sorting Ceremony last night...

He was mortified. Squeezing his eyes shut tightly, trying to direct the embarrassment somewhere.

He whispered to Lark, "Thanks for the tip." he shoved her playfully, "Nosy." he added.

He was still red, but did his best to continue with the plan.

"Ok, so - uh- I can post out front. I can always call on my Centaur friends to cause a distraction if we need. I reckon being chased by paintings will keep a teacher distracted long enough to get in and out. Someone's got to hold up outside the Hufflepuff Commonroom, our main issue is going to be with the Hufflepuff Prefects. Logan, can you check the bulletin board in the Entrance Hall and find out who the Hufflepuff Prefects are? We're also going to need two people to get inside and grab the loot. One with my backpack and the other one to keep watch. We'll also need a way to signal each other if we spot trouble..."

He began drawing symbols, all over the map... arrows and crosses showing potential movement patterns of teachers and students at the that time of day. His heart was racing. The Heist had begun.

Gem peaked over James' shoulder, watching him map out the plan, half-heartedly listening to his explanation. A raid like this would take an awful lot of planning, but here they were, hashing it out right in the middle of breakfast. He was still clueless as to where things may be so far, but he was sure he'd have someone there to guide him-- that, or they get lost together.

"I don't mind bein' there ta keep watch, we'll need someone pretteh small-- which won't be 'ard, considerin' we're all about three feet tall." He crinkled his nose playfully, looking back over James' shoulder. "So Logan'll get tha information on e' Hufflepuff prefects- but who will come an' collect e' loot wiv me, aye?" He eyed everyone included in the Heist curiously, waiting for his partner in crime to perk up and show he wasn't alone-- there was no way he'd be able to do it by himself, and while he could possibly create a distraction with Verdimillious or Periculum as a sort of 'smoke bomb' so he could throw them off and get away, that wasn't necessarily the aim here... all of this for a kitchen raid. Well, might as well, right?

Logan slightly chuckled as he listened to everyone make plans and strategies for the Great Ravenclaw Bread Heist of 2019.

He noticed that, despite Lark asking, nobody had made any code name ideas. He remembered this one meme about code names, with like 'Been There Done That' and stuff as code names - but decided that since they're 11, code names like that wouldn't work and would be stupid to use.

What about numbers? And colours! They could all be their favourite colour and number. "For code names, how about colours and numbers? My favourite colour is dark blue, and my favourite number is 8, so I could be Dark Blue 8. Of course, we could do different things, like maybe favourite animals instead of colours? I could be Owl 8, in that case. Or maybe favourite movies, if Lark has watched enough to have a favourite. I could be Princess Bride 8 if we do that." He kept making lots of simple suggestions, mostly all to do with favourite things. He hoped that the others would like his suggestions - which they would probably have to choose from given that none of them have given any ideas for that themselves.

"Oooh!" James burst out in excitement, "Yes! To the colours thing! That'd be brilliant. I want to be Red Five like Luke Skywalker in a New Hope"

He wrote down on his piece of exercise paper:
Logan - Dark Blue 8
James - Red Five
"Ok we'll also need a warning signal... like- something that won't tip the Prefects off. If Gem says something loudly, like "I just can't wait for my first Flying lesson" - and then I could do a secret knock on the door of the Kitchen..."

He knocked on the wood of the table one knock, two short knocks, followed by a knock.

"If you ever hear that signal, you guys have got to find a place to hide. Also, when you're in there, you're going to have to know exactly what it is you want to snag. Otherwise we'll waste too much time deciding and risk getting caught. So let's also write a list of what we want to get now..."

He took his pen and wrote at the top...
The Bread
Underlining it and giving Clem a cheeky grin.

"So what do you think they have, I'm totally hoping on a scone or something. Ooh I wonder if they've got cake!?"
