A First Year Entrance First Years Only

Amelia was taken aback the moment she stepped onto the docks. There was so much for her to take in, and so little time to really do so, that she hesitated in following her friend's steps. Her eyes searched for her after a moment, as they had gotten separated when the other girl went off to claim a boat. She smiled brightly when she saw the other waving at her, trying to get her attention and took her time approaching, making sure to take in her surroundings. On the way, she considered her friend's words and smiled softly as she came to a stop on the deck beside her boat.

"They could use anything,"She decided as she turned her gaze out to the water. It truly was a beautiful sight; the lanterns casting waving light across the waves, the lively yet nervous chatter from the other first years, the pure anticipation for what was coming next. Amelia certainly couldn't wait to get to the castle and from the look on Teiki's face she assumed she couldn't either. So, she smiled broadly for a moment before she leaned over, making sure it was okay that she climbed in but not really giving the other girl a chance to answer at the same time,"Looks like I'll be joining you on this death trap tonight, huh?" She joked softly as she stepped in, careful to not step on the girl's toes as she made her way to the seat beside her.

Although she loved water, loved oceans and lakes and all the creatures within them, the thought of a boat capsizing bothered her more than she cared to admit. Of course, she wouldn't outwardly tell her new friend this, but the thought lingered as she made herself comfortable, careful to not rock the boat as she shifted (which was a lot harder than she realized). As she settled in beside Teiki, she casually dipped her hand in the water, relishing the cool contact of the waves kissing her skin before she looked over, grinning widely,"Its amazing, isn't it? It's like... like we're princesses in a fairy tale." She paused before laughing at herself,"I mean.. if they princesses were magic and could travel as they please."

Princess in a fairytale... She loved the sound of that. She had always enjoyed any sort of tale anyone would tell her because she could just simply be... It didn't matter what the current real problems were she could become a princess, a warrior, a magician, a feline, a hopeful pup, or even nothing at all. She sighed.
"Yeah... Of course, we can't really travel as we please." She laughed, indicating towards the boat that had already started to propel itself on its own. The boat "knew" only to go towards Hogwarts, the magical castle that loomed over everything with its shadow covering the dark sky. She was, again, awestruck. It would probably continuously happen throughout the boat trip, but that was fine by her.
"It's just... so beautiful. I'd hate to leave it after only seven years. I hope I still see the castle in the same light as I do now." She whispered, before turning back towards her friend.
"What are you thinking of becoming when you get older. I understand if you have no ideas quite yet, because, in all honesty, I have absolutely no idea. I'm just so happy to learn magic." She rambled on, trying to keep her voice at a half-whisper so her friend could hear while also not breaking the serenity of this place. She knew she wasn't the only one talking, though. She could hear some murmurs from other boats as people made new acquaintances.

Amelia couldn't help but burst into quiet laughter, which in turn caused a few heads to turn. She felt her cheeks flush but she couldn't help it. She hadn't even considered the idea that she could be more than she grew up with. Both of her parents had muggle jobs, but now that she knew the truth about herself... Well...

She looked at Teiki and grinned, her eyes reflecting the flames from the lanterns,"Well, if you must know, I never thought I could be anything more than a school teacher... but now that I'm here,"She looked out across the water, her grin turning into a soft smile,"I want to be anything, and I think I can be that through this school." She, of course, didn't know how to explain what she meant. There was just so much to take in. The fact that she was a witch still hadn't settled in with her, it all was almost like a dream, so the fact that she could become more...

It excited her, more so than she could explain.

"I understand that we can't exactly go where we please, but there's so much freedom to be had here,"She looked up at the castle and gently ran her fingers along the water's surface, letting her thoughts wander,"There ought to be a library, and the grounds are huge, I'm sure. And let's not forget that this is a literal castle that we're going to have actual classes in. As long as we don't do anything too crazy, I'm sure we'll be fine." Without meaning to, she accidentally changed the subject again. Realizing what she had done, she smiled softly, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment ,"I'm sorry I uh.. got carried away! What is it you want to be when you grow up, Teiki? What even can you be as a wizard?" She asked this because she truly didn't know. After all, at this point she only had a few weeks exposure to the wizarding world, and she was eager to learn anything she could from the start.

"Oh no! It's fine! I always get carried away. Plus, I have no idea what I want to be. I think as a wizard, there are many of the same jobs, but with magic. For example, you could still be a school teacher, but instead of teaching math or English, you could teach charms or potions." At least, this was how Teiki reasoned it out. The difference between wizards and muggles wasn't all that large. There were still miracles and hopes and dreams. The wizards just had a new subject they could learn and manipulate. Magic.
"I understand your idea about freedom. The castle and magic itself is quite different from anything that I would generally see or do really. It seems like a wonderland to me, too. Definitely more freedom than what I would have a home." She laughed softly. While she had been able to explore the "campus" of her home quite easily, she wasn't allowed to perform magic. But here.. Plus, it was such a large school to explore. She simply couldn't believe how much there was to look at.
"I think once I've gone to whichever House I'll be in, and when I set up my stuff, I'll probably just explore the campus until I have classes. Or, at least, as much of the campus as I can explore." She smiled, thinking about all the possible adventures that could happen. It was the perfect place to learn magic, and spend years in. There were simply so many secrets and magic to be learned. She smiled softly, glancing back at the silhouette of the station, barely visible.

The port for Hogwarts nears and Teiki allows Amelia to get off before she does. Her energy comes bubbling forth as the serenity leaves in the midst of all the confused chaos.
"Well, I'll see you around, Amelia. If we're in the same house, let's talk some more. That would be really fun. If we're not in the same house, well, we could still meet up between classes." Teiki smiled and followed the crowd of First Years as they made their way towards the Great Hall.

Willow had been a bundle of energy the whole day starting with running through a train platform? Who could say they did that among her friends? Everything to her was new, there were no expectations about what was to come which was always exciting for her. While she did chat with those in her cabin, most of the time her eyes were wide, glued to the window watching the scenery go by. As the evening came she found herself being tired, but couldn't allow herself to close her eyes for more than a second.

As Hogwarts came into view, she stood up from her seat and pressed herself against the window trying to take it all in. Her smile was wide as she took in her new home. Despite having a largely independent childhood, for once in her life she felt a pang of sadness that this was her new home, having left everything "normal" behind. As she watched the crowd outside, she felt herself unable to move out of the cabin questioning if this was the right place for her to be. She knew nothing about magic, and there seemed to be so much for her to learn and it seemed overwhelming.

Soon she snapped out of it, as one of her cabin mates tugged on her black robe to come outside with them. She took a deep breath, following the voice that told her where to gather. "How can one voice be so loud?" She wondered out loud, before giggling at her own realization "Oh, duh! Magic!" She continued to take in everything around her as she climbed aboard a boat towards her new normal.
