Dear Starry-Eyed Dreamers,
As the Yule Season approaches the Wizarding World, holiday gossips and fairy lights as well as snowflakes decorates the roof of our homes this upcoming Christmas! Happy Holidays, everyone! And with that being said, your stellar editors presents the special holiday edition of Astronomy at Present where we not only features celestial events, we also present the seasonal cheer of holiday gossips as well as the brand new Ask the Astronomer column! Dreamers, grab a hot mug of butterbeer and settle near your hearth as we discuss every celestial wonders this holiday season!

Upcoming Celestial Events:
December 17-25,
There is another chance to spot a meteor between December 17 and 25. Somewhere between the handle of the Plough and the North Star, (Polaris), is the radiant, or celestial point in the sky from where these meteors seem to come. They are known as the Ursids, named after the constellation of Ursa Minor, (The Little Bear). These shooting stars are the debris from Comet Tuttle. They produce a weak shower with only a tenth of the number that the Geminids produce. The Moon gets in the way during the mornings.

December 25,
Mercury at Greatest Western Elongation. The planet Mercury reaches greatest western elongation of 22 degrees from the Sun. This is the best time to view Mercury since it will be at its highest point above the horizon in the morning sky. Look for the planet low in the eastern sky just before sunrise.

December 30,
New Moon. The Moon will located on the same side of the Earth as the Sun and will not be visible in the night sky. This phase occurs at 22:28 UTC. This is the best time of the month to observe faint objects such as galaxies and star clusters because there is no moonlight to interfere.

It seems like Cupid did not stop from working even during the holidays as a witch and wizard relaxing in the Three Broomsticks Inn had found themselves in a predicament—where an enchanted mistletoe grew above them and refused to vanish unless a kiss was exchanged. This particular witch was red in the face, not knowing that the wizard was an infamous worker in the Ministry of Magic (we will not name them to protect their image) and has wife and kids. The witnesses reported that the witch profusely apologised to the upset wife!

Celestina Warbeck's Lunar Serenade
Celestina Warbeck, the infamous “Singing Sorceress of the Century,” serenaded an audience of wizards under a full moon during her annual Christmas concert in Hogsmeade. Sources claim her new ballad, Starlight Promises, is dedicated to a mysterious secret admirer.

Astrological Argument
