If there was one thing Amelia hated about starting school, it was when teachers assigned homework during their first week. She grumbled quietly to herself as she stepped into the large oak doors, her fingers brushing up against the wand in her pocket as to ease her nerves as she contemplated the best way to cover her studies.

At least, she was thinking about her studies until her gaze fell on the shelves that lined the walls. She faltered in her steps for a moment, looking around in awe at the books upon books her gaze fell upon. She loved reading, something many people wouldn't have assumed from her talkative nature, so being somewhere like this did wonders for her self-esteem. Mindlessly, she walked among the shelves, her fingers gently tracing the spine labels as she walked by before she found a book she seemed particularly interested in. Gently pulling it off the shelf, she studied the cover before opening it to the first page.

And all thoughts of her studies went out the window. Deciding that she would rather read than face the fact that she didn't know what she was studying for once, she gently pulled the book to her chest and made her way to a corner of the room where other students were busy studying or whispering among one another. She smiled warmly at them as she passed but didn't intrude on their conversations as she found herself a seat by the window.

"I'll get to potions eventually,"she mused to herself as she settled in, pulling her knees up and resting the book on her lap.

Dale loved the library, it was hands down is a most favorite place at Hogwarts. He loved just going there to relax and read of the many books he had brought with him from home. But sadly Dale wasn't going there to relax today, he was going there to do his charms homework. Charms was one of the few things Dale truly struggled with, maybe because he was muggle-born or maybe he just wasn't good at magical stuff, that would be an issue since he was attending a magical school. Dale let out a sigh as he approached the grand wooden doors of the library.

He went inside the library and scanned it looking for a place to sit. He found his regular favorite place was taken by a girl, he had never seen this person before. He debated just trying to find another spot, but he decided just to go there anyways, What's the worse that could happen Dale told himself.

He went over to the window seat and sat in front of the girl, trying his best to not look awkward. He pulled out his notes and a piece of parchment, and almost immediately his nervousness was replaced frustration towards his homework. He sighed and slumped back into his chair, trying to think about how to approach his complicated homework,

Amelia hardly noticed as the boy sat down but lifted her gaze after a few moments anyway, her eyes needing a rest. She found her gaze wandering as she studied him, noting how tense he was getting. So, she trained her gaze on the parchment in front of him, trying not to be too much of a snoop as she decided her curiosity was getting the best of her. She recognized some of the charms the boy had written down and bit her lower lip, wondering if she could extend a helping hand, but she herself didn't think she was that great at the class and didn't want to come off as a know-it-all.

But she swallowed her pride and put on a nervous smile before she spoke to the boy, who she realized was looking at her,"Did you need help with charms?" She asked softly, keeping her voice low as to not both any of the other students,"I-I'm not the best myself, but I could try to help if you need it,"She stuttered out quietly, fumbling with her words (which admittedly was a first, but she blamed it on the new environment and all). She realized then, that the offer may have been pointless, as she had no idea how old this boy was, meaning he could be in an upper class, and suddenly, she felt stupid for talking in the first place.

Dale looked up to see the girl who was talking to him, it had caught him by surprise when she spoke up. Dale was very embarrassed that he had let his frustration show to such a level, his face started to heat up a little bit, he tried to hide his embarrassment and not let it show on his face.

The girl looked like she was younger than him, which made him even embarrassed, he didn't think he looked that frustrated, but he did. He looked at the girl, maybe this girl was a genius or something, Dale would take any excuse to get some help at this point in trying to do his charms homework, he would have to swallow his pride and take the girl up on her offer. "Umm, y-yeah I c-could use a bit of h-help" he said to the girl timidly, he hoped his face wasn't red, he let out a nervous chuckle as he realized how awkward and nervous he seemed, he tried to calm himself down as he said "Y-Yeah I'm also n-not the best at c-charms." he said to the girl with a kind smile. He ran a hand through his hair once more, attempting to fix his har, it didn't work very well.

"Don't worry, I'm the absolute worst at potions. There's never any harm in asking for help,"Amelia couldn't help but smile at his demeanor as she spoke. Of course she was just as nervous as he seemed to be, but she didn't let it show nearly as much. She found it cute in a way, she mused as she scooted closer so she was in a chair beside him. She sat her book down and softly pushed it away from her so she wouldn't get anywhere near as distracted as she had been earlier.

"Are you a second-year student?" She questioned softly as her eyes skimmed the paper. There were a few charms she didn't recognize, but that could be solved quickly with a quick follow up in one of the books on the shelves. When the boy nodded, she grinned at him before she looked back at the paper,"I'm a first-year, and well... Charms happens to be one of my better subjects." She hoped she wasn't coming off as a know-it-all, as that truly wasn't her intent but she continued talking anyway because she genuinely wanted to help the boy relax; he seemed rather distressed about having someone younger offer him assistance. Noticing that he had stopped on the mending charm, she smiled and removed her own glasses before she bent the wire,"Do you remember how the charm goes at all?" She questioned before she held up the now broken pair and watched him with curious eyes.

Departing from her best friends was the worst feeling in the world. But it had to be done. Millie wasn't going to get any homework done for the following day if she kept hanging out with Maggie and Sylvie. She quickly bid goodbye, and sprinted up to the Gryffindor common room.

Inside the girls dormitory, Millie plopped on her bed, and pulled out the Charms homework that she needed to finish. She absolutely loved charms, but doing homework for it was just annoying- especially when it was so complicated. However it had to be done, she didn't want to fail the class.

Reaching over to the bedside table, Millie pulled out a quill and some ink, and headed down to the library. She passed a few friends on the way there, and was tempted to join their escapade to do some pranks, but remembered her homework. She had to just grit her teeth and do it.

As she entered the library, she walked over to a section of books, and began looking through them. Luckily, she was able to find a good book about charms and what they were learning in professor Vernatis's class. He did say they could find books about it in the library.

Now she just had to find a table to sit at, and looking around, there weren't many options. Just as she was losing hope, she saw a boy and a girl sitting at a table not too far from her. She didn't recognize the girl, but she saw the boy at Maggie's costume party.

She skipped over to them, and sat down at the table, a small smile on her face.

"Hey there, what's up?"

Dale felt more at ease with the girl, she assured him that asking for help wasn't strange, but Dale knew that, in fact, he would often look for help from his professors or even some of the friends he had made his first year at his school. But the part about asking an underclassmen is what put him on edge. It made him feel stupid and that was one thing Dale did not like.

That's is not to say that Dale disliked the girl that had so kindly offered her help. But it sill made Dale want to go back to his dorm and scream into his pillow. He wished he could go back and time and stop himself from ever entering the damned library. But for now, Dale would have to remain calm and talk to the person in front of him, "Y-Yeah I am an s-second year" he said to the girl, trying to give the least awkward smile he could muster. She scanned over the notes, she seemed to have more of a clue than Dale did, which made him a little upset, "A full summers worth of studying bested by a first-year, some genius you are" he scolded himself internally. He only stopped scolding himself because he heard a snap, the snap of the girl's glasses, what, then she pointed at the mending charm and asked him to do it.

Dale panicked a bit at first before remembering, oh right I know this one quite well, he pulled out his wand and executed the spell, the glasses fixed them self, and Dale regained some of his pride. I know that one quite well actually. He told the girl.

He thought he could escape soon until he heard a voice say to him "Hey there, what's up?", and in his shock, all Dale could say was "Ahh, umm d-do I know y-you?"

She knew she was coming off as a know-it-all but she couldn't help it. Before school had even started she had found herself reading through the Book of Spells out of sincere curiosity and it seemed to have paid off, as she was (hopefully) in the process in making a new friend. She waited patiently as he visibly panicked for a moment and did her best not to comment on it before she saw his eyes light up. Before she knew it, he was handing her back a pair of well-repaired glasses,"I know that one quite well, actually."

Amelia simply grinned at him as she slid her glasses back on,"You're still doing better than I am. Although I know the movement well enough, I always find a way to mess it up somehow. Last time I tried to repair these on my own...well..."She smiled to herself and nervously played with a strand of her hair as she remembered the abstract way they had reformed. Luckily, one of her housemates had repaired them for her so she didn't have to worry about it. Soon enough, she turned her gaze back to the notes displayed in front of her. Almost immediately she grew distracted by the work, her gaze wandering the page as the fell into a few moments of silence, at least until, someone pulled the chair in front of her out and chimed a happy,"Hey there, what's up?

She lifted her gaze and tilted her head to the side as she glanced between the boy and the girl, one of which seemed to want to go hide in his rooms at the moment. However, she remained silent, turning her gaze to the girl who she admittedly hadn't seen before. She was curious, mostly, as she watched the other girl. She immediately felt herself wanting to ramble an introduction but decided against it, as the other two were discussing where it was exactly they had met before.

Elizabeth ran into the library. She had just been told that a book she really wanted was returned to it's place. She slowed down noticing there was quite a few people in there and she didn't want to look weird running in the library. She found the book she wanted and read it while walking.
She thought she was going to an empty table but suddenly found herself interrupting a conversation. She felt her face go red and told herself "way to go". But she knew she had to make new friends so she tried regaining her confidence but her book fell in front of her. Her heart stopped, she hated herself for being so scared.
"It's not to late" She thought. "I can still pick up the book and leave." She thought it was a good enough option until she scolded herself. "You need to make more friends!" She thought. She started contradicting herself and listing pros and cons in her head.
She thought about what her mum would say about the situation and new she had to do it. But she just couldn't muster up the courage and the people talking look nervous enough as it was. She hadn't realized how long she was standing there looking like an idiot. So she picked up her book and took a deep breath saying "Hi my name is Elizabeth smith sorry to interrupt but may I please sit here?" She felt flustered but was sure she said all her words clearly and with confidence. She put on a kind smile after she finished talking to give a good impression.
