A Convenient Encounter PV Kora Eliot

Back home Kora was always compared to a hedgehog mostly due to her shy personality and semi-nocturnal habits, so it was no surprise that on a beautiful sunny day she was sitting in the library reading a book on the habits of Grindylows.
It was quiet in the library a few students doing homework or walking up and down the shelves looking for books this was the way Kora liked it, she sat up stretched and closed the book she had just finished after returning it to its place on a shelf she went on a mission to find another to read.

After a while she lost hope of ever finding one and slowly excepting she might have to ask someone for a book recommendation. Looking around at the few people left in the library she spotted a boy who seemed less interested in what he was doing and wouldn’t mind being interrupted to help a little first year with finding a book.
Noticing that he seemed only a year or so older tho an her did help calm the nerves but only a little. He had black hair that seemed to hang over his forehead a little his skin a pretty tan color in a way he was maybe a little cute if you happened to think like that which in small moments Kora did.

Slowly walking over to him her nervous energy seeming to spill from her like an over flowing jug. Carefully she taped him on the shoulder to get his attention it worked the boy stood up he was tall well taller then Kora he immediately sat back down but seeing how tall he was made her even more nervous she felt like she was going to pass out. Her thoughts had been screaming at her so loudly that she almost missed his question and after a few moments that felt like years Kora replied,

“Um yes well only if you want to but it’s uhh I was wondering if you had any good book recommendations sorry for bothering you”

God could she go one interaction without rambling.

Noah was taken aback that the girl even managed to get the words out of her mouth yet she looked very determined.

“Oh yeah! I come to the library a lot, so I’ve read most of the books here. It depends on what you like; if you’re a sporty kind of person I would recommend Quidditch Through the Ages. And if you like books on magical creatures, I would say to read Magical Beasts and Where To Find Them. And if you like to read up on history I recommend Hogwarts: A History. And I can keep going.” he rambled. Then he blushed so hard his cheeks felt hot. He had said that so fast, he thought he embarrassed himself.

The girl didn’t seem to be mad; as a matter of fact, she looked quite interested in what he was saying. Noah was looking her right into the eyes and noticed they were very pretty. In Noah’s opinion, she was pretty in general. But Noah couldn’t tell her that. What if she didn't feel the same about him? Noah was trying to act cool and casual, but now he just couldn’t take it.

Maybe if I act like myself, she will like me. he wondered. Noah didn't even know the girls name, and he already liked her. Noah often thought highly of himself, yet now he felt like a fool.

Looking at this boy now he was even more cute then from afar, his eyes oh his eyes such a beautiful blue the sort of blue that if you looked long enough you could get lost in the vast sea of blue that was his eyes. As the boy went on about what type of books she might like Kora started to relax a little her shoulders once tense now loose slowly she started to calm down though her heart didn’t stop beating three hundred times a minute.

“Please do go on your knowledge of the library is kinda cool in my opinion”

Her words slipped out before she could stop and think about them ‘oh god that sounded so dorky’ she thought while internally facepalming. Gazing over the boys face she noticed it was a little pink automatically her thoughts wandered off wondering why that could be.
It had occurred to her that she hadn’t introduced herself to this boy so holding out her hand for him to shake she said with what was a forced calm voice,

“Oh sorry how impolite of me I’m Kora, Kora Eliot nice to meet you and what is your name”

Oh how she wanted to tug at her hair the nervous habit was one she had been given by observing her sister though now at university her sister had long grown out of it that stage was yet to come for Kora. After a few second of self restraint her other hand started to tug and the hem of her school shirt tugging at it ever so slightly, praying he wouldn’t notice she gave the boy a smile though be it wonky.

“Noah. I’m Noah Baldridge. Nice to meet you, Kora. Your name is very nice.” he added awkwardly. “No, no, no, I shouldn’t have said that. Sorry. You look very nice. Darn, why am I so weird? Can we forget I ever said that?” He was blushing intensely. He was never good at talking to women. Never. Even though this was the one that he liked the most. As a matter of fact, he had never even kissed a girl before. One time, he had said “cantaloupe” (a fruit) instead of antelope (an animal.) This happened mainly whenever someone he liked was around.

This is the most awkward moment of my life. This is so weird. he thought. Kora was very pretty. Now that he saw her close up, he noticed that she had a few freckles on her beautiful, slightly tanned face.

“I-I would like to get to know you better. Is there anything you like to do? I’ve always wanted a broomstick.” he stuttered. Even though Kora had said she liked the book topic, he was still trying to abandon it. Noah was very intelligent and he thought Kora was too, but he didn’t want to seem like an insufferable know-it-all. He smiled back at her. He noticed she was tugging on her shirt. Noah did that a little too, but only because he was self-conscious about his weight, even though he was the average weight. He could still feel his face blushing. It felt red-hot. Noah had never seen someone so pretty. He was thinking about her while he waited for her response.

His name rang out inside her head like the bells in a cathedral Noah simple but still memorable how perfect. Trying to act like her thoughts werent running wild she brushed some hair away from her face, 'Or would it just be better if i tied it up?' she thought though she wondred why her mind was so fixated on what her hair looked like it wasnt as if it mattred. Kora laughed a little it wasnt a mean laugh just it was kinda cute that this boy was finding it sort of hard to talk to her a first year and a dorky one at that.

"do you like flying then?"

Hearing that Noah wanted a broom was to Kora one of the most intriguing things he had said. It wasnt that she hadnt met people with brooms or people who wanted them just this time it was different. once again she found herself sweeping hair away from her face this annoyed her a litte and so ended one of the many debates that seemed to be raging war inside her head. quickly and smoothly she tucked her hair behind her ears and while she tied it into a ponitle she said,

"i like to go on walks or read"

she paused to surch her pockets for another hairband when she found one she tied her ponytail into a bun and she finished speaking.

"i like to watch people fly around on thair brooms though i must addmit i have never been on one myself"

Kora looked back up at him and instantly felt her face go red why on gods green earth had she just told a stranger that she had never been on a broom her mind stopped all thoughts appart from one.
'hello and welcome to Kora embarrassing herself on todays episode we will be telling a cute guy that your a little dork' she wanted to bang her head agenst a wall why was talking to boys so hard.

“Oh, I love reading. I read all the time. One of my favorite things to do.”

Kora said she had never been on a broom. “Well, maybe you should try! It’s really fun and super easy.”

Kora even said she likes walks. Noah thought on this for a minute. He kinda wanted to ask her on a date, maybe they could go on a walk. Noah eventually worked up the courage to ask.

“Y-you like to go on walks? W-would you like to go on a walk? With me? I-It’s fine if you don’t… just wondering.” he blushed. He could tell his face was going red. He was probably looking like a radish, an overgrown strawberry, a can tomato soup. Noah thought all of those things, but it was probably just because he was starting to get hungry.

“Or we could get something to eat,” he said. “I’m starving. I could eat a hippogriff. Not actually.” he added at the look of shock on her pretty face. Now Noah was in a reverie. He had just asked a girl out! But then he started to think she didn’t like him back because he thought she was looking at him weirdly, in a wonky smile. Maybe I’m way out of her league. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked her out. he thought.

Kora was at a loss for words had this cute boy just asked her out? no he couldnt have this must be a mistake. Her smile felt wonky i mean how could it not be this was the first time anyone had asked her out,what should she even do in situations like this keeping calm wasnt really an option her heart was beating out of her chest unlike moments before. moving her hands around in the air as she spoke her voice quick and a little rambeling,

"yes, yes please that sounds wonderful a walk sounds great just great or food food sounds good love to eat eatings good"

She stopped herself before her words became less of a sentance and more of a collection of odd words that have no corallation to anything. Only then did she notice that she had been waving her hands around as she spoke and imidetly dropped her hands back to her side.
'oh god what if he doesnt want to go on that walk now ive just waved my hands around in the air like some werid spell' her mind was starting to speed up and her heart felt like an earthquake nothing she wasnt use to but she pushed through pulling at her shirt.

"let me try that again. yes a walk sounds nice thank you for your kind offer Noah"

This time her words came out in a nice actully understandable sentance this slowed her mind a bit oh the wonders of her little mind.

Noah was very taken aback by her response, but when she said she was down to go, Noah smiled and could feel himself blushing.

“It’s a date, then! Oh- I mean not like that… unless you want it to be a date? Just so I can get this straight.” he added awkwardly. I’m awful with women… he thought.

Now they were out walking. Noah had thrown his books in his bag so he could study later. Although he was highly nervous, he was glad he didn’t fail dismally. They had been walking in deafening silence for a while. He looked at Kora, who was walking right beside him. Her hand was so close to his. He could just reach out and grab it but he hesitated. He had never even held a girls hand before. Noah imagined what all his friends would say when they found out that he was dating someone. They always would tease him as a joke because he had never really had a girlfriend. Noah worked up his courage and held her hand. She looked at him suddenly. Noah smiled weakly. He didn’t know how she would react. He hoped she was not uncomfortable. But to his surprise, he swore he saw her smile back. Noah felt like he could jump up and down or even shout in triumph.
