Dennis had spent his holiday setting off pranks and being a general nuisance. A complete 180 from last year where he was a bit mopey and friendless. Sure, he made some great friends during that first year but this year he had drifted away from all of them. Now, he was a lone wolf. An untameable stallion in a pasture full of geldings. He was going to do what he wanted, when he wanted, and no one was going to stop him. Man, puberty felt like a sudden rush of adrenaline and power straight to his veins. Maybe he’d get a tattoo and fight with his parents more.

What the young Ravenclaw wanted now more than anything was to make some poor sod suffer under a pile of snow! He had just finished his preparations. He found a rather flimsy tree along the side of the well shoveled path and started carefully piling on snowballs on one of the branches. There were more than he could count at this point and enough that, with a good shove the tree would buckle and all the snow would fall on the unsuspecting random target.

The problem Dennis was having was that, it was too obvious of a trap. One after another, students saw the snow and skirted the edges of his trap. He thought his brilliance had been thwarted until he saw one happy-go-lucky Gryffindor come by. Dennis hid behind a nearby snow mound, close enough he could get to the tree in time. This was going to be soooo good.

It was after the break for Christmas. I was so happy. I finally got to spend time with Zoe, with our different houses and odd class schedule I couldn't see her as much as I liked. I was overjoyed to be able to see her on a more regular basis.
After being in a rather quiet household for the past week-ish the castle was far too loud.
I figured if I was cooped up in there for a moment longer I would surely combust or have a complete and total meltdown.
So my only obvious choice was to take a walk.
I put on my coat and wrapped my Gryffindor scarf around my neck.
I stepped outside and let the cold-- almost too cold-- air wash over me. I shivered and started walking, still being unacquainted with the property all I knew was that I was by some trees.
I figured that if I wanted to make a map of the grounds for Papou I might as well explore the place.
I was still a bit antsy / overstimiulated / on the verge of a meltdown, and it was highly likely I would randomly burst out crying, but I was still smiling, for some reason.
I was just walking, preoccupied with my thoughts, when out of nowhere this huge ball of snow smacked me right in the side of my face.
That was it. Now I was angry. And the sad thing was, I cried when I was angry, or my eyes watered at the least.
Right now it was more eye watering but...
This had to be a prank.
I turned toward the trees and there they were, attempting to hide, but snickering just a tad too loud.
I marched toward the trees, not sure what I was going to do but was a little too angry to rationalize.

Perfect. His mark was right where he wanted her. Dennis picked himself up and ran headlong into the tree, knocking all the carefully laid snowballs on top of the girl. Or at least that’s what he thought would happen. As it turned out he nearly missed her, a majority of it falling in front of her face. Still it got a chortle of triumph out of the second year as he dived back behind his mound.

He peaked over the crest to find that the girl didn’t seem amused at all. In fact, she was on the edge of tears and quite possibly fuming. It’s at this moment that Dennis realized he hadn’t considered what the response would be after the prank. Perhaps there was a slight miscalculation as to how “funny” the prank would be to the other person. He didn’t have much time to ruminate on the sudden bout of self-awareness because the girl had noticed his hiding spot and was headed right toward him!

Without much thinking at all, as he was only a 12 year old boy after all, Dennis quickly gathered up snow into a ball and flung it at the Gryffindor girl without really aiming. That should ward her off. “I warn you! Don’t come any closer Gryffindork! I have more where that came from!” He called back as the girl seemed dead set on confronting him. He, in fact, had no more where that came from.

It was a good thing I was wearing my coat.
At this point I wondered why I even bothered, he has the aim of a blind garden snake.
Lucky for me he was right behind a snow mound and that snow mound had a snow covered tree right next to it.
If I was not so enraged I would have giggled at the sheer thought of pouring snow down this little menace's shirt. This was going to be so much fun.
He threw a flimsy snowball at me and he should have guessed that I was a snowball throwing champion, though how could he have known.
Pay back time.
When I was close enough I simply bent one of the heavily snow covered branches and shoved snow in his face. It was not enough revenge but I figured I should stop for now. I am unable to think clearly when I am angry so I figured I would come back to get revenge later.
I sprinted a little bit away so I could continue my walk in peace. Though now it was more plotting and me trying to cool off. Maybe I could talk to Zoe. She was a prank master.
