Letters to Home
As Lark handed the boys envelopes, Clem took one gratefully. As he grabbed it he glanced at her, not wanting to break the tenuous peace but also hoping that he could convey his thanks for earlier in a small glance. She had stepped in and helped return some calm to the scenario and he couldn't be more grateful.
He shoved a hand in the pocket of his jeans, feeling for a nub of a pencil he knew he had stuck in there a while back. Pulling it out, he plopped himself down on the ground and scrawled off a few extra lines about Hogwarts. His thumb worried at the pencil as he paused to think for a moment - the wizarding world, while magical, certainly wasn't better than the world of muggles. It was just adjacent, he supposed. Still, worrying only got one so far, better to try and push forwards and make something useful out of the whole situation. He glanced over at the rest of the room, where everyone else stood, quietly absorbed in their own worlds and worries, and hummed a little to himself anxiously.
Resolutely pulling himself up, he crept cautiously towards the small brown owl he had seen earlier. "Hey there," he mumbled, "Do you think you could take this home for me? If you can't I understand, but I'd really appreciate it?" The owl stared at him unflinchingly, and he jumped back a little as it stuck out its leg. "Oh, you want me to tie it on? Okay, okay. I think I can do that."
After he had tied it on, the owl swept off and Clem stared once again over the landscape. It really was gorgeous here. But there was not time to linger - things had to be done. He inched over to the room towards Lark.
"Do you think we should do something?" he whispered to her, picking at his sleeve a little. "For James I mean. Like something to cheer him up? We're all very, very new friends, but a little goes a long way? I wish we had a kitchen. I could make him cookies or something, but there doesn't seem to be one in our tower," he frowned slightly at this, "Do you have any ideas? I just feel like he could use something nice?"

Letters to Home
Lark caught Clem's eye and gave a quick smile. Without him stepping in she wasn't sure if she and Logan would be able to give the same comfort that someone in the same shoes as James could.
Watching James as he continued to eat that...banana, Lark shook her head. 'Stubborn.' She thought with a grin. She heard his whisper as he sent off the owl to do its duty. Even being immersed in magic growing up she still felt the same way. There were just some things that would never get old. Speaking of -- Her fingers lingered on her own letter.. Should she break the seal and add on to it as well? A tiny voice spoke up from the depths of her mind, whispering doubt. No. If they cared they would ask.
The girl's gold flecked eyes scanned the room for an unoccupied owl. She didn't want to disturb any of them that seemed to be resting. Finally she decided on one that had been watching the four of them carefully. Holding her hand out she watched as it eyed her, scanning her hand then her face before nibbling at her finger gently. Running a finger through the downy white feathers on its chest she raised the letter in her other hand.
"Would ye mind?" Lark whispered to the creature. It tilted its head for a moment and appeared to yawn before stretching its wings wide and snagging the envelope from her grasp. Giving her one last look over its shoulder the tan and white owl dove gracefully out of the window. Staring after it she could feel herself withdraw a bit into herself. Clem's quiet voice entered her mind and brought her to the present.
"Do you think we should do something?" Lark blinked at him. Ah yes, James. She felt a sadness creep over her still thinking of her parents. This had been the fifth owl she had sent since the start of camp in July... Pulling herself once more out of this feeling she nodded to Clem and whispered back leaning into the boy.
"There's actually a kitchen by the Hufflepuff Common Room." She thought for a moment. They should be able to get in there no trouble? It wasn't as if they were sneaking food out, it was possible they could just get in and grab some sweets to help. "Ye bake?!" Lark's eyes shined as she realized she had almost yelled it. Peeking towards James he hadn't seemed to hear her. Fewf.. There were few things she enjoyed more than cakes and baked goods. The girl's mouth began to water and stomach turn a little as she realized they hadn't made it to breakfast yet. Perhaps the house elves had not cleaned up downstairs and they could get something from the kitchen after all.
"Do you have any ideas? I just feel like he could use something nice?"
"Clem, you're so thoughtful! This is a great idea!" Not only had he stepped in and managed to offer support to James now here the boy was wanting to do all he could to help out. Lark smiled and thought how truly lucky they were to have met at the table. It was definitely looking more and more like it had been meant to be for the four friends.
"We should go in-between classes! He won't even see it coming." She was sure they had their first class later that afternoon and earlier had seen a notice in the Common Room for an errand to help around the castle. Lark had been meaning to talk to James about helping her out with it beforehand. "Why don't we bring him down there right after Charms? They're bound ta have something." Lark spoke quietly keeping an eye on James making sure he wouldn't catch on.
ReducioOOC: Totally just assuming Charms would be in the afternoon. James and Lark are in an errand thread right now that we already posted saying we went to do it after the Owlery. But we can start up an afternoon thread for this? IM DOWN! COOKIES AND BAKED GOODS, YESPLS!

Letters to Home
Once Logan had written his letter, he carefully sealed the envelope, and looked around for an owl to take it. There were a lot of owls, since this was the owlery, but many seemed to currently be resting.
Logan kept looking around, until a very energetic little owl caught his attention. "Oh, they have some Little Owls here too. Well they are one of the species naturally here in England so that makes sense." He commented as he walked over.
He carefully knelt down to be level with the Owl, and gently stroked down its front with one finger. The Owl seemed very eager, looking to see if Logan had a letter.
He slightly chuckled at the owl's eagerness, and carefully rolled the letter up before tying it around the owl's leg. "Please can you bring this to Croydon? To Elena and Cain Berry, my parents."
The Owl seemed to slightly nod, and quickly flew away. Logan watched as it slowly flew out of sight. He smiled. He now just had to wait for his parents to send one back. He couldn't wait to see how proud they'd be that he also got in the smartest of all houses, Ravenclaw.

Letters to Home
James leaned back from the window, feeling much better for the fresh air and the sheer beauty of the Hogwarts grounds. He saw Logan staring out the window, as his owl fluttered off into the distance.
He approached the boy slowly, and leaned up against the wall next to him.
"You ok, mate?" he said, softly, "Hope you didn't feel like we were angry at you there. I'm definitely not angry at you- just sort of angry- at- I don't know...
I had this friend - have this friend. Back home. And he's a muggle- and we kind of had a falling out about- me not telling him anything about this school - all this Statute of Secrecy stuff. And it just makes me - sad... I guess? And then I learn all about killing curses and Dark Lords and I realize that my friend - he's never going to know any of this stuff - as long as he lives. And- I don't know... what if it puts him in danger? Do you understand what I mean?"
James slid down the wall and sat on the hard stone floor of the Owlery, and wrapped his arms around his legs as he drew them to his chest.
"I did mean it - with the whole cup clinking thing. I'll always look out for you, Logan, as much as I can for as long as I can." he rested his head on his knee and sighed... these friends he was determined to keep.

Logan looked up, and turned to face James when he walked over. He was very much relieved to hear that James wasn't angry at him. "I'm glad you're not angry at me, I.. I thought you all were.. I mean, I deserved for all of you to be angry, I did cause the problem after all.." He slightly sighed. "But I'm glad you're not angry."Interacting with @James McMurtrie
"I'm sorry about the falling out you had with your friend. And yes, there is every chance you might put your friend in danger, I'm sorry to say that, but.. You do always have the choice that Harmione Granger, one of Harry Potter's friends, had. She saved her muggle parents from danger, by using a memory wiping spell on them. She completely removed herself from their memories to keep them safe." Logan explained, before hurriedly adding more, not wanting to scare James away from using magic. "Of course, she only had to because that was during the Second Wizarding War. I don't think you'll ever have to do that to your friend. But I'm just telling you that, well, you have ways to protect him, even if he may come in dangers way. Memory-wiping's not the only answer. It's really down to the situation what would be best. But unless something really major happens in the next few years, I'm sure he won't ever end up in too much danger."
Logan smiled at James' promise. "You really will? Thanks. I'll look out for you as well, ok? I promise."

Letters to Home
Ask Lark asked Clem "Ye bake?!" he scratched the back of his neck a bit."Uh, a little bit? It's well, well it's calming? And it gave me something to do." His parents were busy people and baking had made it so that he could help them out sometimes, and it gave him a way to deal with quiet, lonely hours. Plus, people liking it when he brought cookies to school was always a bonus.Interacting with @Lark Flaer
As Lark complimented him, he blushed at bit at this overwhelming positive response. It wasn't a lot from his perspective, but he was glad that she was so receptive. This whole thing was well, it was scary. And overwhelming and wonderful. He wondered when being here would all catch up with him emotionally, since it hadn't yet but he could feel it coming.
"Why don't we bring him down there right after Charms? They're bound ta have something." He grinned a bit and whispered back "Yeah that sounds like a great idea! I had no idea we could get down there! I guess I'll see you then? Well I mean we'll have class together first but - you get the idea."
A bubbling feeling of warmth rose in his chest. At least here he had done something good. Leaving emotions to fester never helped anyone -- not in his experience. He was so glad that Lark was excited for this small adventure.
"One last thing," he whispered, "Do you have the time? Only I forgot to get breakfast and I know I have class, but I don't know how long it is till it starts? And I think I need to go get some things and well, yeah. Gotta make sure I have enough time I guess."

Letters to Home
James heard the word “breakfast” whispered across the large room and he felt his stomach growl in anticipation. His mind shifted back to the Great Feast and he wondered if that kind of fare was pulled out for every meal. The banana, despite his jeering, had not been enough and the emotion of the morning had made him hungry.
“What do you like to eat for breakfast Logan? I bet they’ve got loads of it down in the Great Hall.”
He stood up and tapped the others on their shoulders motioning for them to follow him.
“Hey, I wanna find out what Hogwarts breakfast is like. You guys wanna come? I hope they’ve got pancakes!”
He didn’t even wait for a response as he raced out the door. Skipping three steps at a time as he raced down from the Owlery. He nearly completely bowled over a Ravenclaw girl on the way. As he made it to the bottom, he realised he had no idea how to make his way all the way to the Great Hall from here.
“Ah, guys? Does anyone know how to get down from here? I’m not willing to get into another fight with a portrait before I’ve eaten at least a sausage...”

Thinking for a moment trying to calculate how long they had all been in the Owlery, Lark bit at her lower lip. Her own stomach seemed to awaken and began to rumble slightly. "It must only be a little after nine. When I left the Common Room it had been about half past eight. We hadn't waited too long and all got up here rather quickly. I'm sure they're-" She was interrupted by James who also seemed to have been awakened by the idea of food. The boy was gone in a flurry just his green shirt a blurry streak to the stairwell.
"We can wrangle him to the kitchen later." Lark laughed to Clem before turning around to head down the stairs as well. Greeting a rather ruffled looking Ravenclaw girl at the stairs she let her pass before following James.
Almost running into the boy she pulled back on the last step.
“Ah, guys? Does anyone know how to get down from here? I’m not willing to get into another fight with a portrait before I’ve eaten at least a sausage...”
"Fight with a portrait?" Lark looked at James curiously. She couldn't wait to hear that story. "Once the others get down here I'm sure Logan and I can show the way."

Logan also heard a bit of Clem and Lark's whispering, but chose to pay it no mind. That was, until James made a comment based on part of what the other two had been saying. "I must admit, back at home I normally tend to just.. skip on breakfast. There's nothing breakfasty that I actually want to eat every morning, after all. So I just.. skip it. But yeah, they'll have lots of it in the great hall."Interacting with @James McMurtrie @Lark Flaer @Clem Larch
He followed James as they then went to the others, and James told them. He then noticed James run off without an answer, and chuckled. "I'll follow him to make sure he can't get himself lost." He then swiftly also left, also not having waited for any reply, and followed James.
He swiftly apologized to the girl that James nearly bowled over, when he saw that happen, and slightly chuckled when he then heard James realize he needed help. He carefully walked over, and smiled. "You're going the right way, fortunately. I can lead the way for you. Also, you got in a fight with a portrait? When?" Logan asked. "That is, if you're ok with me actually asking about that, of course."
