Private with @Koko RiddleIC date: 4th of June, 2019Word Count: 368Thea walked outside onto the grounds. In her hand she held a couple of small packets of seeds which she has received from her mother when she told her about signing up for the gardening errand.
The Hufflepuff girl walked along towards where she could see a bunch of other gardening tools gathered, looking at the sky. It was a nice, warm, day, with a small summer breeze with only a couple of clouds.
She had reached her destination and got down on her knees to look closely at the plants growing by the greenhouse, setting the bunch of packets aside and pulling up her sleeves.
Some of them were typical flowers that ones would see in a garden, but there was also an abundance of magical plants that Thea has never seen before. The girl smiled at the thought of how nuts her mom would go if she saw these - Anastazja had a true passion for gardening, and Thea helped her set up a small garden next to their house.
Thea stood up and walked over to the tools provided and picked up a pair of gloves, some basic tools she would need if she wanted to plant new flowers, and a light blue watering can.
Scrambling to hold together all of the items without dropping any of them, she had returned to her previous spot and started to water the flowers carefully. It was still sunny, but not too hot for it to become dangerous to water the plants, or perform any work outside.
As Thea walked alongside the small plants, making sure not to step on any of them, she wasn't exactly looking in front of her, or where she was going; her mind rather focused on not pouring too much or too little water without any given instructions on what some of the plants liked. Therefore it was no surprised she bumped into another first year student, a Slytherin girl, splashing some of what was left inside the watering can onto the other girl's robes.
"I'm so sorry!" she shouted and immediately dropped the now empty watering can in the ground and looked at the other student in shock. "I'm so sorry..." she repeated.

Money. Money was something that people wanted, that people would kill for. Money was what made the world go round, or at least that was how Koko saw it.
She had heard that her very own Head of House would be giving students money to do chores, and this was not an opportunity to pass up. The little girl couldn't help but want money. It would grant her the ability to buy something, perhaps something for her brother, or maybe a pet. She kept giving a few galleons away, so why not get some extra sickles to make up for it?
Koko loved gardening. One might say that she had a green thumb. So naturally, she had pulled on some gloves and a pair of rainboots. She looked... younger, at least wearing this. She still wore her school robes over her uniform for the sake of not getting detention, and her caramel-blonde hair was pulled back in a ponytail that a cheerleader might wear.
She made her way out to the campgrounds with a confident smile on her face. However, that smile soon faded as weight found her and water splashed upon her. "AAaaaaAAAAH!" the girl screeched, her eyes suddenly alight with fury. "What the hell?!?" she cried.
The girl who had bumped into her - a Hufflepuff who she didn't know - started apologising. Koko's cheeks flushed red; partially from embarrassment and partially from anger. Couldn't children these days be more careful? But then Koko noticed the seed packets that were near the other girl. She thought for a moment. Should she stay angry? Should she not be angry but look angry? Or should she just forget about being angry in the first place?
Koko decided to force on a nonchalant expression though she was still pissed off. The girl quite obviously didn't mean it. "Don't worry about it," she said, dismissing but not accepting the other girl's apologies. "Or, don't worry about it if you'll let me plant these with you," Koko suggested, holding out her gloved hands. "I like water; it was just a little... surprising."
If one didn't know her, they would think that she was being entirely genuine. She was being... more than halfway genuine. She just wanted to plant flowers, but she also didn't want the redhead to think that she could take advantage of Koko. So... She would be nice, sure, but she would also be careful. One could never be too careful - better safe than sorry.

Total Word Count: 749The other girl cried out with anger and her eyes lit up as if someone just killed her entire family instead of just splashing some water onto her robe. Regardless, the lit up eyes made Thea's expression go from slightly worried and apologetic to straight up terrified and she flinched at the girl's words, taking a tiny step back.
"I'm sorry!" the Hufflepuff cried out and she could feel her both going red from embarrassment and pale from fear. The Slytherin girl had something about her posture and how she presented herself that made Thea's hands slightly shake.
The girl put on a nonchalant expression and told Thea not to worry... If she shares her seeds and let's the girl plant some of them with her. Quite an odd proposal, or so Thea thought. This girl who in a matter of seconds went from confident, to enraged over some water, to nonchalant, was asking her to share a packet or two of seeds? Thea was still scared, but was now slightly confused as well, adding to the already excessive amount of emotions.
"Oh... Uh... Why?" she asked uncomfortably, putting her hands in the pockets of her robe and looking back at the Slytherin in front of her - she had honey blonde or even straight up golden hair pulled back into a tight ponytail, and equally golden, enchanting eyes that didn't look so terrifying anymore.
Thea calmed down, but still took a step back to pick up the watering can she had dropped, and then took a look at the seeds, making sure no one took them during her run in with the Slytherin. They were very typical flowers - namely begonias, azaleas, chrysanthemums, and a couple more.
"They're really nothing special..." she spoke quietly. Well, they were special to her - her mom sent them here after all, and most things she had gotten from her family she valued and looked after as if it was a part of her - things ranging from teddy bears from different parts of the world which Thea obsessively collected to rocks from every country they had visited together.
"If you want to." she added and looked at the ground as she turned on her heel and walked towards the seed packets, assuming the other girl followed her.

Ah, fear. Fear was good if one wanted to have power or wanted to have influence, but not if they wanted to gain trust. And that was just it - Koko wanted to gain the trust of this other girl before it was too late. She needed people to trust her, and she was finally noticing that she didn't have any friends. It would probably be good to have some...
The girl exhaled with a sigh as she listened to the Hufflepuff. "Seriously," Koko said, "Don't be sorry. It's fine."
Koko nodded, that yes, she wanted to plant some flowers. Make the castle much homier. Make it cosy. Make it beautiful. Koko followed the Hufflepuff to the packets of seeds and picked up one... Plant it one centimetre deep... That would work. Koko began to dig a hole, thankful that she wore gloves because the gloves prevented her from getting dirt under her clipped fingernails. Koko opened the pack of seeds and placed one about a centimetre deep... One couldn't be exactly sure without a measurement tool. The blonde then scraped dirt back over the small hole she had made.
She stood up, analysing her work. Of course, she had only planted one flower, but that didn't stop her from doing any more. The girl dug another hole, still using her hands, and she placed a seed in the ground after taking it from the packet. The little snake wasn't ready to plant a million of these, but she was more than willing to make small talk with the Hufflepuff. "Don't you think it's a tad bit warm out here?" Koko asked the girl with a soft smile on her face. Gain trust first. That was what she needed to do.

WC: 317TOTAL WC: 1066Thea's fear faded much slower than it came, even though the fury she had seen in the Slytherin has went away in a flash. She still couldn't shake off the eerie feeling that something with the other girl was very wrong, past the nonchalant expression and golden features.
As the sun was shining brightly, the Hufflepuff has pulled her hair into a tight ponytail, much alike the cheerleader one the snake had, but messier. It didn't help ease the fact that the robes were not very friendly in the sunny weather, and she quickly realized it was not the best protection against the elements.
Thea kept shooting glances at the girl as they had gotten to the seeds and picked up a packet, watching the Slytherin to the same. She looked at the back and quickly skimmed over the directions, knowing she would forget them as soon as she actually gotten to the gardening part of the errand. The girl violently opened the seeds and some of them got out, although she didn't pay much mind to them.
She took her gloves off, as the heat wasn't being very friendly towards the girl, and started to dig in the dirt with her hands carefully, not worrying about the dirt that quickly got on her hands, jeans. Her nails were too short, and instead of focusing on a trivial detail, she was making sure to be as far away from the Slytherin as possible without it seeming rude, even though she hadn't felt terrified anymore.
The Hufflepuff planted some seeds quite quickly, without a care for what their respective packet said, and as if she were in some sort of trans, she got startled when the other girl spoke up. "Oh. Yes, it is." she responded, with a slight quiver in her voice and a slight bit of fear in her eyes as she looked at the Slytherin.

Koko had given up on this girl. Were all Hufflepuffs this terrified? If so, that was only proof that every other House was much better than Hufflepuff. Even Ravenclaws and Slytherins were brave, and Gryffindors were as brave as they were reckless - which was to say, very reckless.
Koko began to plant more of the seeds, imagining just how wonderful the grounds of Hogwarts would look when the flowers bloomed. Koko was, to be truthful, very excited. Perhaps they would already be sprouting and blooming by the time she returned for her Second Year at Hogwarts. The blonde couldn't wait for her Second Year - she would be older than a third of the students at the school, and she would be allowed to boss them around. Why? Because they were supposed to listen to their elders, of course!
She smiled to herself while drowning in her thoughts. They weren't terrible thoughts. They were only envisionments of what might be to come in the summer. She would go to an Ice Cream Parlour, but an American one! She would learn about American currency and all things American! And... well... Her father was likely to try and educate her on Muggles. That was what she was not looking forward to. Muggles didn't seem worth it. They never did anything, except for the amazing game of football (soccer, to you Americans out there). Koko enjoyed watching it, but she could never understand the perks of watching it on some odd Muggle device called a 'television'. There was no exhilarating rush of excitement once you realised that your team had scored a goal - or at least, it was nothing like watching it in person.
Koko had only seen one game of football in her life, so she couldn't immediately say that Quidditch was better. Still, she actually played Quidditch, so perhaps she would be biased if she said that she would prefer to play Quidditch and soar high above her spectators. It gave the blonde Slytherin a sense of empowerment; the feeling that she was better than anyone else, no. Matter. What.
As she basked in her thoughts of glory, she glanced over at the Hufflepuff once more. "I don't think I've introduced myself. My name is Koko." Her eyes regarded the redhead wearily, but her lips held a warm smile. She held out her slightly dusty hand out to the other girl for a handshake. "What's your name?"
She had finished planting the flowers, and she had also finished covering up the holes that they were planted in as she daydreamed. Koko could multitask pretty well. She felt accomplished.

WC: 341 wordsTotal WC: 1407 wordsThe two planted their seeds in silence, Thea only sometimes shooting small glares at the Slytherin before quickly looking back at her own work. She had to admit, the other girl was much more clean with what she did, and while after Thea's work you would find a bunch of small piles of dirt on the ground, the other girl kept them clean, probably following the instructions.
She looked down at her work again after seeing a smile on the other girl's face and frowned. She wasn't sure if these would even stand a chance to grow properly. The Hufflepuff sighed, but kept working, trying to keep them aligned with the Slytherin's work.
Thea's frown soon turned into a sour smile, thinking of the summer. Usually she'd be ecstatic to leave behind the workload and travel with her family, to be able to spend days just playing with the dog, or watching Anna dance around the house. Or maybe just wandering the forest without a purpose or a care in the world, being able to forget about everything and everyone for just the small period of two months.
But now, well. she was sure she will miss everything about Hogwarts. It became a second home to her, from the vast grounds she'd spend her time exploring, from the crowded corridors and the magical library. Homework assignments stopped bothering her here, and furthermore, she was astonished at all of the things wizards and witches were able to do with a flick of their wand and a magical word.
Thea was taken out of her thoughts by the other girl speaking up again, and extending a hand. "Kokon?" she repeated confused before realizing her mistake. Kokon wouldn't be a very flattering name, opposed to the actual spelling. "I'm Thea Knott." she shook the girl's hand awkwardly and stood up, picking all of her materials.
"Well, nice to meet you? I have to get going." she blurted out and briskly walked towards the supply station, as far away from Koko as it was possible.Thea exits the thread.

Koko may not have been an extrovert, but she heavily disliked silence. She hummed to herself, trying to make it less awkward as she worked. Had she made a terrible impression on the other girl? Most likely. Would she regret it? Probably.
Koko had never been known to be extremely tactful. Sure, she was usually a relatively kind person. Sure, she was mostly scared of everyone in Hogwarts. But did she show it often? Koko thought not. Of course, she couldn't be entirely sure about it, but she also would be very surprised if she were openly terrified of the rest of the students. They were scary, sure, but Koko thought she had just enough politeness to not do that.
The other girl stood up all of a sudden, introducing herself and saying that she had to go. "O-oh," Koko said in response, watching her walk away. Concern filled her golden eyes, but she really was just ignorant. She wasn't that sure of what type of impression she had cast upon the Hufflepuff. She herself didn't want to be viewed as a scary person. That would make her a hypocrite, and she wasn't ready for that. Not yet.
Koko finished covering the seeds with dirt, and she also went to the supply station - albeit as far away from Thea as she could get. If Thea didn't want anything to do with her, then Koko wouldn't force it. She needed friends. Forcing someone to talk to her was not the way to earn them.
