BACKDATED: School Year of 2018-2019 @Falentra Black
A student plays a game of football in his usual spot just outside of the pitch, but it was only happenstance that someone crossed the warpath that his football paved. Hopefully, she'd forgive him for this SNAFU, one that clearly embarrassed him.
It was only supposed to be a curve kick, a kick often used to throw off a goalkeeper from the perceived direction of the ball. Instead, Reid watched in horror as the ball ricocheted to instead come straight for a girl handling what seemed to be her books. "Head up! Ay!" he shouted. But it was far too late for when the ball collided, Reid was far too slow to do anything and he wasn't willing to use a spell to stop it.

He jogged faster towards the student, mortified and a little spelled over the mishap he created. He was in a pair of athletic shoes, long socks, shorts, and his typical gray hoodie over the whole thing. "I'm so sorry -" A sigh escaped him as he bent down to help her up and assist with picked up her things. "Was trying to curve it. Din' mean to hit you with it, honest."

He almost babbled as he picked up one of her fallen things, his voice even cracked due to puberty and his panic. Was she mad? He was going to find out soon. Scully squirmed in his hood, having always ridden in Reid's small compartment like a lazy child. He didn't give off any idea of what house he might have been in, but he was clearly around her age.

The library had become far too noisy for Falentras liking. It was past midday now and many students had managed to wander into the room that was supposedly meant to be quiet and for studying purposes only. But it now seemed to be some sort of place for a 'get to together'. It didn't fit well with Falentras needs, and rather than rising to their immaturity she scooped up her books, clutching them tightly against her chest and making her way out the room as fast as possible.

If there were to be anywhere that was quiet and that was most likely on staying that way throughout the remainder of the day, it was outside, far from the castle were not too many students ventured in groups. The Quidditch Pitch had a decent sized patch of grass not too far away, where a few students played football every so often, but there were still areas in which Falentra could sit by and keep to herself whilst she read.

It wasn't long until that bundle of rage that she held inside was clearly getting to her. Her pace fastened and her expression clearly showed annoyance, and that was only about to get worse. Being deep in thought meant she wasn't watching her surroundings and had ventured too close to those who were playing football. A sharp sting met with her forearm and in reaction she jolted and fell back onto the grass, instantly snapping out of her own little world. ''B-Bleedin' 'ell!'' She cursed, her hands and books now covered in the mush of wet grass. It wasn't until she looked up that she noticed... acknowledge the voice and presence of a boy. He must have been the one that kicked the ball her way since his expression was quite humorous to look at. ''I'm fine.'' She snapped in annoyance, hoping it was enough to cut off his continuous nonsense of how sorry he was. It clearly wasn't her day and her temper was bad enough as it is.

It was only when she was back on her feet and had gathered some of her books off the ground into her unharmed arm that she was to able to move her injured wrist in a circular motion, trying to ease off the pain. Although her expressions didn't show, he had definitely caught her pretty well. And whilst she struggled, she still raised her free hand to move the wild, stubborn strands of black hair that covered part of her face behind her ears, making her features more visible for the other to see. It wasn't necessarily a good thing. Falentras eyes were the darkest of browns and were accompanied by dark circles that sat heavily under her eyes. Her skin was pale, but against her dark hair and eyes, it made her look ghostly.
She took a quick look at the lad before eyeing up the ball not far from where they stood. ''You got a metal ball within that football of yours or wha?'' Her Manchester accent made it hard for most to understand, so she was half expecting him to repeat what she asked.

Clearly she wasn't happy, he probably wouldn't be too, but that didn't make him feel any less good about what he did. He took note of her features, maybe he's seen her before - once or twice in the halls. But he really couldn't tell much since his memory was short lived and he disappeared a little. He didn't know people by names, but he could spot faces every now and then.

The boy picked up the ball, wearing a pained expression as he noticed her wrist. The outburst and the way she moved it indicated as much and he could only attempt to be as cordial as he could be with the student. Reid never went out of his way to be unwelcoming or even antagonistic, he knew he was in the wrong. As much as his pride sort of told him to lose the guilt, the wizard divvied up his mistakes and lack of caution.

Her accent was different, northerner maybe? He came from the midlands of England, straight to the middle of it all next to Nottingham. But he was far too young to be exposed to the different dialects of north, mid, and south. So it came down to him looking a little confused at what she asked. "You what?" He didn't seem to give off much except for the deeper -u sound that came with his region's dialect.

But nowadays, it was honestly hard to catch that, all that seemed to matter was if it was easy enough for people to understand. Regardless, he felt bad for having her repeat it and quickly followed up. "Raight, I let loose since not 'lot of people come about this part of t' pitch ..." He rubbed his wrist. "How's your hand doin'? I can carry your books if you'd like." His brown hair tousled in the wind, causing him to squint and almost scowl from the way it hit him. This wind would've been nice sooner than later so his ball didn't end up hitting the student.

Her eyes watched his movements with caution, trying her best to figure him out somewhat through his gestures and general body language since she wasn't getting too much from his accent, although there were certain words that she felt she said in the same way as him. It took her a moment to come to and snap out of her own little world, once again. She shook her head in response to his question in an offer to help her and instead tightened the grip on her books. There wasn't any way she was going to let someone help her. She never had and just because she had hurt herself wasn't going to make her come across any weaker than she was probably already showing. ''S'right—...'' She paused and cleared her throat, her fingers rubbing against the fabrics of the books from a buildup of awkwardness. ''It's..alright.''
Was she to thank him for the offer? Yes, obviously. But simple things like this is what made Falentra awkward and struggle in holding a conversation or at least making people feel somewhat comfortable around her.

Her lips parted shortly after as though she was about to say something, but she managed to stop herself midway and instead reached out with her free hand to quickly knock the ball from his grip and replace it with her books. This was her way of saying thank you. It may not have seemed like it to him, but Falentra wasn't one to go out her way and pester someone for help. It really did make her feel weak, and she worried that that was how he was going to see her. '' 'ere then.''
There weren't actually that many books to carry, just ones based on Transfigurations and Charms; one of her favoured subjects, and one she struggled the most with. Either way, the weight shouldn't have been too much of an issue for the boy.

Her hands were now free, so she decided to reach down and take his football into her own hands, spinning it around between her two index fingers. Falentra really hadn't said much for him to be able to give much of a response to, other than to have him stand there awkwardly. ''I'll give you a game if you want?'' She gave the boy a brief smile, one so quick that he may not have even seen it himself if he had his eyes closed for that split second. ''Do you often play alone out 'ere?'' Whilst questioning the boy, she let the ball drop in front of her, the tip of her foot nudge gently against it. Never had she played football before, but she knew of it and had watched people play before, so she understood the basic gists. That didn't, however, make her have any high chances of being good at it. ''I'll go easy on you, don't worry.... but that doesn't mean I won't kick your arse. And if you lose, you gotta do summat with that hair before you start a fight with it for real.'' She couldn't help but smile again, but this time it remained on her face. It seemed she was managing to open up to this stranger quicker than normal, to say she didn't know his name or house. It was a strange feeling, but she didn't mind it. It was just going to take some getting used to, that was all.

Slowly, she seemed like she was opening up and it made him seem more at ease around her. Even though she did slap his ball out of his hands and replace it with her books, his mild irritation quickly dissipated from his features. He held her books firmly and watched her fumble through the conversation, not that he seemed to even pick up as he was onto the next best thing - which was her offer to play ball. A bright and undeterred smile launched on his lips as his green eyes seem to light up at the words.

It seemed like she was going to enjoy herself too anyway, he didn't expect her to smile or even maintain it for longer. But even if she was egging him on, Reid was already well versed with the typical schoolyard behavior. Plus it was about time that he actually found another opponent to play with. "Come on then, les' see if you hold your own as good as you hold your books." he jested, stepping back.

The student placed her books on top of his jacket, just so it didn't get dirty. Did she play football too? He planned to ask her later - though he realized he never even introduced himself. "I'm Reid by the way -" He glanced at his clothes, no indication of house. "Hufflepuff, second year." he introduced, swinging his arms. "Do you play? Any favorite team?"

Reid didn't see too many girls play football, he knew they watched it, but the boys were somewhat hogs and they didn't really share with the girls back in his school. He was guilty of not sharing, but he's changed now and kicking around with her wasn't really a matter of gender, he just wanted to play. She seemed a little abrasive at first, but he didn't really take much of what was said to heart.

It never dawned on him that a simple game could be a way for someone to open up. Football was a universal sport, no magic, just pure skill and fun behind it. There wasn't much injury like a bludger would do, but it garnered the same fervor and passion from fans, which he happened to be one of.
