Another Tower, a New Friend
PV with the awesome @Quinn Healy
With a soft sigh Alan was pulling his trunk behind him and he felt sad. Holidays meant for him that he would be spending most of the time in his guest room at his aunt's place. He missed his parents and while they always send him owls it was just not enough and Alan felt just really selfish with the way he was thinking about this matter. His father was sick and all he could think about was them being so far away; not even on the same continent. Alan had never ever before been so far away from his parents and he wondered if he could really visit them for a week or so. He hoped so; could not wait any longer to finally see their faces again. However he also was scared, at how sick his father could look; then again he was around Healers for over a year, so he must feel better or so the young Gryffindor hoped.
Second year over and with Scott being with Ami, a nice young girl how Alan thought, he was not sure who to sit with. Was Elena even on the train? She did not send an owl and he made the mental note to send her an owls right when he arrived this so called home. Another sigh left his lips as he found a somewhat empty compartment in the train. This was good news, making a small smile grace his lips, as he shyly looked around to see if there were any familiar faces for him to greet. However there were none, except maybe a few older students?
Alan took a look at his trunk and tried to pick it up and put it into the trunk storage above the seats, but it was way too heavy. He should have gone to a professor to cast a feather light charm on it, but he thought they might be busy at the end of the year. He tried to pick up his trunk again, while thinking about another solution...

Quinn was really excited in truth, and it showed on their face. The usual conflict of late nowhere to be seen in their emerald-blue eyes. A perpetual and subtle smile mounted on their lips. A relaxed demeanor and air about them. That's just how much Quinn missed home, that's how much he looked forward to seeing the comforts. No voices in his head that day either. It was a good day.
Now Quinn was a large boyo, so finding someone who was willing to let him with them in any of the compartments was a bit harder then he would like. Combine that with the trunk he was actually carrying in front of him, which was unusual considering how heavy those things were generally. He looked out of place simply put and kinda imposing. He entered the next compartment and this one was actually looking a bit sparse. There were even some seats that looked like they could comfortable hold him. This brought a wider smile to his pink lips. It was around that time he also noticed a much shorter boy struggling to hoist their trunk up into the overhead bin. Walking over and ignoring the curious stares, he put his trunk above the boy with relative ease. Still had to be careful but its not like it was super heavy. Just heavy enough he had to be careful.
He then bent down, 'Remember Quinn lift with your legs.' He thought to himself, lifting the trunk off the ground with a soft grunt. "Here let me help ya with that." His accent thicker then molasses caused his words to sound less intelligible then they should have. With another soft grunt he got the trunk positioned above where presumable the smaller boy was gonna sit. "Oi, is that good enough? Need me to move it?" He cocked his head slightly to one side. Despite how tall he was, which in its own right could be concerning he came off as quite friendly. Which he very much wanted.

Alan did neither notice nor hear the pair of feet approaching, too busy with lifting the trunk that was kind of heavy. So when he suddenly heard a voice from right next to him, he flinched in surprise and let go off his suitcase.
He turned to look for whoever it was and noticed a tall boy, he had never really seen before. Well he probably did see him before, but Alan could not remember ever talking to him. When Alan ever assumed that Hugh must have been tall, then this boy must be a giant or something. In silent astonishment he watched the taller boy heave up his trunk with more or less ease, making the Gryffindor smile lightly.
”Oh, no, thanks; You can leave it as it is, ...- y-your name is?”, he blinked as he sat down at the table. He made a movement with his hand, motioning for the other boy to sit down on the bench ahead of him, facing his side of the small table in the compartment of the Express. ”I'm Alan, in case you were wondering. Alan Vanes, Gryffindor”, he introduced himself nervously; not even knowing if the other boy cared to know his name. He seemed nice anyway, so Alan hoped they could chat on the way home. The train ride would take a couple of hours, so it would be boring all on his own and he was too tired to bother looking for any face he knew, so why not make a new friend?

"Healy...Quinn Healy at your service." Flashing an oh so witty grin, the tall boyo took their seat across from the stranger known as Alan. Rather quickly his eyes glanced over the boy, he could tell something was up they seemed...rather well nervous maybe? He could mainly tell from the way they stuttered their words, and the looks he was getting. He had hoped that James Bond reference had helped smooth things over a bit more.
"ey ey relax ah'm just ah humble Hufflepuff, though who ye ask mae beg to diffah." Allowing it to flow out a bit more naturally. Quinn let their thick accent, that was normally kept well hidden come out to play. He paused for a moment, as if waiting for something. It was a bit odd but not uncomfortably long. Barely a blip on the weird radar. "Anyway tiny Vanes where ya headed too? Ya know besides the station?" He laughed, it was hardy and came from his gut.
He let his large hands rest on the table as he sat back. Their was now a mess of large firey auburn curls. Pulled back into a loose man bun. Seems they let their hair grow out, a bit more than usual these days. It looked a bit odd on him for the time being. Seemed he liked it though considering how he messed with his hair to try and keep it in place. His hands if one looked were quite rough, having more than a few callouses and scratches.

Alan could not help the snicker that slipped past his lips upon hearing the accent of the other boy; Quinn Healy as he had introduced himself to the smaller Gryffindor. Alan could not help but relax a bit, Quinn seemed just too nice to not relax around him, so Alan just smiled lightly at him.
”Well for one, the Station”, he said with a sheepish grin that showed a bit of his teeth, before he continued to answer the question the boy had given him, ”And hom... well yeah, home. I will go to my aunt's home, she is really nice!”, he explained to the Hufflepuff. However he had stumbled a bit over his last sentence; it was not his real home, but more of something where he would live while his parents were out of reach. It was a year already and Alan remembered that it had been barely a year, when his parents told him that his father was sick. The young boy sughed and shook his head to get rid off the negative thoughts as he knew he would have to deal with that kind of thoughts enough once he actually was at his aunt's place.
”What about you, where are you headed, Quinn?”, he asked curiously, with an honest interest. Sure it was also so that he did not have to think about his parents, but also because he just really wanted to befriend the tall boy in front of him; even if he had been called tiny, he was average height!

"Where am i 'eaded 'oehh? Quite semple really. 'eaded 'ahme to doehblin, 'ave a few dings to care o'." His accent rolled off even thicker on the tongue then cold molasses in the dead of winter. For split second as they said those last few words, the redheads expression soured. But as quickly as it appeared, the expression disappeared as if never there. "Yooehr aoehnt's place sooehnds foehn. Any special plans dere ahr are ya joehst stayin dere?" He asked after a brief moment of thought, his smile returning to him. It was large, and bright as his usual personality.
He enjoyed talking to the smaller boyo, in truth, despite having only just met them. It was nice, it was drama free, and it was relaxing most of all. So much less stressful then his usual state of mind as of late, which was part of the reason he had some business as his granda would say to deal with it. "Boeht yeah i am 'eaded 'ahme, shooehld be foehn. Get to see me sester's and family. Can get into mahre trooehble too 'eh!" The young huffle exclaimed quite excitedly after all a mischievous smirk finding its way across their face.

Alan Vanes
Alan had a bit of trouble understanding the taller kid, as the accent the boy was talking with was very thick. But Alan, with some luck and guessing, would at least be able to get what the Hufflepuff wanted to say to him or hoped he would get close enough to knowing. "Dublin? I don't think I have ever been there, but I have been in Galway with my parents before!", he explained with a small smile. It had been a couple of years since that vacation, but he did remember loving the place they were staying at. It was pretty and had a lot of nature and places where he could just sit by the water and train his abilities in the hidden.
"I think I will be just staying there, I don't know, if she had planned anything", a frown found its way onto his face, before he gently shook his head to concentrate on the now, instead of spacing out in Quinn's presence. "I know I have seen you around in classes, but how come you are so tall for your age?", Alan suddenly asked curiously, not being able to held back his curiosity about the other boy's height much longer.

It didn't really take him much if any thought to come to a decision on his last question. "'Eh well you'll fend ooeht eventually." He rubbed the back of his neck sitting back in his seat staring down at the young Gryffindor. A small smile graced his pale pinkish lips. "I am a 'alf-giant, and no i'll naht explain 'ow dat wahrks. I am a 'alf-giant and dat's dat." He was quick to explain and then warn. His voice was firm and there was definite evidence of the subject being touchy for him.
"Anyway doehblin is a beautifoehl city, so is de cooehntry side especially in wenter. Boeht autoehmn is me favahrite time o' year always 'as been." He went on further to explain, a light of happiness and joy shining in his deep eyes. Contrary to his size and how he usually carried himself, the boy seemed to love talking. Especially about things that truly intrigued or were dear to him. It was the simplest form of joy on full display in this tall Hufflepuff.
His eyes never left the small Gryffindor. As if the entire time he talked, he was also examining and analyzing them. Too many the direct eye contact could be a bit too awkward but that was one of his quirks, from growing up. He liked being upfront with people and making sure they knew that his full attention was on them. Luckily in this instance, his eyes were a bit softer and body was relaxed.

"Anyway Dublin is a beautiful city, so is the country side especially in winter. But Autumn is my favorite time of year always has been."

Alan chuckled slightly, shaking his head. "I know they exist, I just have never met anyone who is one, or at least I don't think I did", he explained with a light smile, before he began to look through the small backpack that he had still with him, where he put all the candies for the way. "Want some?", he asked as he pulled out a hilarious amount of chocolate frogs from his his backpack and just dropped them all o the table between them carefully.
Alan nodded as he listened, slowly getting used to the way Quinn was speaking and it did not bother him in the slightest. "Maybe you could show me around there at one point? I could visit you in one of the breaks, if that is okay with you and your parents?", he asked curiously, hoping that this was an okay question to ask. But he hoped it would not bother Quinn, because he really liked the guy and wanted to be his friend. That was, once again, if he wanted to be a friend of his. Alan was bad at making friends, so he usually just ended up with people that were acquaintances, even if he really wished for more friends that he could share secrets and cause trouble with.

"Yes! You definitely should come an visit us. I can show ye around all of Dublin and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH 'E DONUT SHOPS!!" He all but screamed eyes practically glowing as he was filled with a sudden energy. No one had really made a request of him like that and it absolutely excited him. He wasn't really sure why but it was true none the less.
"Oh an 'en ah can introduce ye to me family, an friends there. Oh maybe even show ye the country side too and the cottage!" He practically vomited all the words onto him. Seeming to realize what he just did the Half-Giants face quickly lit up bright red obscuring many of his freckles. An right after he apologize profusely for the sudden outburst bowing his head slightly as he did so. "Oh god's can ye forgive an idiot like me. Are ye okay!? I didn't mean to just...uh scream at ye like that ah just get so excited sometimes. Ah'm so sorry!"
Quinn nervously rubbed his hands and twiddled his thumbs now looking down an away. He knew at times he could be a lot and he just did not want Alan a new friend in his life to suddenly not want to hangout with him anymore because of his very...unique personality(s).
