Interacting with @Poppy Lytle | @Emily Shephard Date - xx/10/24 WC 417/400 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts The noise of cauldrons being banged against, ingredients being prepared and students chattering away to one another filled the great hall, somehow it was even noisier than during any of the feasts they had enjoyed during the 2 years at Hogwarts. But now was the time to focus, and not get distracted by said noise, as there was a potion to be made and that had to be made perfectly.
Although potions wasn't Mylo's strongest subject they had still decided that it would be a good idea to join the championship that was being held, as it would be the perfect place to practice their skills and to also see if they could be useful in an instance where they would have to use one, and not just in a classroom setting.
So along with their two teammates, after the rules had been explained and they had been told where they could get their ingredients, they had decided on a potion to brew; Dogsbreath potion, which would let you breath fire. It would be very effective against the redcaps as they most likely weren't too stupid to get close to someone breathing fire. They knew they weren't allowed to harm the creatures, but if they kept their distance and didn't get too close to the fire they could basically create a shield that would hopefully harm nobody, as obviously that wasn't Mylo's intention.
As they had to evenly divide the steps of the brewing aspect Mylo had volunteer to go first, getting all the necessary ingredients first so they wouldn't have to worry about that once the potion had started brewing.
Looking around the table for their first ingredient Mylo spotted the water, measuring out 10 fluid ounces they added it to the still cold cauldron, followed by chopping the 3 batspleens that they had collected, never really enjoying the texture of some of the ingredients they used during potion making, and adding them to the cauldron. Reading the next step he carefully stirred the ingredients once clockwise, immediately following the step by putting on their protective gloves and adding in the singular fire seed they had gotten.
Taking the gloves off Mylo looked at their watch, making sure to count exactly 5 minutes to give the fire seeds time to bring the cauldron to a boil. After which they handed off the next steps to their teammate @Poppy Lytle.
"Good luck! If you need any help or anything preparing let us know." Mylo added, hoping they'd done the steps right.

Potion time!
Poppy waited patiently as she saw the older class man work diligently on their potion. Her potion. The teams potion. Man it felt good to be part of a team. It become a point of pride that two upper class man had agreed to do this with her. She wasn't even the strongest in potions. She did better in Defense Against the Dark arts. It caused a couple of comparisons to her mother, who apparently started working a year ahead of her peers because of how skilled she was. Poppy could only hope to someday be advanced enough to be considered for such an honor.
When she was tagged, she took a deep breath and got to work.
Okay, the first thing she had to do was stir the pot one counterclockwise. That was easy enough. She could do this.
Okay next was to pour three fluid ounces of Fire Whiskey into a ladle and slowly incorporate it into the potion. Slowly, how slowly was slow? She probably couldn't go too slow, so she would allow herself plenty of time!
Now she had to stir slowly until the surface of the potion begun to burn with a blue flame. She said a silent prayer to not let anything else catch on fire when the flame formed. Once she ripped the bandaid off, and the flame started all seemed fine. She pulled the ladle out as fast as she possibly could. Perfect one last step.
She waved her wand over the potion and then left the rest to @Emily Shephard. "Finish strong, you got this."

Potioning with @Poppy Lytle and @Mylo Atkins
Tagging in, now that Poppy had completed her tasks, Emily hurried in to take over, feeling like she was born ready. Potions, among other subjects, was her jam! It was like home cooking but with a little extra spice... And weird ingredients, concoctions and other bizarre additions that probably could've made it sound less like home cooking in hindsight. Still, potion brewing was oddly relaxing as it was a creative outlet. Championship or not, she was positive she was going to enjoy this either way.
After Poppy finished up her last step, Emily ran through her mental checklist of what to do. She only had a few steps left to do before the potion would be ready, but even a single mistake could put everyone's efforts in flames... And the potion was doing enough of that as it is! Both Poppy and Mylo had done a cracking job so far, as their efforts have proven with how well the potion brewing process had gone so far. Emily was bouncing to keep up the momentum, only to remember that her first step in her turn involved waiting around for roughly two minutes while the potion burned. She didn't want to spend that long doing nothing...
"Wait!" She was quick on her heels as she remembered something she could do in the meantime. She mentally chided herself; there was always something to do in the kitchen, and potion brewing was no exception, especially in a competitive format.
Of course! She sprung to work in finding a knife and a valerian root among the ingredients and tools splayed out across the table. Once she found what she was looking for, she wasted no further time and began chopping up her valerian root into fine cubes while the potion did it's two minutes of burning in the background. She took her time, careful not to nick her finger or cut up the root into wonky shapes, knowing that would most likely set the brew and the group back. When that was done and with the cubes to her standards, she added them to the cauldron. She carefully took a glance at the cauldron and watched as the valerian cubes disappeared and blended into the fiery brew. All seemed to be going to plan so far. It wasn't doing anything strange out of it's already extraordinary circumstances at the very least.
She noticed that the potion had stopped burning and so took a utensil and began to stir it carefully in an anti-clockwise direction. She did this twice as instructed to top off the brewing process. She basked in the success of the now purple potion in front of her. Now that it was all done she waved to her teammates.
"Mission accomplished, you guys!"
That went better than she initially anticipated. The three of them ought to be proud of themselves.
