Walking to the Owlery, Lark threw the cord holding her journal over her head and adjusted it to sit across her chest before tucking it under her robes. Picking up her pace the girl fussed with her hair, hurriedly tossing it up into a ponytail. Not that the beds had been THAT cozy but she had overslept this morning meaning she was running later than expected. She was supposed to be meeting James there to help him send a letter out to his family. Lark wasn't sure if Logan or Clem would show up. The four had talked at the house table last night during the Sorting Ceremony and it all had seemed to go rather well. James had invited the others to come send off letters to their families as well. 'Crap crap crap.' She cursed to herself as she rounded the corner meeting the spiral staircase that led up to the Owlery.
Lark waited for awhile hoping that maybe James would be running a little late as well. A couple students passed by her, some of them giving a nod in greeting while another seemed too busy to look up from a book they were involved with.
After getting to the Common Room last night once the Sorting Ceremony had ended and Prefects showed the first years to their House rooms, Lark had stayed awake in the dorm. Partially due to the excitement of the evening but also trying to wonder what she would even say to her parents. All summer she had heard absolutely nothing from any of her family for that matter. Giving one last look around hoping to catch James she looked up the stairway.
"Maybe he went up already?" Lark wondered. Her fingers tapped at her side where her journal lay hidden under her robes. Should she stay and wait? If she did and he was up there already with the others it would just make her more late. But if he hadn't come yet and she moved from this spot he might miss her and go back to the Common Room. Her mind raced trying to go over the proper action to take. 'Why hadn't you let me interact with more people my age.'Lark thought of her parents. Taking a breath to try and press back any anxious feelings, she pulled out a neatly folded up piece of parchment sealed with the signature red Hogwarts stamp. Had she done the right thing writing her message to her family as if nothing strange had happened with her father months ago? It had taken her hours to decide exactly what to say. A little short and sweet maybe but it was all true. The ceremony had gone well, she got into Ravenclaw and had met friends. What more could they want to know? 'Not like they bothered to fill me in...or lemme come home.' She snorted thinking angrily to herself and crossing her arms over her chest. A sharp stabbing pain entered her chest. Lark missed her mother... and her father a great deal more. In fact she was shocked that no one had written to her yet. Her mother had been due to have her baby brother the beginning of July. They must be busy with him now...
Sighing heavily Lark leaned against the cool stone archway to the Owlery. Perhaps she should rewrite the letter? Tell them how she really felt and beg them to reply. She could always owl her Gran if this didn't get any reaction what-so-ever. Another batch of students passed the girl.
"I hope he isn't mad..." Lark's voice trailed off feeling quite embarrassed. Hopefully he hadn't left after waiting for her. Had she really been that late? Lark rested her head back against the wall. Making up her mind she figured she should wait a few more minutes before venturing up the stairway in case James had made his way up before her.

James sprinted down the corridor, at the end of which stood Lark. He hoped that she hadn't been waiting long.
He'd woken up early that morning, half expecting to still be in his old room, having just woken up from a long, strange dream. But there he was, in Hogwarts. Fingers of blue light streamed in from the dormitory window. His heart skipped a beat as he unlatch the window and breathed in the cool morning air.
He wriggled into his jeans and a plain green t-shirt and hurried down the stairs into the Common-Room, not even bothering to tie his trainers as he went.
It was only as the large blue door closed behind him that he realized, he had absolutely no idea where the Owlery even was.
A gaggle of fifth years had passed by on their way to breakfast, and he sheepishly asked for directions.
The directions from a pretty, dark-haired Griffindor girl, were clear, but it didn't matter as navigating through Hogwarts' labyrinthine halls was a skill James had not yet mastered.
He spent the better half of thirty minutes walking this way and that, ending up in the same hallway a total of seven times. After just a little bit of frustrated cursing, and one heated altercation with a portrait of a Centaur, he finally made his way to the base of the Owlery Tower, which happened to be just a short walk from the Ravenclaw Commonroom, much to his frustration.
But as he saw Lark he smiled.
"Bloody, hell! I'm going to be late to every single one of my classes this year, aren't I?" he said, trying to catch his breath.

Logan had woken extraordinarily late that morning, well, at least extraordinarily late by his very high standards for himself. When he had actually woken up, he had made sure to get dressed and organised as quickly as possible, but without forgetting anything, before he swiftly went to the owlery.Interacting with @James McMurtrie @Lark Flaer
Finding the owlery was actually rather quite simple, he'd already researched the entire layout of Hogwarts and all of its quirks, and he got all the way there fairly quickly. However, he definitely was far from being the first one to actually arrive. He looked around, to see if he could spot his friends, and quickly noticed that both Lark and James already there, and were happily talking to each other.
So he nodded at them, smiling slightly, to try to gain their attention. "I'm sorry if you two have been waiting ages for me, I woke up incredibly late." Logan then said as he walked over. "But I'm here now. Need any help with writing your letters?" He asked. He may have been late, but he wanted to be useful, to make up for that stupid mistake. He decided to sit down next to them with a soft smile, ready to help them write their letters and then write one of his own.

Since she had some extra time waiting, Lark took advantage of straightening her hair up more after a sharp look from an older Slytherin girl. Talk about intimidating.
Bending at the edges of her letter Lark pushed off of the stonewall and heard a familiar voice.
"Bloody, hell! I'm going to be late to every single one of my classes this year, aren't I?"
A weight lifted from her shoulders seeing James rush over. She didnt feel so bad being late herself. Although her friend looked a little like he had just run an entire marathon by himself.
"Here I was thinking I had kept you waiting! You alright?" She chuckled and tucked the letter back into her robe pocket.
"I hope not! I guess I'll just have to pull you out of bed myself.. although I was late too if anything we will just be late together." Lark motioned up the long spiral staircase.
"Owlery is just up there. Did ye get time ta write?" Just then Logan came walking towards them, greeting the pair with a nod. She gave him a friendly wave and smile.
"I'm sorry if you two have been waiting ages for me, I woke up incredibly late."
Lark shook her head, silver hair swaying back and forth behind her. "Nah, we both are late too.. but seems like it made us all actually on time ta meet up." Funny how they all had managed to end up being late and still run into each other. They were really all meant to be friends it seemed.
"I ended up staying a bit too late writing but thank ye!" Lark appreciated the thought to help out writing. Logan was a kind friend. "Did'ya happen ta see if Clem was coming too? We can always head up and meet him there if he does?"

Hold on, have any of us owled Clem to make sure he actually knows about this rp?
If not, here's a mention for him to notify him: @Clem Larch

Logan was, actually rather somewhat relieved to hear he wasn't the only one who had been late. "Huh, what a strange coincidence then, that we all were the same amount of time late. It's good though, that we all managed to meet up anyway."Interacting with @Lark Flaer @James McMurtrie
"Ok, so you've already written yours. Has James written his yet? I could help with his - and with the sending of his, since he already asked a lot about that at the table." Logan asked, wanting to still find some way to be helpful to his friends. His friends deserved a helpful friend, after all. They could just drop him without any problems if he wasn't useful, and he hadn't actually eaten that jelly bean, so that could be grounds for him to be kicked out of the unofficially named Fantastic Friends. He didn't want that.
"No, unfortunately. I haven't seen Clem yet today. But honestly, I'm betting he's probably going to arrive around now, because if all three of us arrived here late, he likely also will." Logan slightly joked. "It's almost like.. like we're all connected by fate? Or perhaps some other-worldly power that we can't see or fully comprehend? Though, most likely not. Fate isn't set in stone, and I really don't think we're being controlled by other-worldly powers."

Also yes, I loved the name 'Fantastic Friends' enough that it's the currently unofficial group name. I've even included it in Logan's encyclopedia page. I marked who's in it in the relationships part.

The thing was, Clem was lost. It wasn't like he hadn't asked for directions. It was in fact the first thing he had done upon waking up. No, just like the earth spins, it was a certain fact that Clem would get lost. The problem lay in the fact there was simply so much to see, that if he indulged even the tiniest whim he would get swept off course. So despite the fact that he had woken at a perfectly decent time, it still took him a while to get there. A small clench of worry perched in his stomach but he brushed it off. It would have to be fine. Right? The others were sure to understand. He hoped.
Anyway, he was getting to see Hogwarts! He had already written most of his letter to his parents, but he was itching to add a postscript. There were so many tapestries and ancient relics and everyone just accepted them as normal! It was all a bit overwhelming and he hadn't even found his way to the library yet. Noticing the time, he realized he better start moving, if he wanted to (hopefully) catch the others, and so he entered into a slight jog.
But finally he arrived, just as he caught Logan saying something about fate. Panting slightly, he placed his hands on his knees. "Sorry about that! I guess I was the last one here, huh? I just uh -" he waved a hand in the air vaguely,"have a tendency to get lost. I hope I didn't keep you all waiting too long?"

"Sorry about that! I guess I was the last one here, huh? I just uh - have a tendency to get lost. I hope I didn't keep you all waiting too long?"
"Not at all," he grinned, "We all just got here." he looked a Logan, "Maybe it is destiny".
James fished into the back pockets of his jeans, in one he'd stuffed the three pages he'd torn from an old exercise book that contained everything he could to think to say about the previous day. He paused for a moment... a day, that's all it had been. It could have been a thousand years, for all it felt.
Certain sections of the letter were written, crossed-out, and re-written a number of times. He had to figure out how to write that he was now friends with a girl, without his father sending him dating advice in return.
In the other pocket, he had a very bruised-looking banana. His mother had packed it the day before, among a variety of other foods - Perhaps believing that they wouldn't feed him at all at this new Wizarding School - James thought with a smile, thinking back fondly to how amazing she'd think the opening feast was. He'd figured he wouldn't waste his mother's kindness and started to peel it as he spoke to the others.
"I didn't know if I- like am I supposed to put it in an envelope right now- or are there special ones we're meant to use? Do I just tie it to the thing's leg? Wouldn't that- I dunno- disrupt its flight or something?"

Lark looked a bit shocked at Logan's reaction to fate. "Don't think of other-worldly yet here ye are in a magical castle full of others like ye." She understood others had their own opinions but the boy was also a wizard. How could he not think there was more in this world when he was a part of a large secret other-worldly type place to the Muggles.
"Not ta mention the Hall of Prophecy." Any wizarding family would be aware of the Ministry having such a place. Especially after the history of it just in the past ten years or so. Lark's family was superstitious as it was and extremely traditional. She had never second guessed anything like fate or what was or wasn't meant to be. She didnt need to, she just felt it.
"Sorry about that...." Clem joined the group, breathing heavy as he apologized. Lark made a mental note they all could better organize themselves to meet up. Although it would be hard living in separate dorms, least they shared the Common Room.
"Is that... or was a banana?" Lark poked at the poor fruit. "What have ye done to it?" Giving a laugh she held a hand up to all of James' questions and motioned up the stairs.
"Let's go up and we can send it out." Lark was glad James seemed so eager. The girl went up the stairs first. Heights weren't really her thing but at least there were some walls to make it feel a little less scary. They passed an open window here and there but she neglected to look out. Instead she looked over her shoulder as she went and explained to James about sending letters. The owls were open for students to use and how it had been that way since Hogwarts had been founded. He could write to his parents anytime.
"Ye don't even need ta put the address down. They're fascinating and not ta mention such bright creatures." Lark grinned. "They'll find them no matter where they are, of course unless a spell is hiding 'em." She took a breath, they should almost be to the first landing. "As for how, I usually just ask 'em nicely and try to tuck it towards their beak. They know the drill." Lark thought of the family owl they had. A gorgeous barn-owl who was the sweetest things.
"What about Clem, did ye get a letter all done up? Logan offered ta help write if ye need it." Lark took the last few steps up onto the first landing of the tower. The smell welcomed her first before the site of the straw around the circular stone room, open windows and swooping owls surrounding it. Some perched in their own little spots preening or taking a much needed break. Lark pulled on her jumper. She should have worn a bit more, the wind made it terribly cold.
Standing on the first landing she turned to see a second landing and more stairs leading up. A large brown owl flew by her dipping low, its wing barely rushing her as it shifted silently upwards into an empty perch.
Turning towards the stairs as the three boys came into view Lark waved an arm. "And here we are! Mindful, some might be snippy if they're tired but we can find some ta send our letters out."

"Well, I more meant I don't feel that there are gods or anything like that controlling us, that had been all I meant by that, Lark. I suppose you're correct that to muggleborns this does seem like an entirely different world of it's own.." Logan mused.Interacting with @Lark Flaer @James McMurtrie @Clem Larch
"Also whilst yes, prophecies are good. You do realize that there was another boy Harry Potter's description who could've ended up filling that role, had he been the one attacked as a baby? Neville Longbottom could've fit if his family had been attacked instead of Harry's. So prophecies are only guidelines, in my opinion. Fate is still alterable."
Logan turned to Clem and smiled when he arrived. "Well, with you now here, that makes all four of us the same amount of late. Maybe we really truly are all linked by fate then? I don't know. Maybe if this happens lots of times I'll start believing that fate is predestined and unchangeable." He decided.
Logan smiled at all of James' questions. "Me and Lark can show you once we're up into the part that actually has all the owls." He then watched as Lark climbed up, and carefully followed her, gesturing for James and Clem to both follow, as they both likely needed to learn how to do it.
"I tend to gently tie it to the leg, but I do roll it first so that it doesn't make it difficult for the owl. But yeah, the owls us wizards tend to have are very intelligent. Don't know how they do it, but they do."

"Is that... or was a banana? What have ye done to it?"
"Nothing!" James retorted defensively, "This is a perfectly acceptable banana thank you very much!"
He took a bite out of a very brown end off the bruised fruit and despite it's near-liquid texture he continued to chew on it out of sheer stubbornness.
James followed up the stairs as Logan and Lark, engaged with one another over the existence of fate - a topic he was not willing to broach before he'd even had breakfast - and Logan mentioned prophesies and a few specific names with an air of importance.
Mouth still full with mushy brown banana he interjected, "Who's Harry Potter?" he said, taking another bite and shooting a glance at Lark to make sure she could see him enjoying his banana very much, thank you.
His thought was cut short as he entered the Owlery. It was beautiful, and tall like a cathedral ceiling, and feathers floated through the air like snowflakes. The smell was wonderful, he thought, like his Aunt's old chicken farm. Everything in this place just felt so... alive. For a moment, he had the thought of just lying down in the middle of the room and staring up at the ceiling for hours, watching as the various Owls flitted back and forth in an exotic, organic dance, the moves to which only they knew.
He wondered how Logan must have felt, with the whooshing of a hundred different wings, and the sensation of flitting in every corner. It certainly wasn't the Great Hall by any merit, but it still was a lot to take in.
He laughed as an Eastern Screech landed beside him and he fed it a little piece of banana.
"This place is brilliant!" he beamed.
