"I'm sorry if I am boring.. I'm not used to talking to people my own age." Cosmo shook his head. "No, you're not boring." He never found anything boring, really, but not anything extremely mind-blowing either. He was just kind of in the middle of the spectrum in how the world appealed to him. "You're a very interesting person." He said abruptly, sitting down beside her and looking straight ahead as if nothing had been said. Cosmo wasn't exactly sure what to say now. He sat with his legs straight out in front of him, and his hands slightly behind him. He moved his feet with the same coordination that Newton's Cradle had, with one leg hitting the other, causing the other to move the opposite direction then come swinging back to hit the other one. He liked thinking into the future, wondering what was ahead of him. Would he turn out to fail all his classes and cause a World War over his failing spells? Unlikely, for anyone at all, even if they were that bad at magic. He most likely wouldn't be world-reowned either. More just in the middle. A regular wizard. He couldn't picture having a family though, he would just travel on his own.

Her eyes would follow him as he moved to sit down next to her as she pondered on the fact that he said she was interesting. No one had really said she was interesting before albeit the adults in her life had stated that some of the things, she had spoken with them about were interesting no one had ever directed it towards her person. She would watch his feet as they hit one another in a rhythmic fashion. “Is there anything particular you are looking forward to while you’re here?” She was trying her best to keep the conversation going as this was just something that did not come naturally to her. She didn’t know how to keep a conversation going. “I’m really looking forward to classes. I am excited to learn.” She would tack on after posing her question to him and it was true, she was most excited for her classes.

Particularly potions as she had heard that the professor this year used to work at St. Mungos which is where her mother worked. He basically had the career path that Santario herself wanted which was to work at St. Mungos and the progress to maybe retiring to be the portions professor assuming there was a position available when she made that decision.

"Is there anything particular you are looking forward to while you are here?" Santario said. Cosmo exhaled. He never wanted to come here in the first place, he would much rather stay home. He hated this part of being a wizard. The only reason he was here was because his parents convinced him to, and it was mandatory to go to a wizard school. "No, I do not look forward to any part of Hogwarts." He said, still staring forward, with his ocean blue eyes. His feet were still tapping against each other in a rhythm. He wanted to just leave this school. It sucked. A lot. He didn't have any friends, the classes were hard, the people were confusing, he couldn't get the hang of magic, and above all, he wanted to be home. No where else. Just with his family. He wouldn't be there for a year. His breath was shaky as he exhaled and inhaled slowly. Maybe the school year won't be too bad, Cosmo hoped. Hopefully he would get the whole 'magic thing' and be the best. Maybe he would make friends, lots of them, a whole posse. Reality hit him in the gut. Never gonna happen.

When he said he wasn’t looking forward to any part of Hogwarts she frowned a little. That was a bit hard for her to understand because to her Hogwarts was freedom. Not that she didn’t love her parents and she did miss them dearly, but Hogwarts was her way to be away from home. She finally got to socialize with people her age and with other witch’s and wizard’s like her so there was no fear of exposure. “O-oh… I’m sorry you don’t like it here.” It was just so hard for her to fathom hating it here. “What happened to make you not like it?” She inquired hesitantly as she wasn’t sure if this is something that he would even want to talk about, but then again it wasn’t like they had a whole lot to talk about right now.

She in comparison to him was completely opposite while he moved his feet back, she remained statue still. She didn’t seem to fidget with a single thing at all, but her mind was always racing. A cool and calm exterior hid a mind that just didn’t seem to stop working which more often than not lead to trouble sleeping. She continued to watch him wondering what made it so bad that he just hated it here.

He turned slightly to Santario beside him as she spoke. "What happened to make you not like it?" Cosmo had an easy answer that was on his mind during his entire time here, which wasn't long at all. "I would much rather be home, I never wanted to come here."
He said, almost murmuring. His feet stopped moving, and the dropped to the inside of his legs, the tips of his shoes touching. He took his hands out from behind him where he was propping himself up. Cosmo scooted more up against the cold wall and crossed his arms in front of him. Santario seemed to like this school, he thought he identified confusion in her tone when he said he wasn't looking forward to Hogwarts. Was it confusion? Maybe it was insecurity? Not like he knew. He couldn't understand how a person could like it here. It was too massive, there were too many secrets, the magic was freaky, everything was just... off about this place. The whole feel of it was uncomfortable to Cosmo. He liked the comfort of his home, a nice cozy single story which was all they needed for him, his parents, and the occasional guest. God, how he missed it.

Lark had been wandering through the various hallways that day hoping it would help her acclimate to the layout of Hogwarts better. She had James and her other friends to learn more about which hall led to where but it would be nice to prepared either way. Especially since James had trusted her with helping him. She felt a little bit more responsible to learn more about the ins and outs of the castle.

The young silver haired girl bobbed along down the small hall humming to herself and letting daydreams flood her head with thoughts of what the next years would be like. Deep in thought she grinned like a fool thinking about how he had--

"I would much rather be home, I never wanted to come here." A voice flowed down the hall quietly towards her. Blinking herself back to reality, Lark peered down the hallway. A boy with brown curly hair sat next to a dark haired girl on the floor. The two seemed to be having a serious chat. 'I hope nothing is wrong...' Lark thought concerned. She knew a lot of the first years such as herself had been pretty nervous about their first few days at Hogwarts. The Sorting Ceremony had definitely made her realize just how many others felt as anxious as she had. Making her way closer to the pair, Lark gave a slight wave of the hand in greeting.

"Everythin' okay?" She smiled and gave the girl a quizzical look. Her golden gaze fell to the boy who seemed to be on edge... or some sort of upset.

"You never wanted to come?" Lark raised a brow. "That's a shame. You would miss out on a lot of amazing things! Not to mention amazing people!" Maybe the boy just needed a friend? So far this approach had gone well with the others Lark had met on the first night. Taking another look at him, he seemed rather withdrawn...

"Name's Lark! Nice to meet ye!" Thrusting a hand out towards the girl, by the looks of it she would receive the gesture better than the boy who just seemed in his own head.

"I'm actually headin' towards the Courtyard if ye would like to join?" Lark took a leather bound journal from her robes and tapped the cover with her finger. "I've been wanting ta go out and sketch the last couple of days but didn't have a chance til now."

Santario just really didn’t know how to react to him not wanting to be here. If he didn’t want to be here then why did he come in the first place? She knew that there were some witch’s and wizards that didn’t go to school, but they were heavily watched by the ministry. She was pulled out of her thoughts by the appearance of feet.  She would nod when asked if everything was alright and as the other girl spoke, she would note the silver blue hair and the golden flecks in her eyes. Santario had never seen someone with such a curious paring of looks but she didn’t linger for long not wanting to stare.

When the hand was thrust out to her she would reach her own slender hand up and grasp Lark’s with a firm but not hard grip. “It is a pleasure to meet you Lark, my name is Santario.” So formal even in the way she tended to string words together. Cosmo would definitely be able to tell that she had been somewhat more relaxed and open until the other girl had showed up and now, she was back to being the formal that she had been when she had first happened upon him. “I agree with Lark, Cosmo, I think given time if you allow yourself making friends will be easier and classes get easier. I miss my parents too, but everyone has to start growing up sometime and the knowledge that you can acquire here.”

When it was posed that Lark was headed into the courtyard to sketch Santario would stand herself up, pushing her braid over her shoulder to lie upon her back. “I think going to the courtyard would be a great idea. Why don’t you come with us Cosmo and get some open air? We can get to know each other better and maybe you can consider us your first friends?” For the girl who thought she wasn’t good at making friends seemed to be doing an alright job. She just lacked conversationalist skills which in reality could only get better the more you spoke with people.

Exchanging greetings and handshakes, Lark felt a warm feeling wash over her thankful there hadn't been anything too serious going on.

"Santario. That's such a pretty name!" She liked the sound of it. Not to mention with how lovely the girl looked, her long sleek black hair and stunning blue eyes. Lark tried not to stare in awe although a small part of her felt a twinge of self doubt realizing how grubby she might appear having gotten up late and been too busy to go back to the Dorms just yet. This girl had to be much older than her there was no doubt, she had a certain aura about her.

“I think going to the courtyard would be a great idea..." Listening as Santario spoke to the boy, Cosmo she gathered was his name, Lark tried to give the friendliest smile she could muster in hopes it would help make up his mind.

"Ye have ta start somewhere I agree! I miss my family awful.. but I've found a family here too. I'm sure we can all help each other while we're here." Lark offered up. Along with Santario's words perhaps it would spark something in Cosmo.

If he chose to come Lark would welcome the extra company, otherwise if Santario decided, the two could make their way to the Courtyard.

When the other girl complimented her name a small smile would just play with the corners of her lips. “Thank you.” Her voice soft and lilting like a feather drifting on a breeze. As Lark spoke about missing her family Santario would nod in agreement. She missed hers as well and although she couldn’t say that she had people friends that she missed she did miss cuddling up with the house cat Chell. Sleeping alone could be hard when you were used to sleeping with a warm and fuzzy purr machine.

Although it was noted that Lark seemed like she had probably woken up not too long ago or had maybe just been lying in bed all day Santario didn’t judge. She had her moments too and there was nothing wrong with that in her mind. “I agree so I’m going to head off to the courtyard with Lark and I hope you decide to join us we can chat more.” With that she would walk off with Lark towards the courtyard. It would be good to get some open air and although she didn’t have her camera with her she could at least scope it out for the next time that she was in the area with her camera.
