─────Valentina was excited for potions class, to say the least. While it wasn't her favorite class ever, today she was just having a pretty good day. A Partner project was today's task, focusing mainly on actually creating a potion concoction instead of reading from a textbook constantly. Val seemed to bouncing a little, excited to be apart of the class. She had found that her potions classes were to be taken with ravenclaw, a house she found herself admiring as it held the most intelligent of people. She did still believe herself to be bright minded, despite not being sorted into ravenclaw, but it was clear it was from drive instead of intellect.
Being paired up without a choice wasn't a big deal for val, finding herself grabbing her textbook and moving towards the ravenclaw that she had been paired with. She had never met this girl- honestly Val hadn't talked to many people outside her house yet, but it wasn't something she would let continue- especially with the opportunity she had been given. She put her book down next to the ravenclaw, beginning to speak as she put her hair up as to not burn it off at any point.
"Hey there partner! Im Valentina, or just Val for short. Im excited to do this project with ya! Whats your name by the way?" Val spoke, smiling as she did. She had a certain loudness to her voice that usually threw others off guard, but it was mainly from excitement. She observed the brown hair girl in front of her. What drew to val was her foggy blue eyes, a stark contrast from her dark shade of brown hair. It was shorter than val's but had a similar messiness to it that gave val the feeling that she would love hanging out with the girl, hoping that she didn't just jinx herself by thinking about it.

───────────────────────── september 5th, 2024 ─────────────────────────Lonnie set her books down on the table, settling down as she watched the students pile into the room. Hogwarts so far had been going... okay. It was certainly different. But she was getting the hang of it.
Potions had been one of her favorites so far. Learning actual concepts wasn't exactly her favorite. Obviously, the whole casting spells thing had definitely been an upgrade from the boring math and english lectures she was used to. But still, even at a school for literal wizards, she couldn't escape the dreadful burden of lectures.
That's why she loved potions so much. Mixing together ingredients in a big pot until it bubbled and changed colors (and potentially exploded!) was definitely more of Lonnie's style. Hence, why she had been counting down the days until this one. She was going to brew her first ever potion. It was like the labs she used to do in her school's science classes, except magic. She couldn't wait.
Until the professor said they would be working with partners. Lonnie felt her face drop when those words left the professor's mouth. "Oh," she muttered. Not like Lonnie hated people... she didn't hate anybody really. She had a hard time hating people. But she hated people. They were hard to talk to, especially kids her age. They were all judgy. She had mostly survived with her mouth shut in most of her classes so far. She really didn't understand how people already had so many friends.
Lonnie watched as people were slowly paired one by one. Finally, the professor pointed at Lonnie, then another girl sitting across the classroom. Lonnie watched as the girl picked up her textbooks and walked towards her, a content smile on her face. Lonnie had seen her before. Only in potions, of course, but she had definitely seen her. She had a bad habit of watching. Not in a creepy way, of course, but when she had absolutely nobody to talk to, she'd find her eyes shifting across the classroom as she hyper-analyzed every single one of her classmates. She basically knew everyone in the class at this point. To an extent.
This girl was a Gryffindor. Her hair was dark like Lonnie's, except, unlike Lonnie, her eyes were too. She looked... nice. Definitely not judgy. Maybe Lonnie had gotten lucky. The girl sat next to her, putting up her hair as she introduced herself with a smile. Lonnie couldn't help but jump when she first spoke. She was loud, but at least she sounded pretty friendly. Plus, who was Lonnie to judge? She was pretty loud herself.
"Um... Lonnie," Lonnie blurted. She hadn't talked to anybody all day, she felt like she had forgotten how to communicate. Or maybe it was that she just wasn't good at it to begin with. "Sorry, I mean I'm Lonnie. That's my name. Oh, my name's also short. For something. I mean my name's short for something too, it's short for Alana. But nobody calls me that, you can call me Lonnie. I'm gonna call you Val, if you don't mind. That way we can both be short. We can use our short names," Lonnie blurted, beginning to set up the project.
"Are you good at potions? I would say I kinda am, I've been trying to pay attention but I kinda zone out sometimes, you know? I don't like listening and I don't really like textbooks either," Lonnie jabbered as she organized the table. "But don't worry, I won't blow up anything," she laughed awkwardly, shooting the girl a smile before clearing her throat and turning her attention back to the supplies. "I like the hands-on stuff. I'm pretty excited to do this with you too."─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────@Valentina Moore
