The girl was not wholly unfamiliar to her. She was a prefect, after all, as well as a member of the Hufflepuff quidditch team and one of the writers of the Headliner. As a continued purveyor of the former and a member of the latter, Evelynn had enough wherewithal to have at least a basic set of knowledge of the girl, but why she would seek out the lioness personally over a number of other equally or better qualified individuals for questions about prefectdom continued to evade her. Which, naturally, only made the meeting all that more intriguing. While it would likely be considered taboo, a glimmer of hope existed that perhaps there was something a bit more nefarious going on, especially with the request to meet on the grounds rather than a more dense alternative like the Great Hall. It would be hard to be overheard out here, and the nippy autumn wind made it even less likely that anyone would be nearby to have the opportunity. To pass the time until the arrival of her younger guest, Evelynn occupied herself with making the space at least somewhat hospitable against the Highland elements. A plush blanket separated her from the grassy hill overlooking the lake; a number of mince pies and little fancy cakes; and lemon tarts had been arranged on a tiered platter at its center. A few bowls surrounding it contained a variety of nuts and berries and other nutritious snacks. To round out the food selections, she had also arranged a plate of light sandwiches. Two tea cups had been set out on matching saucers, one white and blue traditional china with floral motifs; the other, a subtle jade-green glazed celadon with a minimalistic design. A bewitched teapot steamed quietly off to one side, awaiting its moment to serve. For comfort, a number of pillows had been scattered, and a large jar containing an animated bluebell flame provided warmth. By the time Miss Willows arrived, she would want—hopefully—for nothing. Reclined with ankles together off to one side, her posture poised but relaxed, Evelynn met her with a serene smile. "I trust the rest of your week was well?" she wondered, opening the dialogue with polite conversation and gesturing to the girl to take a seat. "I was uncertain to your food preferences. No allergies, I hope?" |

ooc notes-Late. Late. Late.
Sage stumbled over herself to get out the door on time, only to be delayed by her cat pawing at her arm and demanding attention. She had arranged a meeting with sixth year Evelynn Decipio via owl, and was undoubtedly making a horrible impression already thanks to her tardiness.
She was just getting ready to step out the door when she remembered she had wanted to make a list of questions for Evelynn. She wrote, in what was surely her worst handwriting, a short list of questions. She tucked it into her jacket pocket and hurried down the stairs as fast as she could to join her acquaintance in the grounds.
She spotted her, sitting on top of a blanket, down in the grounds surrounded by delicious looking foods. Sage dropped herself down on the blanket, out of breath from running around for most of the time before she joined Evelynn.
"Sorry- Sorry I'm late. My cat was not having it this morning." She wiped a bead of sweat off her forehead. "Yeah, it was all good! Pretty boring, but alas. No food allergies here," she said, helping herself to one of the little sandwiches. "My sister though, she's got a small gluten intolerance." Okay, so her nerves were already setting in. She was always like this around new people, always testing the waters.
She reached into her jacket pocket to retrieve the list she had written. "So, um, I made a list with my questions. I can just read it, or we could have some small talk first?"

| xxx | 𝓔ventually, Evelynn was joined by a sprightly brunette who plopped rather unceremoniously down upon the blanket. The senior fixed her with a veiled smile that was as amused as it was politely holding back any comment on her tardiness. "Quite alright," she inclined her head magnanimously, then gesture towards the treats to offer an unspoken invitation for the girl to help herself. A nod was offered with regard to information about the sister's gluten intolerance. "'Tis a good thing, then, that I am hosting you and not your sister." The tea wouldn't even wait for either of them to reach for it, hopping up of its own accord. The decorative metallic filigree had pried itself from around the bulbous pot, magically arcing down like spider legs to prop the vessel up off the ground. Steam billowed from its spout as it skuttled gracefully forward and tipped itself to pour hot tea into each of the cups. Evelynn waited for Miss Willows to select her cup before taking the remaining one for herself, adding a dollop of sugar, then pulling the cup to hover in front of her chest. With regard to the list of questions, Evelynn shrugged a brow, slate gray eyes dipping briefly to the parchment before lifting again to meet the girl's gaze. "I do not mind either way." In truth, she rather respected anyone who jumped right to business. Small talk could be rather a dull affair. Lips touched the rim of the tea cup, taking a small sip before withdrawing once more. "If I am not mistaken, this is your second year now at Hogwarts, no? How have you found the transition and your time here?" She inquired about the transition not because of any assumption that the girl had come from a muggle background, but because it didn't matter. Muggle or wizardborn, Hogwarts had a tendency to blur the lines in a way that seemed to throw everyone a little off balance initially. Sometimes more than a little. A deeper understanding sparked in the depths of Evelynn's eyes, her gaze never leaving the other's face. "Have there been any notable occurrences that have shaped your expectations?" |

ooc notes-Sage followed what she took to be an open invitation to grab some food by doing exactly that, grabbing herself one of the delicate lemon tarts. She took a bite, nodding to herself as she devoured it. "This," she exclaimed, brushing some crumbs off her fingers, "is very good. I'll have to get your recipe."
She selected one of the tea cups, another lovely porcelain thing with floral details. Her eyes would follow the bewitched teapot, reminded of how lovely a good magical tea party could be. Despite both the girl's older ages, Sage decided it felt nice to take a relaxing moment to sip some tea and chat.
So distracted by the taste of tea on her tongue, she almost missed Evelynn's comment about Sage's place in the second year. How rude! She pulled the cup from her lips, nodding as she swallowed. "Yes, that's right. It's... a bit interesting to settle back in here after the summer. My step-mum doesn't use a ton of magic around the house, and my sister won't be at Hogwarts for a few years, so it's just trying to get settled every year that's only slightly difficult because I'm not surrounded by it always at home." She stopped her muttering about herself to ask her acquaintance a similar question, "Seeing as your a sixth year, have you found it any easier to settle in over the years?"
She would move to answer Evelynn's other question after listening intently to the older girl's answer to her own question. "I think for me..." She paused, thinking about everything she'd done so far at Hogwarts. "I think when I became prefect to be honest. I mean, it didn't happen all that long ago, but before I would have never thought I'd be fit for such a role. I just really feel like it will be good for me, you know? To be part of a community bigger than myself and get to help others?"
