On August 1st at 8 am, in Kazan, Russia, Allyssa Adele Schmidt and her twin sister Emilia Gisela Schmidt were born to magical parents Gregory and Samantha. A few minutes after she was born, her father wrote a letter to his parents and told them the wonderful news. After her mother was well enough, she wrote to her parents and said that they were welcome to visit. They returned home to Ufa, Russia from their failed vacation a few days later.
As soon as they were old enough to travel, their parents decided that it was time to accept an uncle's yearly invitation to visit him in England. From then on, the family sailed to England every summer for a month. It was quite enjoyable because the uncle lived on a small, quiet farm that only kept pigs, cows, and horses.
On one occasion when she was visiting England, a neighboring kid walked over and asked if they could play. After receiving permission, Emilia went outside, leaving her sister to look through some picture books. At first, all was quiet until they started discussing their favorite vegetables. The argument escalated and broke into a fight. A few minutes later, Allyssa came running out of the house and quickly put an end to the fight which, by then, had included name-calling.
Her protective parents had a tall wall all over the yard so that the girls couldn’t be harmed. They were wealthy, so they were able to provide many of the things Allyssa and Emilia asked for. However, they made sure that the girls were never spoiled.
By the time the girls were 6, Allyssa had noticed that wherever she went, nothing exciting happened whereas her sister got to see exciting things happen. Seeing that her sister was sad at not seeing exciting things, Emilia asked one of her friends if they could try to write down something exciting happening. When the friend showed the notebook to Allyssa however, she realized that she didn't like exciting things all too much, even if the event was written on paper.
That very same year, before the girls’ 7th birthday, she had her first accidental magic. It happened while she and her sister Emilia were playing Fashion. As she sat in thought, looking at the wall, she gasped in astonishment as flowers appeared in a glass jar.
Delighted at this, she slowly stood up, terrified that the flowers would disappear if she left the room to go tell her parents. At once, her sister peeped in to check on her and gasped with surprise as she saw the flowers. Wondering what the girls were doing, the parents followed Emilia in and were shocked to see the flowers.
"After that day, their parents let their wizard principal know what had happened so that they could make sure that the girls didn't lie about things by saying that it was magic. After that, Allyssa and Emilia realized what their parents had said and so, it was more often than not that they would be found telling the truth about something that had happened."
Everything continued as it had before the incident until the day that Allyssa and Emilia turned 11 years old. Following that day, their parents started to grow uneasy about keeping the girls home with no proper magical teaching. After some discussion that always happened after the girls were asleep, it was decided that they would travel to Koldovstoretz as their parents had gone there for schooling.
