Lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling this morning, a random memory popped into her head almost as if it had been waiting to be remembered.

It was the day her family had been lost in admiration for her cousin’s latest painting, how they showered him with compliments. Of course, her dad had to throw in a joke about Ira’s unique painting skills.

It was not funny, not even a little bit, but Ira gave a half-hearted laugh anyway, mostly to avoid hearing another round of her dad's joke that were never as funny as he thought they were. Honestly, one could only laugh at just how bad it was.

On that day, she made up her mind. she vowed to become the best artist she could be, no matter what it took. That was the plan, anyway, when she spent the rest of the day shopping for all the painting supplies she could find.

The very next day, her plan vanished into thin air when her family dragged her to a ball. After that, she became the queen of excuses, until the plan quietly slipped her mind. Now that the memory came rushing back, she was determined to hold onto it with all her might.

Ira quickly jumped off her bed, slipped into a crisp blouse and fitted jeans and tied her black waves into a sleek, tight bun. Gathering a handful of paints, a brush, and a note she had brought with her, she hurried out of the room.

Art doesn’t simply happen, that Ira knew. It demands inspiration. It requires a spark. With her cup of milk in hand, she was pondering where inspiration might strike.

That’s when it came to her. The school grounds! There’s no better inspiration than being surrounded by the beauty of nature, alive and vibrant and that's just waiting for her right outside.

That’s how she ended up on the ground, her back pressed against a sturdy tree. With paints strewn around her and her knees bent, she propped her drawing notebook against her thighs.

For a while, she focused on painting the flowers and leaves around her. But let’s be honest, they just weren’t her thing. It wasn’t her fault, of course! Then she turned to a bird that was kind enough to say put for a bit. but even that didn’t work out.

Grumbling, Ira crushed the paper and tossed it into the pile as the bird flew away. Ira absentmindedly scratched her hair with the back of her paintbrush, wishing for something, anything, to catch her eye for the painting.

And there it was! Her eyes were suddenly drawn to a brown haired boy sitting by a tree, like a magnet. There were tons of people around, but something about his calm demeanor just clicked for Ira. She couldn’t resist, without a second thought, she decided he is the perfect model for her painting. Lucky him!

The boy was sitting a little behind her, so her side was facing his front. Each time she tried to sneak a glance, she had to crane her neck. And if he so much as looked her way, Ira would quickly look the other direction.

Peter yawned as he trudged to the Great Hall. He was hungry. Grabbing a spring roll and a biscuit, he chugged a goblet of pumpkin juice. Eating the pastries on the way, he had a book, an interesting way of holding it. Instead of in his hand, since he had two pastries in his hand, he would put the book underneath his elbow and pressed up against his side.

He probably looked weird. At a glance, you could see his messy mop of brown hair, and his bright green eyes, each hand containing a roll or biscuit and a book held at a weird angle. This year he had bought to Hogwarts, A assortment of different novels with all sorts of different genres and main themes. He brought some “spell” books with some genuine muggle novels. He brought “The Land Of Stories”, “Little House On The Prairie”, “The Chronicles Of Narnia”, “It Starts With Us”, and “Newt’s Emerald”. The others were spell books borrowed from Brookline.

Peter walked along the path towards the Grounds, he brought “Little House On The Prairie” with him, and when he finally finished his breakfast, would he finally sit down and read. He sat down in a crook of a tree’s bark-covered trunk, and pulled his book up to his nose and started to read. It was busy here, but would Peter ever notice? No, put rather simply. He would not, rather he liked the quiet and peace, but he did not notice the noise. Nor did he notice a girl, her back against a tree, sketching him. But when he did notice when he would glance green eyes up, it seemed weird that the girl would look the other direction, quickly and sharply. Almost like those funny muggle movies he and his muggle mother liked to watch. It was his mother where he merely loved to read and watch muggle-made movies and books.

Oh well, Peter thought as he drew his eyes back to his book.

Every so often, she risked a glance over her shoulder, only to quickly avert her eyes when he shifted as though he might look her way. Painting was one thing, but making sure her unwitting model didn’t notice was a whole other art form. In fact, Ira spent more time avoiding his gaze than she did on her... masterpiece.

Ira wasn’t shy, and she wasn't afraid to approach the guy— oh, she could have approached him under different circumstances. But no— this was about her reputation, about erasing the years of teasing and jokes from her family. Years of being the punchline for her family’s jokes had led her here, on these very grounds, on a mission.

Her mission? To turn impossible into possible, right here on these grounds. Her progress? Still pending— since he was her very first experiment, which is exactly why she was keeping it all under wraps. Her determination was ironclad, but her fingers refused to comply. The resulting piece looked more like a jumbled mess of colours than anything intentional.

Ira gave it a few more tries— after all, a little hiccup wouldn’t stop her. But alas, each attempt seemed to compete with the last for the title of ‘Most Disappointing’— no matter how hard she tried. Ira rubbed her forehead in despair, ending up with streaks of paint trailing across her skin.

Maybe painting just wasn’t her thing. Perhaps sketching! That’s where her true talent must lie! Ira packed away her paints and brushes, pulled out a pencil, and quickly learned that her sketching skills were on the same level of disaster.

But honestly, It wasn’t exactly a revelation. Ira had always known her art skills were, well, 'a work in progress, which is precisely why she was here. Maybe it was the angle—she could sneak up a little closer and sketch without him catching on.

Ira stood up, clutching her drawings and paintings. he walked toward the boy, her gaze deliberately fixed anywhere but on him. She sat under a nearby tree, this time facing him somewhat directly, and laid her papers down. In her rush, she forgot to weigh them down. Of course, as if on cue, the wind swooped in, sending her works right into the boy’s direction.

"Oh no! No, no, no!" Ira screeched as she leaped up to chase the windblown papers, but it was too late. While her attempts didn’t exactly capture her vision, the mix of colours and her ‘interpretation’ of his features made it painfully obvious— it couldn’t be anyone else.

Peter stopped at page twenty-three in “The Little House In The Big Woods”, his finger lingering on the number. There was something wrong, as if someone had done something sneaky behind his back, but he couldn’t quite place his finger in it. He continued reading, his assumption would have to happen later, he had to see what Laura and her family would do in their little wooden house.

Tingles and shivers went up unexpectedly Peter’s spine. The girl who avoided his emerald gaze had gotten closer to him. He narrowed his brow, why would she avoid his gaze? He wasn’t mean PR anything, as least he didn’t think so. He never knew how people would react. He had thought for sure Aurélie (@Ophelia Northwell) would never consider him as a friend when he told the French-girl he was Welsh. But Aurélie accepted him, and counted him as a friend. Peter smiled warmly as he contined on with his book; he seemed to always smile when he thought of the kind French girl.

The nippy wind blew right into Peter’s pale face, biting at his cool cheeks. A high-pitched screech rang through the Hogwarts’ grounds as he saw the same girl leap and pounce up and out of her sitting position to snatch at the papers that the wind played with. They flew in his direction, and one slapped his face. He struggled to tear it off, and when he did, Peter gasped. It was his features on the paper. His green eyes flashed as he glanced at the girl.

The girl was drawing him. Him! Peter would of never guessed he’d be the one where his face would painted and sketched upon parchment. Peter’d seen many family portraits at Brookline’s house but he would never guess him as a model. The picture looked pretty good, and Peter glanced right back up at the girl who created their pictures on those winds loans papers; she had dark hair and dark eyes, a first year, he thought. Peter gave the girl a curt nod, to show that he knew she was there, and there watching her. Peter stood up, book in hand, and approached

Trying to keep his Welsh accent controlled, and unnoticed, Peter smiled at the girl, lightly and timely, he started, “Hello! Nice day, besides the wind if you know I mean. I assume this is yours?” The Beauxbatons boy held out the piece of parchment that had his face on it. He continued his genuine smile, and tried not to be rude as he asked his next question, “Just one little question; why paint and sketch me? You an artist? Looks pretty good.”

Ira was tempted to bang her head on the rough tree trunk within reach. How has she been so careless?! Ira froze and her guilt-filled wide eyes were glued to the boy. One of the papers whipped through the air and smacked against his face but Ira was too stunned to find that amusing while normally she would stifle a snort. This time, her face twisted into a grimace instead. She must have been doomed to get caught!

That guy actually gasped! How furious would he be? She braced herself for rude words or at least a glare when suddenly his eyes met hers, Ira forced a façade of indifference quickly. To her surprise, he shot her a curt nod instead. Seconds later, he made his way towards her with a book while Ira couldn’t help but fidget as he drew closer. When he stopped before her, Ira blinked vacantly at his unexpected smile and peaceful bearing. murmuring a hesitant "hello," she nodded. Extending her hand, she reached out to retrieve the parchment away from him.

Ira turned over at his question as her mind wavered between choosing to spill the truth or just lie. Maybe the guy was trying to trap her into admitting it with a feigned calmness. After all, lying comes to her easily... right? Whatever! It seemed safe at the moment. "Oh, thanks but, um, no," she shook her head and shrugged. "The thing is, this isn't you. It's...", worrying her bottom lip, she paused. "It's just someone I know." Ira pointing her finger at the sketch on the page, "I can see why you'd think that, given the similarity. But it's actually my friend," she directed a faint smile towards him.
