Round 8

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

Prat was now getting concerned over the pitiful nature of this duel, something that started as a fun contest was slowly becoming a clown show. A teammate knocked out, another in his own world yet Emily remained the only one trying her best in this game from the Badger's side. For all it was worth, her effort was seemingly visible to all those in attendance, even her opponents who now had their earlier expression of competition now turning into expressions of pity. They too looked like wished for the duel to end as soon as they could.

Emily on the other hand had now abandoned all hope in her teammate, willing to take the reins and lead the puff side herself as she snatched off her blindfold previously and proceeded to Hit Theo with a tickling spell. Even amidst the three on one she managed to land a hit while evading a flipendo from theo himself and an obscuro from Sio. Only to be caught flying again in Sere's Flipendo as she was thrown back. Prat was more disappointed in the Male duelist from the puffs, if his sole purpose was to witness the duels, the seats in the audience offered a good enough view. This was unnecessary to begin with, and to then lose your nerves in a very important game was the icing on the cake.

Sere had never lasted this long in an official duel. This was the first time she had lasted until the eighth round and still going. In previous matches, the eighth round was the end of the match, but the rule change to ten rounds meant that everything could still change. It seemed like the badger didn't waste the opportunity and threw her Rictusempra at Theo. Ugh, that tickling sensation. Sere could still remember it clearly. It feels more embarrassing than ticklish.

When her turn arrived, Sere managed to throw another Flipendo at the Badger. Okay, the last two rounds. Sere prepared for her next action.

Theo was starting to get really frustrated now. Every time he missed, it only made him feel worse, like he wasn’t good enough. His anger was bubbling up, and it was starting to mess with his aim. When another spell missed its mark, his grip on his wand tightened, and he quickly raised it again, ready to try once more. There was no way he was losing this duel, not if he could help it.

Emily knew from the get-go she wasn't going to win. First matches were always the learning curve; grappling with the ropes, getting a feel of the adrenaline, trying to keep up her momentum with her more experienced peers.

Nico could go right ahead and sleep on the arena if he wanted, but Emily had the decency to finish what she started. She had a strong feeling she wasn't going to last another round. Her body was shutting down from the repeated assaults (no) thanks to the opposing team.

With a near defeated smile, she raised her wand for what she feared would be for the last time. She still had fight left in her, but she wouldn't make promises.

"One more... So long as we're upright, we'll give it one more go." She grinned.

Round 9

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

The hope of this duel finishing ahead of time was smashed to hell and beyond now, as if someone up there simply chose to leave Emily stranded in this hostile environment. Surrounded by 3 Gryffin duellists of equal might as they attempt to finish this bout in the favour for their own house. However things as they appear on paper might not translate well to real life as the odds and chances keep changing. It was quite an astonishing sight as Emily somehow managed to dodge a flipendo aimed directly at her. Bruised and battered but she wasn't done yet.

The gryffindors on the other hand stood their ground well so far, but even they had their limits as Sere Nade from their side casted a beautiful looking flipendo. Only to have the wear and tear catch up with her in due time as her aim missed so severly it directed itself to Theo, her own teammate. Fortunately for both of them Theo managed to dodge the spell. For the least interesting of the two duellists on the piste, Sio and Nico both seemed mesmerized in their own thoughts as they stood still amidst their ongoing trials. This was not their first time doing this and Prat was not very happy with either of the duellists.

Emily was counting her lucky stars. Had their third fighter not have spaced out at the last second, Emily would surely have been a goner. While none of them were out yet, Emily was still brimming with the rush of still being in the game.

She was battered and bruised, but so long as she was still in this, the pain meant nothing to her.

She had to make every shot count now. That last round was a fluke. This time, things would be serious.

Ah, why did this things have to happen in the final round?! Sere clenched her teeth, suppressing her annoyance when the Knockback Jinx went to Theo instead of the Badger as how she had expected. "Sorry!" Added to that was an Incendio that made her burn in the magical fire. Sere's breathing became heavy now and beads of sweat fell down her temples. After all, this was the longest time she had lasted in an official duel. Sere had reached her limit.

The final round was upon her and her one last action could change everything. Sere shot a glare at the Hufflepuffs, fixing on her final move.

Oh well now tbis was just the icing on the cake wasn’t it. Three missed spells and now she had completely spaced out again??? Was she trying to make her team lose?

Alright… ok ok… calm down she murmured to herself. She needed to focus and not freak out. She was going to get through this and give as much as she could for these final rounds. She didn’t want to be the reason that her team lost.

Poor Sere and Theo- They had been on the receiving end of their opponents spells while Siobhan had been blissfully unaware of everything. She feared they would be cross with her if she didn’t prove herself in this next round.

Theo was finding it difficult to maintain his composure, his frustration brewing not because of the opposing team, but rather his own. Not only was one of his teammates not focussed, but the other had missed a jinx so badly he was forced to duck out of the way. "Who's side are you on?!" He shouted, shaking his head at Sere as she gave her apology. "Everyone, together, let's end this." He he said waving his wand in the direction of Hufflepuff.
