The dorm had been empty when Reyna had entered that evening. Exhausted and tired from the long day she had plopped on the bed just to find a quill. Strangely, she didn't remember putting a quill on her bed but Reyna was known for leaving things around.
And there was a possibility that it could be one of her other dormies quills. Although she didn't know why if it was theirs that it would be there sitting on her bed.
No one was in the dorm at the time which was strange since it was rarely so quiet. With five dormies in total including herself it was a total handful of people in the dorm. The Plant Palace dorm was huge though.
Moving on, Reyna remembered clearly groaning and putting the mysterious quill on her desk. She had tried the quill once by writing hi and it had worked. Afterwards, she had gone to sleep. She didn't know how long she was asleep for. Maybe a few hours or so.
When she had woke up she had been surprised to find no hi there. Instead she had found a new message.
Hello? Who/what are you and what are you doing to my quill?
"What the heck?" I yelled. Was I talking to someone? I shook the bottle of ink and stared at the quill. Little did I know that this was the beginning of a huge mystery that I had just gotten myself involved in.

Notes for mystery person

Kaya was walking to her room in Thunderbird common room. That was a long day with lessons and practice and she also spent some time playing guitar. Now, she came inside and looked at her notebook and quill that was laying close to it.

However, there was something she surely didn't leave in a notebook. Hi. What was it and how it appeared there? She was generally familiar with her dormmates handwritings and this certainly didn't belong to any of them. So she took her quill and wrote a sentence, hoping to get some answers. Hello? Who/ What are you and what are you doing to my quill? Apparently, she couldn't trust this quill to write anything personal anymore as it was some kind of communication tool with someone.

Kaya realized how tired she must have been when she didn't feel that happy at first. However, this just meant some kind of adventure that she later could discuss with Amber and also potentially, she could get a new friend.

Kaya thought about quill mystery for a moment and decided to add one more question. Where are you? As a thought of whether that person was from same school or not came across her mind. She'd surely need to introduce herself later, but this could be done after she'd take some rest.

Reyna stared at the quill, thinking about this mini adventure that was going on. Was it enchanted? She wasn't sure. Should she take it to the office? No. That ruined all the fun.
Instead, Reyna went with the less practical response. I have absolutely no idea! And I am a person. My name is well, um Rey for now... Who/What are you?
I waited for a little bit. The ink disappeared. Then I saw a new message appear. Where are you?
Where am I? Well, did that mean that the person was not from here. That opened up so many possibilities. This person could be from anywhere. Across the sea, in Asia, Africa. Wow, that was crazy. I had no want to turn in this enchanted quill anymore. I didn't want to endanger whoever this person/thing was and I wanted some fun too.
I just had to be sneaky. So I quickly wrote back. I am in Europe. I go to Hogwarts. How about you, where are you from?
I had to tell my bestie Linda about this though. I knew she would keep the secret and it would be cool to talk about. I quickly stuffed the quill and paper in my bag and hurried out of the dorm. I probably wouldn't get a reply too quickly anyway.

Kaya looked as ink disappeared and she saw a reply to her question. So, the quill must be enchanted. Kaya smiled happily. I'm a person too) My name is Rose. She gave her second name instead of first for now, but she didn't see any problem with it.

Kaya smiled excitedly when she saw that Rey was going to Hogwarts. New Hogwarts friend? Was it going to be that simple? It was rather exciting. I'm from North America. Ilvermorny. That was also not certain answer about her location, but they didn't have to trust each other from the beginning. Especially with such way of communication. But Kaya had to admit it looked quite promising, as well as fun.

So we are talking with such distance from each other? Sounds fascinating! Do you mind telling me something about you?

Kaya smiled and stood up, taking this intriguing quill and her notebook. She had to find Amber. That would be a secret for them to keep, but Kaya knew her bestie won't tell anyone about it. So far she had only one Hogwarts friend and this potentially would be her second. She still couldn't believe it happened and was rather intrigued by how the quill appeared and how it worked. There must be some spell letting it happen, perhaps her family would know something about it.

Reyna had told the mystery to her bestie Linda. She was so excited. After eating a quick snack and catching up with her bestie, she arrived back at her room.
She then found a new message on her paper. She had to go to classes however so she quickly saw that it said I'm a person too. My name is Rose.
Cute. She liked the name a lot. And phew she was a person not some weird thing. For a moment Reyna had been scared. Then she saw that Rose was from North America, Ilvermorny. YAY! Another witch! And from North America? That was so cool. Reyna would love to go there. She did like to travel but she would dearly miss her home if she did.
Communicating like this seemed so fun. I mean maybe it wasn't the most reliable?
Another message was there at the bottom of my paper. Do you mind telling something about you?
Reyna smiled. Hmmm. What should she tell her? Maybe something about Linda? No maybe about Hogwarts first then Linda. She wrote, It is so cool we can talk to each other from such a great distance! This was so cool. Reyna grabbed the paper and quill and threw it in her bag along with her books. She raced to her next class. She did not want to be late. But this mystery was going to be so much fun and she could not wait to see where it would take her.

Kaya came back from walking and sat to see notes from another person. I'm in Thunderbird house in Ilvermorny. That's for adventurous. I like my school so much and its history is really something I find so fascinating. I have bestie in the same house.

Kaya thought for a second if she should write part of Amber's name, but decided to not do it. She felt curious how was it to be with bestie in different houses and couldn't. Different houses? How it feels? I can't imagine me and my bedtie to be in different houses to be honest.

As she felt curious to know more about the person she was talking to, Kaya continued writing. Do you have pets? Did this person even like animals? Kaya didn't know.

As she looked around her room, she decided to go to find Amber. It was becoming more and more interesting. Do you think we could meet during some event when we are arriving to Hogwarts? Finishing writing, Kaya put away quill and her notebook.

It was certainly time for searching Amber and possibly getting herself something to eat. Ilvermorny was a great school and Kaya absolutely loved it. However, she believed that Hogwarts was not bad either.

Reyna was in class. And maybe, possibly she was bored. History of Magic wasn't her favorite subject, at all. So instead, she took out her enchanted quill and decided that she would write back to Rose. Mysteries were for solving after all right?

Reyna stuffed her quill in her backpack as a new assignment came up. Any new responses would have to wait. And she had to focus on her studies and current friends too. Classes ended soon enough so once she was back in her dorm she took out her enchanted quill and paper.
There were more messages that she had not seen before. Smiling, she responded. I do have two pets! I have a cat named Genie, she's with my right now. I wish I could send a picture but shes so cute! And I have a dog called Aurum! How about you? Ooh, it would be fun to meet up. Maybe during some ball one day?
Yawning she sighed. It was already night and soon she would have to go to bed. So she put her stuff away and went for dinner instead. She would see her responses later. But this day was great, she couldn't believe what she had gotten herself involved in.

Kaya felt bored and admittedly, she started to wait for Rey's reply. So she checked the notebook and saw new notes from her mystery quillpal.

It's been really awesome! We get to spend most of the time together, though mind you, we still sometimes spend time with other friends, though searching for each other afterwards. I guess it's a nice feeling, especially when you are absolutely new in school and it's your first days there. We're best friends from the time before Ilvermorny, that's why it's even more special for me.

She glanced at what she wrote and suddenly wondered why she wrote so much? But it was alright. Maybe one day Kaya would meet Rey in Hogwarts, then supposedly they would still learn more about each other.

I don't have pets with me at school, but I do have a cat and a dog, as well as owl back at home. Maybe one day I'll have some pet with me as well. How does it feel to be with your pet at school?

Kaya sighed. She missed her pets a lot, but she couldn't have them with her. As she looked at time, she decided it was time to go to sleep. This day was full of different things, some more interesting and some sort of boring. It was time to relax and have a good sleep before tomorrow.

After dinner she rushed to her dorm quick to check the replies from Rose. She was excited to see what she would write but at the same time she was very tired, as it had been a long day. She grabbed the parchment and quill and found a new reply.
