The day started as if it were any other. The smell of pan fried bacon and laverbread filled the air, and the cheery, familiar sound of the girls parents echoed slightly through her walls. As Adeline opened her curtains, letting in the morning sun, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Little did she know, the moment she had wished on every star for, was about to become a reality.
Addie opened her second story window, ushering in the familiar aroma of sea air and wet stone into her tiny blue bedroom. She looked down to the street below her, watching her neighbors pass and go about their days. If only they knew the truth of the Spinks family, their magical jewelry store, their "cat" (a kneazle named Renfro), or the letter that Addie was about to receive.
As Addie's eyes raised to admire the bay, something foreign caught her eye. soaring down the narrow street was a large, grey owl. Adeline was shocked! "Is that...could it really be?" Adeline's breath quickened.
Was it the letter?
The owls eyes locked with Addie's, as if it had found it's target. As intimidating as it was, the girl couldn't help but reach out her hand for the creature to land upon as it neared her window. The bird landed softly, it's eyes never averting from Adeline. It bowed it's head to the girl, an offering in it's beak. Adeline grabbed the envelope, and gently ran her fingers over the red wax seal as the owl lifted off, as quickly as it had arrived. It was really happening. She opened the seal and began to read;

Welcome to Hogwarts!
Welcome Dear Student;

First, let me introduce myself: my name is Solomon Lear, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...

Before she could read a word more, her parents excitedly barged into her room, expectant and shocked looks lit up their faces. They had seen the owl, and had known for a while that it was time. Adeline smiled, holding up the letter, earning an eruption of exciting congratulations from her parents.
"We could not be prouder of you, Ad." her father smiled, embracing the girl in a deep hug. Her mother then spoke softly, "Someone is due a trip to Diagon Alley.."
It was the best day in many days, maybe the best of all.
Most definitely not at all like any other.
