Karina wandered to the restroom on the train. She was passing different cabins, passing some with students sleeping, arguing, talking, and even eating. She was holding her long robes, from getting tangled on the corners of the cabins.

Karina suddenly felt as though her feet lifted off the ground. She wiped her sweaty forehead, all of these robes were too heavy and she was getting hot in them. Unluckily, when Karina had jumped up, her robes got hooked onto a cabin seat. She groaned.

Karina took a peek inside. A girl with brown hair and blue eyes was sitting on a seat. Karina tried to get her robes unhooked from the seat, but the more she pulled, the more it got tied up!

She struggled to stand up, before hearing a rip coming from her robes, so she quickly sat back down. This day was a disaster. Just earlier that day, she had trouble finding the platform, and now her robes were beginning to tear. Karina was a mess.

"Uhmm..." Karina spoke, clearing her throat. "Hello there. I-I am sorry to distract you from what you were doing, but erm, can you help me? I seem to be stuck here"

The train ride was going quite smoothly until an unmissable bump in the road caused the whole car to jump, waking every student who even had the thought of falling asleep.

What a pain, Lisa thought to herself. As much as she tried to emit the "cool-girl, nonchalant" attitude, she couldn't help but feel excited for what was to come. The nerves of the sorting ceremony continued to crawl at her but she knew it was best to not ponder on the matter until the moment arrived. Even when trying to suppress the nervousness, however, it still crept into her skin and made her feel sick to her stomach.

It was nice being away from home. The train was much quieter than Lisa's house was with all the bustling around of her two younger brothers. The homesickness would hit soon, but for now, it was freedom at last. No more nagging parents telling her what she could and couldn't do. It was all up to her from here.

Whilst daydreaming about her future ahead. Lisa noticed a young witch get her robes caught on the cabin across from where she was sitting. She snickered a little bit as the witch tried to pull at the robes causing them to rip before she slid into the cabin to ask for help. Lisa knew she shouldn't make fun of the girl but it was still the most amusing thing to happen on the train ride so far. Lisa was in a cabin with what appeared to be two other young students who appeared to awake for a split second from the train jolt and by now had completely fallen back into a deep slumber.

Looking around at the sleeping students made Lisa realize how bored she was. If she wasn't still so nervous she could fall asleep like them and skip over the whole train ride. That wouldn't do, however, and suddenly Lisa realized she needed to get up and converse with people before she got to the school and everyone thought she was a loner.

Quickly she stood up and barged into the cabin next to her where the witch from earlier had ripped her robes open. Another young witch was sitting, trying to help the first fix her robe catastrophe. She stared at the two of them intently before sternly saying "I'm Lisa." She paused for an awkward moment and then also blurted out "I watched you rip your robes, honestly, I'm quite impressed by the way you were able to get them so tangled into the seats like that." She didn't even know why she said that; a combination of nerves and stress, maybe? Either way, the girls seemed nice enough. Not that Lisa was too worried about making friends, but having someone to talk to on the rest of this boring train ride would be amusing.

Karina, feeling thankful that the girl in the cabin noticed her, and decided to help her, finally said to Karina;

"Don't worry... I get myself into messes like these all the time. Once we get to Hogwarts, I'm sure someone will be able to help with the rips.."

Karina smiled at the girl. Then Karina decided that this might be her first friend made on her trip to Hogwarts, so she decided to introduce herself.

"I-"

Karina was suddenly stopped, as the girl had spoken again...

"I'm Addie, and you are?"

"Hi Addie, I'm Karina. And this is Bofi"

Suddenly a black-and-white rabbit hopped over from Karina's cabin.

"He must've gotten out, as I forgot to lock his cage."

Karina waited patiently for the girl to finish untangling the robes, then finally stood up. She looked down at the girl who was sitting, straightening her hair. Suddenly another girl walked through the narrow passageway of the Hogwarts Express.

"I'm Lisa. I watched you rip your robes, honestly, I'm quite impressed by the way you were able to get them so tangled into the seats like that."

Karina thought the girl was trying to bully her, as she looked as though she finished laughing at Karina for falling, but she wasn't too sure. Karina's looked became more firm, as she picked up her bunny.

"Hello Lisa. I'm sorry, did you think that me falling on the floor was a funny thing?


Karina hated making bad-first-impressions, she already made herself look like a fool as she had fallen onto the floor, just moments before. She knew she didn't want to make any foes at her stay at Hogwarts, so she quickly spoke again.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to accuse you, hehe" Her laugh was very weak, but she hoped it would lighten up the mood a little.

Karina hated that she had a terrible argument with Lisa, as she accused her for laughing at Karina. But now, Karina felt the tension between her and Lisa, slowly begin to disappear as Adeline spoke.

"Now that we have gotten all of THAT out of the way, would either of you like a wand?"

At first Karina thought that Addie meant taking out their wands and starting to do magic. But Karina didn't know any magic yet. Suddenly Addie took out a pack of licorice wands, and Karina realized that Addie meant eating a snack not their magical wands!

Karina nodded, smiling. Then she turned to Lisa,

"Lisa, I think we got off the wrong foot, I'm sorry. I'm Karina by the way."

Karina suddenly remembered that she had some sweets that her mom bought for her at a shop at a Diagon Alley shop. She decided that she was going to bring them, now was the perfect time!

"Addie, Lisa, I have some sweets in my trunk, too! I'll be back in a flash of light!"

Karina took Bofi off the floor, as he was nibbling on a piece of gum stuck on the empty seat by Addie. A thought came to Karina's mind as she walked to her cabin. Was Karina making friends? So soon? And they were all sitting in separate but empty cabins What is they all sat together, in one cabin? And what if they all got sorted into the same house? She thought again... Who is going to sort us to a house anyway?

At last she entered her cabin.

"Hello Lisa. I'm sorry, did you think that me falling on the floor was a funny thing?" the girl with ripped robes blurted out. Lisa was slightly caught off guard but nevertheless did think it was a little funny that the girl ripped her robes up before even the first day. The annoyed tone and stern look on her face told Lisa that she probably shouldn't admit that out loud though as starting off with enemies before the first day might just be worse than ripping your robes.

Lisa's gaze softened slightly from her snarky image at this realization and before she could even lighten the mood with some funny comment the girl spoke again, "Sorry, I didn't mean to accuse you, hehe." At least the mood was somewhat lightened but the tension was still there.

The other young girl in the cabin must have felt the daggers present as she pulled out some licorice wands and asked "Now that we have gotten all of THAT out of the way, would either of you like a wand?"

"I'm alright," Lisa replied. She wasn't much for a sweets gal and didn't necessarily want to admit acceptance of the other's warm greetings when hers appeared to be such a cold one. However, before she could even sit down the girl with the ripped robes addressed her.

"Lisa, I think we got off the wrong foot, I'm sorry. I'm Karina by the way," Karina stated. Lisa provided a quick nod and before even being able to ask the other girls name, Karina spoke again, "Addie, Lisa, I have some sweets in my trunk, too! I'll be back in a flash of light!" After this Karina took off with the small rabbit that was sitting on the floor in front of her. Lisa didn't bring a pet to school with her this year. Her mother thought it would be too much responsibility for a witch her age.

"So.. Addie right?" Lisa spoke to the first girl after Karina had left. "Listen, I wasn't trying to come off as rude about the whole robe thing. Just thought it was amusing is all." Lisa relaxed and finally sat down while addressing Addie. Besides, the people in her original cabin were still sleeping and talking to these girls would pass the time more quickly than staring out the window would.

Karina rushed back to the two girls. She had a lot of sweets in her hands. She gave both Lisa and Addie a bag of Bertie Bot's Every Flavored Beans and helped herself to some, too. Next, she took out a bag of Jelly Slugs. They were jelly-ish, but they were one of Karina's favorite treats. At first they sat in silence, then Karina plopped a bean in her mouth and exclaimed,

"AHH! Envelope glue! Ewww"

She whipped her mouth as the sticky sensation got stuck to her tongue. Karina couldn't help but to laugh after she got all of the bean out of her mouth. She felt the mood get brighter. After that bean, she didn't feel like eating anymore beans. Who knew what she will get next?

"Well, you guys, looks like we are almost there. It's getting dark outside. "

Karina placed another wand in her mouth, she couldn't help to smile as the feeling of the glue taste went away.

Karina always carried a little brown sack of friendship bracelets where ever she went. Who knows when she'll make friends? She took out 3 silver bracelets, with a charm that read: Besties for Life. Usually she handmade all of her bracelets, but her Aunt had boughten her these bracelets as a symbol of her first friends at Hogwarts. Then, Karina plopped another bean in her mouth.

"Oh well, sausage beans aren't too bad, I suppose."
