In a nervous effort to become more involved with the duelling community in Hogwarts Matthew Campbell the recently victorious Viridian Viper had decided to put up a sign up sheet for duelling moderation. Given the competitive nature of the roster one was never certain when they would get a chance to properly compete and so unofficial duels provided invaluable learning experience he would have dreamed of the previous year. It was his inspiration and his duty to his past self.
After merely a few days a younger Slytherin had approached him by the name of Evpraksiya Vinogradova eager to enter the fray and he was all too honoured to oblige. The duel was to be set on the first day of December when the festivities of Christmas were about to engulf the student population and anticipation and excitement lingered in the air. Matthew was nervous not simply as it was his first time moderating but because when Evpraksiya had informed him of her opponent he recognised her as the girl the Vipers had decimated with a 'Flipendo Trio' as the moderator had dubbed it.
As the young girls entered he caught eye contact with the elder student and waving in a friendly demeanour with wide smile he called them both over to the duelling piste he had booked for the afternoon. Welcoming them both in a jovial spirit in fitting with the season he said, "Hey guys, I hope you're as excited as I am for your duel when you're ready just make your way up and we can begin!" Feeling the electric exhilaration in the air he found himself unable to keep still and as the girls went to leave he caught Tracey's arm and kindly whispered, "I hope there's no hard feelings over the duel, you fought valiantly." There was a faint sign of worry in the boys hazel eyes but every duellist knew the drill and he hoped Tracey was above grudges.
Guiding the two as they entered each side of the piste he refreshed some basics quite sure that the young snake was fairly new to duelling having only attended a matter of months while gently smiling at Tracey hoping there was truly no bad blood between them. There was a chance the young slytherin would one day share in the glory of being a Viper so he was enthused in making sure she knew her way but would remain impartial in all matters. After all this duel was just a friendly competition in the spirit of learning and he wanted them to enjoy it to the fullest extent. Letting his wand flare with a bright "Lumos" he raised his wand and eager eyes flashing wildly said, "On the count of three I shall extinguish my wand and the duel shall begin, remember the most important rule is to have fun. One... two... three. Nox" With that the duel had commenced and he stepped back to let the chaos begin.I N F O R M A T I O NGood luck and most importantly have fun!
