After crossing the dark, murky waters of the Great Lake, the small army of first-years had gathered before two colossal oaken doors. Some whispered amongst themselves, sharing rumours of what awaited them next. Then, suddenly, the doors opened, and the new pupils were greeted by the sight of a man standing taller than the doors did. The man, who was clad head-to-toe in full plate armour, quickly became the topic of quiet conversation as a few hushed whispers in the crowd of pupils disseminated who this knight might be. Whilst the rest of his year-mates were too busy talking about the man's outfit, Brian noticed his tired-looking eyes and sickly look, inspiring an unsettling aura that made him look sick and frail, no matter how sturdy his armour may have been.![]()

"He mustn't 'ave got any sleep on the train." Brian somewhat innocently whispered to himself in his Liverpudlian accent.
And now, as he stood before the Great Hall, looking at the four long tables filled with students, poor Gaffey couldn’t help but feel even more out of place. The ceiling above him shimmered like a reflection of the night sky, and the warmth from the flickering candles made the grand hall feel alive. He could discern an extraordinary sense of the past pulsed through him - the feeling that generations of people had preceded him in entering these spacious halls. It made him feel so terribly small and puny, and as the first years were hounded before the professors' tables like fresh meat, he looked about at the other pupils, trying to get a feeling whether the others felt the way he did.
He closely listened to the old, armoured man that had met them at the door breeze through some major announcements. This world felt so bizarre to him, with its archaic rituals and outlandish culture. That sense of oddity only increased when the man in knight’s armour, whom Brian had discovered to actually be the school’s headmaster, presented the students with a literal talking hat. It looked rugged and weathered, and used an old tear for its mouth. It all felt like a fever dream to a very overwhelmed Brian, who couldn’t help but feel as though he’d been put in an asylum. But then, just as he was about to disassociate, he was called to attention by a loud, abrupt noise.
"Brian Gaffey!" Professor Lear called, his stern gaze scanning the first-year students as he motioned for Brian to approach the front.
Brian was among the first students to be called up, his surname starting with a ‘G’ and all. Whereas he hadn’t been particularly nervous before, the palpable anxiety of his yearmates had certainly had its effect on him, making him feel rather stressed. As he stepped forward, he sensed the eyes of every student on him, and for a moment, he felt even more insignificant than he had when he walked into the awe-inspiring great hall itself. But then the Sorting Hat was placed atop his head, and the world seemed to go quiet.
“Ah, a new soul,” the Sorting Hat murmured in his mind. “So much potential… but where to place you?”Brian stiffened. The voice was not what he had expected. It wasn’t like a person talking—it was more like a whisper inside his own thoughts.“You’re a bit nervous, aren’t you?” the Hat continued.
“You’ve never believed in magic, have you? And now you sit here, unsure of your place. But I can sense something else, something strong. You are braver than you realize.”Brian’s breath caught. Braver? He wasn’t sure about that. Sure, he had a tendency to stand up for himself when it mattered, but he hardly thought of himself as more courageous than just about any other person his age.
“You doubt yourself, don’t you?” the Sorting Hat mused. “When I look up there, it’s as though a thick fog is rolling in, obscuring everything in its path. All that doubt and concern is clouding your mind, isn't it?” Truthfully, Brian didn't quite know what to think. Getting his mind read by a talking hat had certainly not been on his bingo list, and he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. A short quiet set in, and just before the poor boy was about to get a panic attack, the hat continued.
“I see beyond that,” the hat whispered. “You may not have a wizard’s blood or great riches to your name, but you have a quiet strength. You choose to do right, even when it’s not easy. And that, my boy, is what makes you a true Gryffindor.”
The words lingered in his mind, and Brian suddenly felt something shift within him. Maybe bravery came in different shapes—like standing up for what was right, or simply stepping into the unknown when the world was uncertain, as the magical world very much had been for him up until now.
The Sorting Hat paused for a moment, as if considering this new perspective, before calling out to the hall in a voice that rang with certainty: “GRYFFINDOR!”
A burst of applause erupted from the Gryffindor table, and Brian’s heart leapt. It had all been so much to take in. He stepped off the stool, his legs a little shaky, and made his way to the Gryffindor table, elated at being part of something bigger, but unsure of what to think about everything that had been thrown at him in the last few hours.

Saunders had felt almost no excitement throughout the journey. Neither the prospect of leaving his family home for an extended period for the first time nor the thought of starting his student life at Hogwarts, a place he had heard so much about, could stir any particular enthusiasm in him. This boy was like a fish in the water: born right into the very heart of the wizarding world and therefore largely deprived of the pleasure of awe.
Yet, as he stepped into the Great Hall of the medieval castle, the sense of excitement crept back into his emotional repertoire. The Sorting Hat... Now, this was a real challenge, something that naturally stirred a flicker of anticipation in the boy. Which house, Saunders wondered, would this talkative and wise hat, with its mouth fashioned from worn-out fabric, sorted him into? His parents, actually, had not exerted any pressure on this matter. But his entire ancestry, almost without exception, had graduated from Slytherin. Would this fact be strong enough to influence Saunders’ fate as well? On one hand, he hoped it would, knowing that donning a green robe would please his family; and on the other, a more rebellious whisper within him, yearned to set sail for an entirely different experience, defying the pull of familial tradition.
As he approached the Sorting Hat alongside the small, nervous, yet eager crowd of first-years, he tried to steady himself. Brian, the boy he had quietly observed on the train like a bird in the wild, was still nearby. Saunders listened to the Sorting Hat's rather lengthy deliberations atop Brian's head and thought, “I hope it keeps its remarks about me a bit more concise.” When the Hat’s aged voice finally shouted the name Gryffindor, Saunders watched his Muggle-born acquaintance head towards his new house. Did this confirm some of the stereotypes he’d heard? Were a significant number of those with the lion crest on their robes people like Brian? That was, he concluded, a question worth pursuing.
When Professor Lear called out "Saunders Napier!", he swallowed lightly and stepped forward. As the Hat was placed upon his head, he tried to clear his mind of the swirling storm of thoughts. "Hmm," the Hat began, "another Napier." Well, the Hat couldn’t exactly be described as valuing discretion. "I usually put you in Slytherin, don't I?" Saunders gave a slight nod of acknowledgement. Even if his interlocutor was a hat, he was not the sort to ignore a remark to the point of rudeness.
"Is there any reason for me to act differently today?" the Hat inquired. This was a strikingly clear clue as to Saunders’ probable fate at Hogwarts. He gave the question some thought... Even if he differed in personality, didn’t he share, for instance, his grandfather’s penchant for ambition and achievement? Wasn’t his most consistent concern ensuring that everyone moved in alignment with his preferences? Were not all these traits traditionally associated with Slytherin? If so, why would the Hat make a different choice?
After several seconds, which felt like far longer to Saunders, the hat finally announced its final judgement: "Better be... Slytherin!"
Cheers erupted from the Slytherin table in the Great Hall as Saunders felt a confetti cannon of dark green mist explode in his mind. He was content though. He had stepped onto a well-trodden path, one tested and proven before him.

There was an atmosphere of anticipation in the huge Hogwarts hall, crowded with excited freshmen. The faculty placement ceremony was in full swing. The Allocating Hat, a wise artifact, relentlessly proclaimed the names of the students and the faculties to which they had been assigned.
Finally, it was Alex Finn King's turn. His heart pounded in his chest as he put on his allotment hat and sat down in a chair in front of everyone. The quiet voice of the hat rang inside his head.
“Hmmm... you have a sharp mind and ambition..... but there's also cunning... you could succeed in Slytherin...”
Alex's eyes lit up with hope. Slytherin was a faculty known for its cunning and ambition, and Alex had always felt that was where he belonged.
“But I also see courage and determination in you... Gryffindor might be right for you too...”
Alex hesitated. Gryffindor, the faculty of the brave, had always been considered his complete opposite. But could the hat's voice be true?
“Or perhaps you're suited for Ravenclaw... you're intelligent and thirsty for knowledge...”
Alex hesitated. Ravenclaw was the faculty of wisdom and intelligence, and he had always valued knowledge. But did he feel at home there?
“Or finally, Hufflepuff... you're loyal, hardworking, and not afraid of hard work...”
Alex sighed. Hufflepuff, the faculty of loyalty and devotion, didn't fit his idea of himself. But the voice of the hat sounded insistent.
Finally, after much deliberation, the hat gave its verdict:
“SLIZERIN!”
The hall exploded with applause. Alex felt a surge of pride as he made his way to the Slytherin table. He knew that was where he would find his true home.

It was September 1st. A day that would remain a crucial part of Valkyrja’s legacy henceforth. After embarking on what felt like ages on the train ride from King’s Cross Station, Valk felt herself itching to move somewhere. Anywhere at all. Something near the action. Her mind was running at a million miles an hour wondering where she’d be for the next seven years. After hours of hyper-fixating on this, she could hear her parents’ words reminding her that it would be okay and that they’d love her no matter what. She knew this innately and yet there was this sense of an imbalance where she could almost sense their hesitation in voicing their expectations.
Her father was from a proud lion of Gryffindors and her name had included all kinds of references to the brave Valkyrie warriors of their Nordic legends. Her mother on the other hand was from an even longer heritage of Slytherins and royal Rajasthani blood. True warriors and with a certain “breeding” if her grandmother’s words on repeat for the last few years would even leave her mind. Of course, her (mostly) perfect brother had fallen in line and somehow ended up in the great house of Slytherin, and while she was outwardly hopeful to be close to him while in a new environment, the words she hadn’t voiced in her sideward glances at her father was that she’d been secretly praying to follow in his footsteps. She loved both her parents dearly but she would always be her father’s girl.
As she settled into the boat that would take them across the Black Lake, her eyes followed the gentle ripples as they spread swiftly in circles expanding from the original point where her finger had glided across its surface. The tiny waves danced against the bottom of the boat and the bottom seemed miles away stored far beneath the depths of the naked eye’s view. She imagined what it would be like to be in the Slytherin dorm near the dungeons with the secrets of the lake as her daily view and as her eyes glanced down, she could see various creatures hiding just away from her purview.
Ripping her eyes from the mesmerizing view, she tried to take in the historical castle. Many had walked the halls she’d be walking and far more would remain once she left. The thought left her breathless as she stared ahead in wonder. It stood in front of her as if coming alive from the books she’d seen of princesses and powerful wizards. Distantly all she could see was the general details of the castle walls but she knew one day she’d have the freedom to gaze upon its strong walls and inspect all of the details that gave it vitality. Through the castle walls, she felt the remaining sun rays peeking through as if grazing her cheeks gently like a child with its mother giving her strength and fresh breath.
Before she could obsess any further, the boats docked and the group of them were cajoled into the castle's walls. Taking in a deep breath, she simmered in the cool breeze for a moment before becoming one of the hordes marching like respectable soldiers behind their general into the Great Hall. With the deep cloaks and uniforms sealed around her, she realized this was it. The moment that would be forever cemented in her memories was fast approaching and she wasn’t sure if it was going to be a duck migrating smoothly or a train wreck with broken brakes.
Rubbing what felt like sweaty hands on her robes, she followed the others and found herself being alphabetized for this Sorting Ceremony. She could vaguely hear the “SLYTHERIN” and “RAVENCLAW” bellowed out from the “intelligent” hat and a smattering of applause with cheers and a few disgruntled boos as more students ended up in houses that the house pride couldn’t handle. A few smirks were passed around and high fives for the newly inducted first years.
Twiddling her thumbs, the man in the great suit of armor mentioned a name “— mul-Kapadia”. Someone nudged her in the gut and a murmured “Ow!” left her lips before she realized there was a clearing of a throat. Bleary-eyed, she turned over her shoulder as someone indicated with their eyebrow that she was up. A gasped “Oh” was all she could get out as she scrambled forward.
As she walked forward, her eyes flitted towards the four long tables and she worried her lip until she found who she was looking for. Her older brother, Chandrajit nodded subtly and a sigh of relief was all she could show to explain how she’d been feeling. Her shoulders lowered from her ears as she approached the seat where the Hat would sit upon her head. Gently, she padded her way there and seated herself as quickly as she could given how long the ceremony was and she had no intentions of being that-kid-who-held-everything-up. No, thank you.
With all eyes on her, she lifted her chin as best as she could for an eleven-year-old and felt the weight of the ancient (and dusty in her opinion, not that she’d ever share it) Sorting Hat. It was moments before anything was mentioned and she was tempted to check if it had broken in the last few minutes between students but that would have been rude and her mother would have likely frowned upon it. Patience was not one of her virtues clearly.
“Not a patient girl are you, my dear?”
She blinked wondering if this thing could read her mind. It would be the least surprising thing that she’d heard from stories about the great wizards before her.
“Patience? I’m no Mediwizard!” she jokingly mentioned. If only her grandmother could see her now. She’d tell her how she’d brought ‘shame to herself, shame on her family, and shame on her cows’.
“A smart-aleck, oh oh oh! Maybe you’d do well i— No. Not there.”
She’d done it. She was going to be a Hufflepuff and both her parents would disown her, maybe send her to Azkaban while they were at it, and then sell her soul to a—
“YOU SHALL BE IN—"
"GRYFFINDOR!!”
Her brain was still buffering trying to catch up to the news while being simultaneously pulled up from the seat and ushered to the table adorned in deep reds and rich gold patterns. The applause felt even louder as she was pulled into a seat with aromas of delicious scents that reminded her of home.
Turning over her shoulder, she shrugged at her brother who was smiling wide and beaming in pride even if they might be some rivals now. Looking up above her at the floating decorated sky and brightly-lit candles, she grinned thinking of her father’s bear hugs and how she couldn’t wait to follow in his footsteps. Some of the people she’d rid the train offered vibrant smiles and a few of the older students squeezed her shoulders in support. It felt like home. She was home now. The castle was to be her new stomping grounds and she could envision her next seven years filled with joy and camaraderie.

The great hall was more beautiful than her mother and brother had described. The beauty of the walls up to the floating candles and the night sky, it all drew her in. Magic was always fascinating to her, but being in a place where you breathed it in with every step made her dizzy. The anticipation drew her in, wondering where she would be placed. Her brother often teased her, saying that she would end up a Hufflepuff, however the joke only made her doubt where she would end up. She didn't entirely mind where she was, but she wanted to be put in a place where she could succeed- to be her best.
When her name was called, she walked up and sat on the chair before the hat was placed on her. Nerves coursed through her, and the hat, making a quiet hum, made her only more curious as to what the hat was- Was it sentient due to magic being put onto it? Or was it sentient since it was crafted?
" Ah, a Curious mind you are. You seek to understand, to see the rational side of most things " Val flinched at the hat and began to speak to her- something her brother must have forgotten to tell her about. She listened to the hat, nodding slightly as she understood what it was saying.
" But that's not why you're intelligent. You're ambitious, striving for success. You learn so much, simply so that you can have a great future, and will put yourself first. Maybe.. Slytherin might be the best for you... You would fit in." She grinned slightly. While many had spoken ill of Slytherin, including her brother, she found the house to be something to look up to. She understood their drive, their ambition, and their cunningness and thought of it more as a good thing than bad.
" And yet.. there's something else. Yes... You are unafraid. You will do what others won't, and you will not dull yourself to fit in. Yes, you would do well in Slytherin, but it would not challenge or grow you. You want not just to succeed, but to thrive. Yes, I see.." It muttered, sprawling within her mind in a slightly unsettling way. She was curious about what the hat was speaking about but was more curious about what house she would be placed in.
" You shall be... GRYFFINDOR! "
The hat was lifted from her head after declaring her house, grinning as she practically skipped to the red and gold table, the colors appealing to her as rich as they were. The table cheered and clapped, and she was sure that her brother would be happy to hear she had gotten the same house as him. Her mother had been a Ravenclaw, expecting her kids to be one too, but sorting into a different house was fun. She sat at the table, pride enveloping her as she did.

Walking into the Great Hall for the first time was everything Lisa had ever dreamed of. Finally, after long goodbyes with her family and the excruciatingly long train ride to the school, the moment had finally come where she would be sorted into her house for the next seven years. Lisa came from a line of Hufflepuffs. Her mother and father Sarah and Robert had met at Hogwarts as they were both Hufflepuff alumni. Even though they told her it didn't matter where she got sorted she could feel the eerie presence of their preferred house looming over her. It's not that Lisa's parents made her feel as though she couldn't be sorted into any other house, but more that it was clear they wanted to deck out the living room in Hufflepuff swag.
Word Count: 504 words
Date: September 1st, 2024
Once inside the long room, Headmaster Solomon Lear began his speech about the importance of the sorting ceremony. It was quite difficult for Lisa to stand and listen to. She was busy staring down the room at all of the upperclassmen waiting for their new first years to get put up on display and sorted into weird cult-like organizations that were differentiated like different sports teams. It was all quite unusual and hard for Lisa to understand. Why would a talking hat determine what color she had to represent for the next seven years? Her parents were always proud Hufflepuffs but she really didn't understand the dedication and loyalty to a specific house. What did it matter anyway?
Lisa awaited as students were called up one by one to the sorting hat to await their fate. Eagerly, students sat up nervously as the hat dug through their minds determining their most prominent traits. The hat knew you better than you even knew yourself. After it was done nitpicking your brain the hat shouted out the house best seen fit and a roar of cheers would echo through the room as the new student moved to their new home. Lisa was just as nervous as everyone else of course, more so with anticipation than fear like some other students.
Finally, once it was her turn, Lisa heard her name called by the Headmaster and moved her way to the front of the room to sit on the stool and let the hat decide her fate.
"Ambitious, I see" the hat murmured. It was quiet enough that those in the way back definitely couldn't make out the words but those sitting in silence in the front could. "You have quite some wit in you but your drive seems to be what pushes you through most challenges that come your way," the Sorting Hat continued. "Better be SLYTHERIN!"
The room erupted with cheers and claps especially from those sitting at the Slytherin table. Lisa stood up from the stool as a small smirk appeared on her face. Slytherin was known for its ambition and resourcefulness. Lisa was quite happy to be corraled into this group, even if for some this decision was terrifying.

When Felix entered the Great hall, he felt his heart pumping loudly in his chest. "Mother, i love you for this." he mutter to himself. It's a weird feeling because he never felt this nervous before but on the other hand, he felt a strong excitement rushing through his blood that he had to remind himself to behave. His mother once told him the story about her first experience at Hogwarts, now he understand what she meant.
The first year were led to the Great hall as soon as they entered the castle. Felix knew about the beautiful night sky and floating lit candles that his brother once talked about, but seeing it with his own eyes is almost unreal!
The older students was sitting at the four long tables according to their sorted house. The hall were filled with faint chatter and laughters but it slowly fading out as the headmaster begin his short speech of welcoming the new faces before the sorting ceremony begin.
Felix look around, curiously seeing an old pointy hat that was put on the wooden chair. His brows furrowed. 'that's the hat?' he thought. To be sorted into a house, the first year will be called one by one by the alphabet order. Felix was among the first to get called.
Felix sigh quietly as he took a few steps towards the wooden chair. "Come on Felix, don't hope too much." he muttered once again.
The hat were placed on his head and he heard the hat muttering to itself about Felix characteristics. He swore he could feel all eyes on him.
"Another Rodriguez.. i see.. the loyal one indeed.." the hat said. The corner of his lips slowly tugging into a small, nervous grin.
"Well.. must be.. HUFFLEPUFF!!" The hat announced it. Felix exhaled heavily, his grin were place with a wide, proud smile. He was very glad he could follow his family's footstep.

Hogwarts seemed far more massive than she had expected she thought while entering the Great Hall. Erendriel is craning her neck to stare up in amazement at the ceiling, it reflects the outside's sky, right now it is the starry night sky with wispy clouds that flowing through the air. The Great Hall was alive and full of floating candles moving around the ceiling, there's ghosts floating, engaging, and laughing among the students.
Suddenly, A ghost slid softly passed Erendriel. She looked serene, unsettling, and felt so cold. Her breath caught at the sight in front of her, Four long tables draped in colored house banners full of students, and the professors table. Erendriel clutched the edges of her robes as, she feeling nervous with the other first years, while the atmosphere buzzed with excitement whispers surrounding her. Erendriel felt utterly small.
Headmaster Solomon Lear treads to the podium and delivers his opening speech for everyone, especially for the first years. He also explains the significance of the Houses, their own characteristic, and values. As if in queue the Sorting Hat is placed infront on a stool, and the Sorting Hat sings the Hogwarts song. “I read about this! The song was composed by the Sorting Hat. It’s so cool to hear it for the first time! Focus, Erendriel. You’re here. That’s what matters. You can definitely do this.” Even as she attempted to calm down herself, her heart is pounded louder with each namebeing called.
"Ravaxidor, Erendriel!"
The Headmaster’s voice bellowed as her name echoed off over the great hall, Her stomach lurched. “It’s my turn already? They’re all looking at me!!” The line parted as she stepped forward on the platform where the stool was. It looked impossibly high when she reached it, she tried to climbed on as gracefully as she could manage as her legs still feeling shaky beneath her.
The Sorting Hat was gently put on her head, and a voice within her resonated in her head said "Ah, I see... A curious one, aren’t you? A name with weight and a mind with potential. You are quiet and yet there's a sparkd of courage buried deep in your heart. You’ve faced uncertainty before, haven’t you? Yes, quite a clever mind. You think deeply, more than most at your age. But you doubt yourself—ah, no need for that here.”
Erendriel’s cheeks flushed. “It’s... reading me. What if it thinks I’m not enough? What if—”
“Hush, child. Not enough? You’ve barely begun to show your potential. And I know exactly where you’ll grow best.”
The hat paused, then shouted aloud for all to hear. “RAVENCLAW!”
Congratulatory smiles and applause they gave for her, but a loud applause thundered from the Ravenclaw table. Erendriel blinked in surprise, still unfazed. Ravenclaw. Her chest feels lighter as she slipped off the stool, someone removed the hat from her head.

1th September 2024
She had been waiting for this moment ever since she opened her eyes. Danuta was running around all day, getting ready for "the most important day of her life," as she put it. Her humour was unbothered, even from the long ride that got her here. As the matter of fact, every part got her more and more excited about what was going to happen as soon she gets through Hogwarts door.
Now Danuta looked in ave at the great hall. It was so big, so magical! This whole time, she thought her parents had overexaggerated how Hogwarts looked, but now when she saw it on her own eyes, she couldn't draw them away. Flying candles providing warm light over the faces of all the gathered, ghosts floating among the living, the moving portraits as a TVs put in beautifully crafted frame… And the ceiling! She could be looking up all day, if not the fact that she didn't had all day, of course. She seemed so amazed in all magical aspects that made that hall deserve its name. It was truly great.
For students surrounding her, that amazement might suggest not really being a part of the magical world. And they wouldn't be that far off. She wasn't a muggle, but the fact that her parents decided to keep her and her sister mostly around the non-magical world made her appreciate all what she saw here so much more, as well as knowing so much less about how it all works.
As she looked once again up at the ceiling. It was truly spectacular view. Danuta started thinking if some sort of hologram or projector could give similar effect in her room... she was so deep in thought for a moment that she forgot to listen what is happening in front of her.
"Danuta Kot!"
She startled a little, looking around. It took her a moment till she realized that it was finally her turn to get sorted. She smiled apologetically to the woman holding the sorting hat and quickly made her way to get her house selected. Kot sat down and clung her fingers to the stool, swinging her foots in anticipation. She smiled brightly at the deputy headmistress. She couldn't wait any more, just wanted her to already put this magical artefact on top of her ginger hair.
She was ready. No matter what the hat would say. Or rather, what hat wouldn't say. Hat landed on her head and... silence… The moment seemed like hours to Danuta. Was she not supposed to be here? Why the hat isn't doing anything? Was she not good enough for any of the houses? No, no... it couldn't be... As all that thoughts flew through her head at the great hall got filled with voice:
"Gryffindor!"
She squealed in happiness and jumped off her seat in order to run to the Gryffindor table, almost taking the sorting hat with her if not a quick move from the teacher to grasp it from the Girl's head before she ran away. She was so happy she got sorted at all, she didn't even thought about that she got in the Lion house and not any from the others. Not only that, but she didn't even know that much about this house. Her parents talked mostly about the other ones... but she didn't care. The opposite. She couldn't wait to share the News with her family. It was the beginning of something truly magical.

Willow thought, she won't ever forget her first experience on Hogwarts express. The thought of leaving her Journal in her suitcase had given her previous expression of a sigh. As she gathered herself to exit the train, she waited a bit until other students passed by her to make her exit. After a few minutes there was gap in the line to make her exit off. As soon as she stepped off and gazed upon the castle that is going to be her home for the school year, her jaw slightly dropped in amazement.1st September 2024
She wondered if there are secret passage ways. Perhaps any artifacts on display from previous attendees of Hogwarts, she thought. Her thoughts continued to wander and stumbled into thinking of the four houses. She wondered how her sister was sorted into Slytherin. Was it wrong to be in Slytherin she thought? She gave a slight shrug of her shoulders to herself and dismissed the feeling of being concerned.
Realizing there was several students around chatting with others, she tilt her head down in hopes not to attracted attention at the present moment. The students started moving into the Great hall in a single line. She noticed the students were looking up followed in suit of what others were doing and saw the ceiling enchanted. She appeared in awe of the over all look and continue to follow the line movement.
The Headmaster Solomon Lear gave his speech to all students and particular speech to first years. He He set the sorting hat down on the stool and gave its speech. As it was describing the houses, she heard of Gryffindor being brave of heart, Hufflepuff loyal. She knew she was neither of those things. Hearing of Ravenclaw and then of Slytherin. Her sister came into thoughts quickly. Distracted in her thoughts, her name was called twice. She moved in quick walk to come to the front and sat down. Once the hat was placed on her head, she heard the words mostly within her mind.
"Hrm... you're hardly difficult to place. You're father was a Ravenclaw, yet thoughts of your Sister in Slytherin. Slytherin is not for you, for you have intuition and eager to learn of items whether they are good or bad, which brings to your curiosity. RAVENCLAW!"
A roar of cheers more loudly could be heard from the Ravenclaw table and Willow went to sat down at the table. She was greeted by several people at the table. She gave a smile at them shyly and sat down. She listened to others being sorted and gave small clap when others were sorted into Ravenclaw.
