Though Mateo had been to Hogwarts last year and has seen most of the castle already, he hadn't entered the library yet. He wondered what the library looked like and what types of books they have.

One afternoon, Mateo made his way over to the library and decided to see if any of the books the library has catch his eyes. Usually, Mateo doesn't read, but he does love a good book.

It didn't occur to him how big the library is in Hogwarts. Mateo hadn't really step foot into Mahoutokoro's library, unless he was gonna study with his friends, but other than that, he'd study and do his homework in his dorm.

Mateo decided to look at all the books from shelf to shelf, but somehow, as he was looking around, he somehow got lost in the library, which he thought couldn't be possible.

Mateo decided to retrace his steps to see if he could find his way out of the sea of book cases he's currently in. As he was retracing his steps, he bumped into a girl.

As he would always do whenever apologizing to someone, Mateo bowed to her before returning to his full height and saying,
"I'm so sorry for bumping into you. I didn't see you,"

Ira piled yet another book atop the ever-growing stack. Ira carried at least two heavy books in her hands, The weight caused her to wobble slightly on her way.

These days, Ira has been more focused on her studies than ever. The thought of receiving anything below an E in any subject was enough to make her anxious, knowing it would result in a howler being sent to her. No doubt about it!

It wasn’t exactly a new thing in her family. Her cousins had suffered it more than once. Ira, however, was resolute in avoiding such a humiliating fate and it pushed her to focus even harder on her studies.

So, once again, Ira found herself in the library, her determination firm. She was resolved on absorbing as much knowledge as it could hold. On her way to a table, Ira paused to pick up another book, this one detailing the history of magical potions from a nearby shelf, adding it to her growing stack.

She stepped back a pace or two and turned, only to be knocked backward by someone who hadn’t been watching where they were going. Thrown off balance, Ira wobbled. The books slipped from her grasp and tumbled to the ground. One book delivered a sharp blow to her foot, making her wince immediately.

She vaguely heard him say something that included sorry, but Ira’s pain drowned out his words entirely. "Ah!" she cried out, a little too loudly for the library. Clenching her teeth, she muttered, "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" in a hushed tone, hopping on one foot, her hand gripping her leg in a futile attempt to soothe the sting.

Since Mateo hadn't realized where he was going, he also didn't realize the girl he had bumped into was carrying a stack of books. He only realized when she exclaimed in pain, notifying that one of the books had landed on her foot.

Mateo felt extremely guilty for causing the younger girl pain. He also didn't know what to do. So he once agin apologized,
"I'm so sorry. I didn't realize you were carrying so many books! I wish I had ice on me so you could ice your foot,"

Mateo had his wand on him, and he began thinking if any of the spells he's learned could help him out at this moment, but he couldn't find any that would. Mateo looked back down at the floor and noticed that her books were still on the floor so he said,
"Let me help you with these,"

He then bent down and picked up her books, and he was going to give them back, once he was sure she wasn't in pain anymore. Mateo then wondered if they should sit down, since it was probably a good idea, especially with how big and heavy the book that feel on her foot was, so he asked,
"Would you like to sit down? I think I saw a chair somewhere near here,"

Ira hissed through clenched teeth and drew in a sharp breath and released it slowly, her toes tingled from the lingering ache as a sharp reminder of the book’s impact. Lately, it seemed like people were constantly bumping into her, interrupting her perfectly calm and quiet day.

"Why is it always me?!" Ira groaned, half to herself and half to the universe, her eyes fixed on the ceiling as though some unseen force might finally offer her an explanation. Ira directed a pointed glare at him as she eased her foot back onto the ground. However, the genuine tone of his apology melted away her annoyance, if only slightly.

Ira shrugged, her tone calm yet slightly resigned. "It's alright," she muttered, "I'll just head to the hospital wing later today," she added. As he crouched to collect the fallen books, Ira started to say, "You don't have-" but before she could finish, he was already on his feet, holding them in his arms. "Thank you," she said quietly, offering a polite smile.

Ira reached forward to grab the pile of books from him, glancing at her aching foot before nodding. "I guess I do want to sit," she admitted quietly, realizing she couldn’t keep walking in this state without rest. Ira limped a step or two forward before halting and turning toward him. "What do you mean by 'I think I saw a chair'? Have you never actually been to the library before?" she inquired, her tone tinged with a hint of disbelief.

As Mateo was waiting for the girls reply, he heard her randomly say something, that he knew had nothing to do with him, but he figured a lot of people seemed to bump into her and only if he had seen where he was going, he wouldn't have bumped into her. Mateo caught her pointed glare, and knew that he deserved it.

While Mateo was collecting the books, he heard her say that he didn't have to, but he already did. He handed the pile of books over to her before saying,
"No problem. I feel like I owe you something, so anything you want me to do, I'll do it. Once again, I feel really bad for causing you pain,"

Mateo noticed that she nodded to when he asked if she wanted to sit down or not. Then he saw her begin to limp forward and he was about to follow her, but didn't when he saw her stop. He then heard her speak and decided to tell her the truth so he said,
"Well, I'm not sure if you noticed, but I don't attend this school. I'm here with everyone else from Mahoutokoro. And no, this is my first time in this library, but back at Mahoutokoro, I never really did go to the library, I tend to not visit the library much,"

When the boy declared he owed Ira and offered to do anything she wanted as repayment, Ira raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly, "I’ll hold onto that. But tell me, how long do I have before this offer expires?" As the boy shared that he was from Mahoutokoro, her eyes widened briefly in surprise and nodded along as he spoke. "I hope you’re enjoying your time here," she said with a warm smile.

As she made her way toward a table, limping slightly, she paused briefly to glance back and confirm he was still with her. "Alright, what sports do you play?" she asked with a casual tone. Based on her understanding, Ira was fairly certain that almost every foreign student who came to her school was involved in some kind of sport.

It only took a few steps for Ira to realise how challenging it was to manage the stack of books while limping. She stopped and turned to him, "Would you mind carrying half of these? You know, since you’re partly to blame." Her tone was light, but the quiet expectation in her voice was clear. After all, it was only fair that he helps lighten her burden.

When Mateo told the girl that he owed her and offered to do anything for her, he heard her chuckle softly and heard her speak. Mateo began to think about how long the girl had until the offer expires. When he was ready to answer, he heard her speak again and also saw her give him a warm smile. Mateo smiled back before he said,
"Thanks. Yes, I am. I honestly love this school. It's so pretty. I wish I could see what it looks like during the holidays, but I'm sure it'll be decorated to be all festive. As for how long you have, well, until I leave. I'm pretty sure that'll be before the end of the month,"

Whenever Mateo is at Hogwarts, he tends to forget how long he's at the castle for. He never wants to leave, but knows that his home is in Japan, and therefore, he must go back home and study at Mahoutokoro. Mateo turned his attention back to the girl and followed her as he watched her limp over to a table. Mateo then heard her ask what sports he plays and he smiled before saying,
"I'm a chaser. So, I play Quidditch. My parents are professionals, guess it runs in the family,"

After he had said that, he heard the girl ask him to carry half of the books. Mateo extended his arms out to take the books from her as he said,
"If you want I can carry all of them, but half I can carry as well,"

"It is indeed pretty," Ira agreed with a nod. Her face softened for a moment before her tone then grew slightly more serious as she added, "Also, If anyone bullies you here, though, let me know. I’ll take care of it."

Well, he was from a different school, from a different country. Ira believed the least she could do was assure him that he had support here. Hopefully, her new friend— assuming he’d be one— would feel at ease here if he wasn't already.

Ira shrugged slightly and said, "I honestly have no idea how it’s going to be decorated either, but my cousins swear they make the school look even more beautiful than it already does." Ira couldn’t wait to witness it with her own eyes.

Ira came to a sudden halt once again, surprise crossing her face. "Really?!" she exclaimed, before quickly lowering her voice as she remembered the library’s quiet rules. "That’s so cool! Quidditch is so fun to watch, and it must be even better to play. And wow—having professional Quidditch players as parents must be so cool!"

Ira let out a light chuckle, "yeah? Well, it's alright, I’ll manage half of them on my own." After he took half, they continued toward a table. Once they reached, she placed the stack down and settled into a chair.

"It’s a shame that you already paid your debt by helping me with the books," as she leaned back. "I was hoping I could score some free tickets for a Quidditch match as repayment!" Ira joked with a grin.

"Thanks for the assurance! But no one has bullied me yet," Mateo says.

It didn't occur to him that while he's here at Hogwarts, he could be bullied. At Mahoutokoro, Mateo hasn't even been bullied, and he hopes he doesn't. The Japanese boy doesn't even know if people bully others anymore.

Hearing the girl speak again, Mateo listened and imagined what the school would look like decorated for Christmas. He imagined the castle to have Christmas trees all decorated, the ceiling in the Great Hall to be enchanted so snow is falling, and there's decorations everywhere. Mateo loved what he was imagining, but he got lost in his thoughts. When Mateo returned to reality he then finally said,
"I bet they do. I wish I could come back here during the Christmas season, but I don't think I can. It'll be cool though, so I could see the decorations,"

Mateo hadn't really asked his headmistress if he could come back to Hogwarts during the winter season. Mateo wasn't even sure if that was allowed.

Mateo noticed that once again, the girl came to a sudden halt, and Mateo almost bumped into her again, but he didn't. He noticed that surprise was written all over her face, it was a reaction Mateo sometimes would receive from others when he told them his parents are professional Quidditch players. Hearing the girl speak brought a smile to his face. He then said,
"Yes really. It really is fun to watch and play. I'm glad I got onto the team. I had my first official match during the summer, I wasn't much help, but we still won. It really is! I learned so much from them! I hope I can use it in my matches though,"

After he heard the girl speak, he took half of the books and followed her over to a table. There were two chairs, so after she sat in one, he sat in the other one. Mateo then placed the half of books he was holding on the table near where he was sitting.

Mateo then heard the girl speak again, and though he knew she was joking, he still said,
"If you want, I could see if I could get you tickets to either my parents or my own matches. But for my own, it'll be during summer, so I'm pretty sure you could see it, if you attend the summer camp that is,"

Ira was genuinely pleased to know the boy hadn’t faced any unpleasant encounters in her school. Well, at least people had the decency not to trouble students from other schools. Ira smiled warmly, "That’s good to hear. I hope it stays that way."

"Well, don’t feel too bad," Ira said with a light chuckle. "Looks like I might miss out too. I’ll most likely be off home for the holidays," she replied with a shrug. If the decorations were up early, Ira could get her eyeful of it. " —But pictures coming your way if I’m still here when they’re done!" She added.

"Good luck with your matches! And hey, don’t sell yourself short. You’re on the team for a reason." Her cheeks burned as she remembered her own embarrassing attempts in flying class. "— Honestly, if you’d seen me on a broom, you’d have a good laugh," Ira laughed it off.

Ira laughed, shaking her head. "Oh, I was just kidding, I wasn’t seriously expecting free tickets. But I’ll definitely come watch your match next year —If I can make it to the camp. And I'd love to see your parents play sometime. Wait—what are their names?" She paused, blinking twice. "Actually, what’s your name?"
