Sabrina continued to run in full speed for about two more sets of stairs before steadily slowing down, as to not tire herself out too much. Thankfully, excluding a few grumpy portraits, their race didn't seem to alert anyone. At first, she kept on glancing back at Avis, making sure she was still within her eyesight, in case they needed to hide or something happened. But as they got further up, she was far too focused on her breathing to continue to do so, even omitting to pay attention to their surroundings.

At the begining of the stairs to Owelry, she sped up again, almost tripping over her own feet as she took the stairs by two. Running into the Owelry, she let out a choked chuckle, starteling a few owls, flinging her arms up above her head victoriously before bending over, palms pressed against her knees for support as she tried to calm her erratic breathing.

Avis' own footsteps echoed up the flight of stairs, getting closer before stoping at the top. Sabrina, who had already managed to somewhat catch her breath, straightened, flashing the other girl a toothy smile. She chuckled as the girl proclaimed them to be co-winners.

"If that's what'll make you feel better about your drastic defeat, then sure," she smirked, shaking the other girls hand in good sportsmanship. She tilted her head to aside as Avis brought up the saying, "Maybe, but then again if there was a bear, there would be no leaving the other behind. Partners in crime, ey?" she shrugged, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, a fact known by all. And to her, it truly was.

She of course understood that the saying was just that: a saying. But still, for whatever reason, she felt the need to make her stance clear. Even tho she might not fully trust Avis yet, she woudln't leave her to the bear to ensure her own survival. Or in their case, wouldn't leave her to get caught while sneaking off as to avoid punishment.

Absentmindedly, Sabrina looked out of the window, seeing the stars glistening on the dark night sky. "I don't think anyone heared us when we raced up here, but just to be safe, I am for being as quiet as possible when going down to the common room," she whispered, meeting Avis' eyes again, "we could stay here in silence for a minute or two, to make sure that noone went after us. Noise carries really easily on the circular staircase, so I'd take our shoes off before going down. We of course have to answer the riddle which - yeah bummer, as we need to audibly speak for that and it could take a while." she thought outloud, her voice hushed.

She paused for a moment before continuing, "In case of emergancy there are the loo's close to the common room which we could hide in - or we could run up back to the Owelry. When you sit back on that ledge," Sabrina nodded towards the windowsill she sat on just a few hours before, "no one should see you until they are further in the room and look back, giving you enough time to slip past them."

Sabrina clearly had a very specific way of doing things. But Avis was not going to be taking her shoes off. It was cold outside, and cold had a habit of spreading through stone. It wasn't cold it the castle, but it wasn't warm enough to take off her shoes. Besides, she had somewhat soft shoes for this, they weren't very loud if you were trying to keep them quiet.

In case of emergency? This didn't really qualify as an emergency, at least it Avis' opinion. A annoyance, sure, but not quite an emergency. Besides, the challenge was basically over, they had gotten to the owlery. "You are welcome to. Myself, I would like to get to bed." She gave Sabrina a small mock curtsey and a tip of her imaginary hat. "I await your contribution to our book." She turned on her heels and disappeared down the staircase, smiling to herself. She had been right. That had been fun. And it would, presumably, continue to be fun. Sabrina was much too worried about getting caught, but Avis disagreed. After all, what was one detention in the grand scheme of things? A nuisance, that's what. Certainly not something to be worried about.

She headed back to her common room, not paying attention to whether Sabrina was following. After answering the riddle, she quietly slipped into her dorm.

Sabrina was already in the process of taking her shoes off, her fingers slid between her heel and the shoe, tugging it down, as Avis declared that she is definitely not following her example. Not only that, she was totally dismissing all of Sabrina's precautions and escape routes.

Pouting, Sabrina briefly entertained the idea of flinging her shoe right at the back of the other girl's head as she carelessly made her way down the spiral stairs, ultimitely deciding against it, settling on folding her arms across her chest, clutching her shoes in her hands, one each. Whatever, she thought, I can proceed with my plan alone. Dramatically turning with a flick of her hair at no one but the bare walls and the softly snoring owls, she settled down on the floor, legs folded beneath her.

Sabrina might've seemed impulsive or spontaneous at times, and she was, but at her core, she was a bit of a planning freak. She liked to have a sense of order, of rules she lived by, repeating patterns. It provided her with a sense of stability and normalicy. So yes, she was impulsive, but there was a structure in that too. The same went for mischief. She always researched for that, making countless what-if scenarios, planning out various routes and outcomes. It wasn't that she was paranoid, or afraid of straying from a preset plan, but it was just the way in which she enjoyed it the most. It felt more elaborate, meaningful, fun.

She followed that formula. Followed many formulas. She always introduced herself in the same way, shaking the person's hand, she always put on her right sock first, she always shared her food and she always overprepared for mischief. She wasn't obsessive over them but.. still followed her private rules most of the time.

After a silent moment of pondering over that and cooling off, she exhaled deeply, deflating. A smile found it's way back to her lips. Okay so Avis had a different way about doing...well, everything. It was irritating, maddening, unlogical and fun.Yeah, she nodded to herself as she pushed herself back up, Avis is fun.

Letting the thought settle in her mind, she crept down the stairs, cautious and sneaky all the way back to her dorms, having a total blast doing it.
