Task 1: Generating an idea
The short summary:
My main character, Jay Brooke, is a powerful artist in his own means. He is able to manipulate people’s emotions through colours.

The not very summarised summary:
He is told of his abilities by a mysterious mentor who starts to teach him how to use it.

As he begins to “get the hang of it,” he begins trying to use his ability for good. He uses it to lull a fake sense of calm over criminals so that police or guards find wanted criminals walking the streets in broad daylight, easy to catch. The strange mentor even convinces Jay to make all his people happy, which he does despite growing discomfort about the ‘reality’ and ethical questions surrounding the feelings he induces in people.

One cold winter’s day, he sees a news article about… him. Only it portrays him as an enigmatic force manipulating people and inducing a ‘false, unproductive level of satisfaction.’ Only one person could have leaked this information, so armed with his paint and brushes, he sets out to find his mentor.

After this, generally battle and things, maybe make some allies.

End with him back in his small house, keeping away his tools until the need arises for a new hero a century later.

Part A: World Building
This story is set in a cold continent called Borealis, that is split into 3 major nations ringed by mountains and 3 minor ones, one on the mountains, one sitting just outside of this protective ring, and one on the coast so that the 6 countries form a spiral if seen on a map.

The innermost major nation is called Borealis after the continent, and its capital city is Aquilous(pronounced a-kee-lows). The mysterious mentor lives somewhere in Borealis(nation)

The next nation over is Hiems(pronounced hee-ams), its capital is Chemnas(pronounced shem-nahs).

I could go on for quite a while, but I haven’t come up with enough names, so I’ll skip right to Jay’s town. He lives in the coastal nation, Glacies(gla-shee-es), within one of the small towns, Gelum.

Each nation is well known for one art that almost all the citizens compete in trying to be the best at. In Borealis(the country, not the continent) it is acting. In Hiems, it is sculpting and carving, and so on, until Glacies, where it is painting.

And every century, in that nation, there is someone who has a sort of magical twist to that art. About 3 decades ago, Hiems had a woman who could make her models come to life. In Borealis, 10 decades ago, there was a man who could shapeshift(it’s about time Borealis got a new magic user). And now in Glacies, there is Jay.

Part B: Character Creation
Bios:
Jay
||Full name: Jay Brooke||Age: around 22||Gender: AMAB(Assigned Male At Birth)||Preferred pronouns: he/him||Family: a mother and a father who are 54 and 53 years old, respectively. An older brother who is 27 and a younger sister who is 16.|| Powers/special abilities: he is able to manipulate or affect people’s emotions using colours, as long as he painted then and ‘assigned’/‘gave’ them a function.||Personality: Quirky, fun and smart, he is quick to learn things and always tries to stay on the side of logic and reason, especially whenever he meets with his eccentric family of five, but this façade is easy to crack if he is made angry or scared.||

The Mentor
||Full name: Darkwood ???||Age: Unknown, but there have been guesses ranging from 45 to 100||Gender: AMAB||Preferred pronouns: sir/he/him||Family: deceased father and mother, one known brother, one wife and daughter.|| Powers/special abilities: he can compel anyone to do things with his voice, and he has minimal memory manipulation powers as well.||Personality: Enigmatic and charming, he’s a dangerous force. With similar powers to Jay and the same speed of understanding, the biggest thing that sets them apart a is that Darkwood, or The Mentor, lacks the strong conscience that keeps Jay from doing a lot of things that Darkwood would gladly do for power.||

Task 3: Finding time
I plan to write for about 3 hours a day as I am currently having a holiday, so I’ve got time. Probably I will spread it out into 6 half-an-hour long writing sprees throughout the day so I have time in between to handle the few things I need to do, and, most importantly, find new inspiration to fuel the story. It’ll probably look like this:
Morning(when I wake up - 12pm)
Write from 11am-11:30am

Noon(12pm - 3:30pm)
Lunch from 12pm to 12:30pm
Write from 12:30 to 1pm
Break
Write from 1:50pm to 2:20pm
And so on.
