As Mateo was telling the younger girl about his flying story, he noticed that she was smiling longingly and assumed she was day dreaming about all the wonderful things she could do while flying. But before that, she needs practice.

Hearing the younger girl speak, he waited for her to try what he had told her to do. When he saw her flying, he noticed how fast she was going and realized that she probably wouldn't be able to control her broom, or at least was panicking.

Mateo raced after her, but wasn't sure if he should tell her to try to stop or to just stop near where the wall is at the height she's at and try to stop her broom. Mateo was pretty sure he could use a spell to stop the broom, but he wasn't sure which one to use.

Mateo decided to stop in front of the wall, so when he reached the wall, he tipped down, until he was at the same height as her and stopped. From where he was, he could clearly see her, and so he said,
"Try to stop the broom! Don't panic! The broom is still in your control, remember that!"

Mateo hoped the younger girl had heard him, and hopefully she'll stop, otherwise she'll crash right into him! Perhaps they should've worked on speed first instead of height.

Was she screaming? She had no idea. Maybe she was, and just couldn't hear it above the wind's deafening roar. Maybe she just lost the ability to scream, for the moment. It had always gone like that: she would lose control over the broom, fly too fast into some wall, and crash. Or the professor would catch her, and she would go safely to the ground, and doubt whether she wanted to fly again.

But every time, over and over again, she fell back into dreaming of how flying made her feel, and she would go and practice. And fail again.

Well, there was just no hope now. She was going at full speed towards the wall– but now the boy was there too, hovering in place, telling her to take control of the broom.

She had never been able to before; she didn't really even have any idea how. If he didn't move now, they would both get hurt. "How?? How do I stop?!" She hoped he could hear her. Maybe she hadn't even said the words at all; she had no idea at this point.

It was fun, though, flying at this speed. She didn't want to meet the wall, but she didn't really want to stop, either. It was exhilarating, thrilling, the feeling was intoxicating, especially when mixed with the panic.

She had to stop though, somehow. Amela hadn't really anticipated the outcome, so she turned the broom handle to the right firmly. If she couldn't stop, then at least turn away from the wall, to buy some more time.

Mateo watched as the younger girl was still flying at a fast speed towards him. Mateo hoped she'd heard his command, because if she didn't, she'll crash into him, or he could always grab ahold of her broom handle in case she didn't stop. When Mateo heard the younger girls words, he sighed.

"Does she really not know how to stop? I mean, it makes sense, given the situation she's in. Uh, how do I explain this in English? Mateo thought.

Mateo knew exactly how to stop the broom, but he knew the Japanese explanation for it. Mateo took a while to translate how she should stop the broom, and by the time he was about to say it, she had already done it. Turning the broom firmly to the right would stop the broom from crashing into the wall.

"There! You stopped the broom from crashing into the wall. Now, try to land on the ground safely!" Mateo yelled out to her.

Mateo didn't want her to crash into the wall anymore, and nor did he want her to crash into the ground, so he hoped she'd heard what he had just said to her, because if not, Mateo will have to continue blocking the wall from her. Mateo now knew he should've started with speed control instead of finding the comfortable height.

Shocked, Amelia realized that she'd slowed down. Up until now, it had always just caused her to turn around and go on at the same speed. For some reason, it had now worked, and she was just drifting slowly to the right.

The sudden change of speed was so startling, Amelia just stared at her broom, stunned. Everything was in the right shape again; the wind just a slight breeze compared to its strength when combined with the speed, colours no longer mixed together.

How come it had never worked before?! She would have to ask this guy; he seemed to be experienced, as he didn't flinch when she almost collided with him and the wall. He obviously knew what he was doing.

Listening to his guidance, she nodded. Landing on the ground seemed perfect right now. She pointed the broom handle downwards lightly, hoping she wouldn't flatten herself against the ground instead of the wall, at top speed.

Miraculously, the broom glided down slowly, as if it'd lost all of its energy. She hadn't, though. She was all warmed up, excited, her heart still beating fast. She wished to try again, but this time with a bit more restraint. Something about the feeling of being out of control was attractive to her, as if the danger made it so much fun.

Eventually, she reached the ground, just as the boy had instructed. She rested her legs on the ground gently, while still sitting on her broom. That way, she was safe on the ground and on the broom at the same time. "Thanks," she said, meaning it. "What now? And what's your name? I don't think I've seen you around before."

Mateo looked closely at the girl and watched as she was slowing down. He wondered if she had actually tried that before, but who knows, obviously the girl did not him. Mateo then saw the younger girl listen to him and watched as she began to descend. Once he noticed that she was safely on the ground, he zoomed down towards the ground and stopped before he'd crash.

He looked at the girl and noticed that she was probably ready to continue flying, which made him smile lightly. Hearing the girl speak, Mateo listened to her before he said,
"No problem. Can't have ya crashing into anything while I'm here. I'm Mateo Yamamoto. Ah, you definitely wouldn't have seen me before. I'm from the Japanese wizarding school, Mahoutokoro. Everyone else form my school, and from other schools, are here at Hogwarts. For the fall ball that had passed. What's next? Well, if your up for it, we can continue flying, but this time, work on speed. You need speed control as well. And we should've done that first,"

Mateo wasn't entirely sure if the younger girl was ready to continue flying or not, but he just mentioned speed training since she did indeed ask him what's next, and so, that'll be what's next.

As the boy stopped midair next to her, in full control over his broom, he explained that he was from another wizarding school–a Japanese one! She had heard once Japan has a bit of a different etiquette than the United Kingdom. She just had to hope she didn't offend him somehow, then, and remember to apologize later.

How come she wasn't aware of it, though? She knew there were some things going on at Hogwarts at the moment and a ball of some sort, but as a first year, a new student, she was so busy trying to keep her head up with the usual goings-on of Hogwarts, such as studies, friends, and not getting lost, that she forgot to pay attention to the special things. Oh well, no need to feel disappointed; next year should have a ball too, right? Then she would get to experience it fully.

"Thanks for helping me out, Mateo. I'm Amelia, a regular student at Hogwarts." As she memorized his first name, she worked up her courage. She craved to fly again, but the adrenaline rush started to fade, and fear was creeping in its place. "Alright, speed, you say? How, then?" Getting ready to fly again, she repositioned herself on the broom, ready to hit the ground and fly up high.

As Mateo was waiting for the younger girl to reply, and possibly say her name, Mateo began to think about how he'll be teaching her speed control next. Mateo needed a solid plan, in case the younger girl messed up, and so he decided to make her fly slowly and gradually go faster until she can't control her broom, then he'll have her stop, or firmly turn right.

Once his plan was finalized, he waited for the younger girl to speak. Upon hearing her speak. He listened before he said,
"No problem. I'm glad I was able to help. Though you have a bit more to learn including how to control your broom, but I'll help you improve. How are you liking Hogwarts so far, Amelia?"

Mateo noticed that Amelia hadn't asked him how to start doing speed control, but then again, she was probably experiencing emotion change, just not showing it. When he finally heard her ask him how to work on her speed he said,
"Alright, so, you'll start off slowly, either at your comfortable height or at a much lower height to the ground. Then when you think you wanna go faster, slowly increase your speed, and if you think your going too fast, try to stop, or firmly turn to the right, then once your broom has stopped, go back down to the ground,"

How is Hogwarts so far? Well, it wasn't a dream– there were studies and homework and whatnot to do all the time, but it did have its fun sides, such as messing around with friends, discovering secrets, and, well, obviously flying, too.

She couldn't fly at home– mum wouldn't let her, not with all the Muggles around; besides, Amelia believed her mum wouldn't have let her anyway, even if they lived in a wizards-only area, because it was 'too dangerous to fly without supervision, and I don't have the time for it', as her mum had always stated.

Brushing those thoughts aside, she just shrugged in response, as if saying 'it's alright'. Because now, she needed to focus on flying, not on Hogwarts and other unimportant things.

"Okay, so like, this?" she asked, trying to follow Mateo's instructions. She was a bit higher than a second ago, and flew slowly in a small wavy line forwards.

Leaning a bit forward, she increased her speed. It was way faster than she expected, though– not as fast as before, no, but faster than she had intended. She leaned backwards to balance the speed, the broom slowed down, reaching the speed she had aimed at before.

She was now flying at a relaxed speed. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the slight breeze; it might not have been fast, but it was lovely.

As Mateo was waiting for a reply from Amelia, he once again looked around the Quidditch Pitch, and though they were on the Quidditch Training Pitch, Mateo still enjoyed the site he was seeing. Mateo had mostly only seen the flying area and Quidditch Pitch at his own school, Mahoutokoro, but he loved Hogwarts as well.

Mateo then looked over at Amelia when she replied to his question about how Hogwarts is so far. And she said that it's alright. Mateo just nodded his head.

He then waited for Amelia to start flying, and when she spoke, Mateo watched her carefully making sure she is following his instructions.

Mateo watched as she slowly began to fly and though she was flying in a wavy line, then he noticed as she began to go faster, until she slowed down a bit and he knew she had found the right speed for her.

"Good job, Amelia! Your doing great!" Mateo called out to her.

Mateo was proud of her. She was a quick and fast learner and was glad that what his parents had taught him was able to help Amelia improve her flight. Mateo then began to think what the next thing he should have Amelia do, that is if she asked.

Keeping her pace, Amelia flew on, Mateo cheering in the back. This speed was easy enough to maintain, but it wasn't as satisfying as before. After a few minutes, she wanted to go faster so badly...

Smirking to herself, Amelia leaned forward sharply, urging the broom to go faster, just slightly... Or maybe a bit more... Amelia realized she would lose control of the broom if she didn't stop now. It was going faster and faster, just like before. Exhilarating, but dangerous. Ugh, how she wished she could just fly like that all day long!

But now she was familiar with the way to stop, and she needed to practice. Pushing the handle to the right, she slowed abruptly. Cheeks pink from the cold wind and exercise, she lowered herself to the ground, gliding towards Mateo.

"Okay, I think I can recognize when to slow down now. I should probably just practice it more, right? Is there anything else I need to know for basic flying?" she said, pushing her hair away from her face; it was all tangled from the wind. She would have to brush it later for hours... She stopped herself from sighing at the thought.

The thoughts went away quickly, though, replaced by excitement from flying; she was on firm ground now, but still thrilled.
