Practice with me?
Honestly, why did the chandelier light up at such an early hour? It's the weekend; why couldn't she have some more time to sleep?! Such a rainy, cold Saturday, too, perfect for staying longer in bed, cuddled in the warm blankets.
A bit bothered, Amelia sighed. Well, it was a rather nice day, and she did need to practice her flying skills. She liked the feeling of the wind rushing through her, pushing her back, with nothing holding her to the ground. The thought of it softened her mood, and soon she was out of bed. She wasn't good at flying, though, so she had to practice if she wanted to experience it without losing control and hurting herself. She had to learn how to direct her broom better, and if she was up anyway, she could do it now.
Yawning through her morning routine, she chose an outfit for the day, comfortable for flying– a simple bottle-green hoodie paired with long black pants. Finally, Amelia finished her breakfast and went out to the quidditch training pitch, the wind pushing her only slightly, weakened by the high stone walls. After a quick run to the broom shed, she picked up one that seemed in a good enough condition, and went back to the pitch, warmer now that she ran a bit.
Someone else was there now, though. He had dark hair and eyes to match, and definitely a better broom than the one she'd picked. He seemed ready to push off the ground and fly away, but stopped for some reason. Was he a quidditch player? Maybe he could help her practice- she really needed to better her technique.
"Excuse me," she approached, calling out to him. "Are you a quidditch player? Do you happen to have any good tips?"

Practice with me?
A quidditch player! And a chaser, too! The best position to play in the team- flying around and zigzagging in the air, moving around, not stopping for a second. He has to be very skilled, then! She didn't recognize him as a Slytherin, though– is it even allowed to exchange this type of tips between houses? It's not like she's a player for her own house... But no, she didn't need game tips, just some basic flying, so that's fine, right?
As he hovered above the ground, she mounted her broom, too, and rose up, hovering near, but not too close, level with him. Eyeing the ground carefully, she said, "Yeah, I need help with flying. I love it, but whenever I fly too high, I end up losing my balance and control over the broom." Wincing at the memories of some of her more painful falls, she went on. "It usually makes me have an unpleasant meeting with the wall..."
Risking it, she ascended a bit more, almost feeling the adrenaline that always accompanied the climb- almost! She would have to fly faster and higher to reach it, and that would probably bring an unwelcome result. She was a bit higher than the chaser now, though, but not much.

Practice with me?
Now?! Try now?? But– she had no idea how– she didn't even have the skill– how did he do that so smoothly?! Well, there's no point in just hanging around, is there? It's now or never!
Determined, she leaned forward– or rather, upward; directions could be weird and confusing when flying– Amelia soared high, repeating his instructions in her mind: comfortable height, and if she was out of control, then slow down and descend slightly. Simple enough. She could do it, right?
Only a few meters beneath him, she stopped climbing; she felt the broom slipping out of her grasp, keen to fly ahead without her, go wherever the wind would take it, leaving her behind. But no! Although the boy's own story of crashing was entertaining, she wasn't willing to experience it herself, especially with her own background with flying mishaps.
So no, she wouldn't let the broom out of her control! She had to restrain it, pull it back. Holding the handle firmly, she let herself fall down a little, until she was at ease with the height. Amelia held herself in place despite the slight swaying the wind had caused. What now, though? She yelled upward, fighting to be heard through the roaring wind. "Now what? I can't go any higher!"

Practice with me?
Higher. Okay, she could do it, absolutely, she was so capable... Yeah...
Hesitating, she looked down to the distant ground and back up at the experienced boy above her. Yeah, she definitely could... not do this!!
Taking a deep breath, she pushed the broom a little bit higher, shaking. The more she advanced upwards, the stronger the wind became, and the more she struggled to maintain her hold on the school broom. She would have to thank him later for his kind and patient tutoring. He was so kind to help her during his free time. She couldn't disappoint him now, but she couldn't go any higher. Amelia loved heights, but without control over her broom...
Well, her goal wasn't Quidditch; it was just to fly– to feel the freedom of accelerating through the clouds and soaring across the sky. To breathe the crisp, cold air, to cut through it. And besides, even if she wanted to be a Quidditch player, she would be a Chaser. Still, that thrill of flying required some height.
"I'm not really into Quidditch," she replied, her eyes focused on the unstable broom handle, "Just flying, y'know? Up into the clouds." A nervous giggle escaped her; she had never been this high up before. It was a wonderful feeling, but it was accompanied by dread of falling.

Practice with me?
Amelia smiled longingly upon hearing his description of flying. One day she will reach the clouds too, and have her own memories of what it feels like. She will have her own broom, and she would fly everywhere, anywhere! She would fly alongside the birds, outpace the Muggle airplanes. She would cross the world on her broom and see it all from above. She would have to be wary of other wizards, of course, but still...
Until that dream could come true, though, she needed to practice. Snapping back into reality, she nodded solemnly. "Yup, that's about the highest I can go."
Now just keep at this level and fly around. Okay. She kind of managed to do the former task; why not this one? Taking a deep breath of the cold breeze around her, she launched forward.
As she exceeded her usual speed, she could feel the desired thrill of flying. Everything blurred around her; colors melting into each other, the wind shrieking in her ears. She laughed merrily, savouring the moment. It was so fast, she loved it. So fast, just as her heartbeat. So fast, she couldn't stop.
Her adrenaline rush was quickly followed by pure panic. The wall was still far away, but she wouldn't be able to stop in time. The broom was still in her hands, but she was no longer able to direct it.
