Once again, Mateo had woken up pretty early, and he couldn't go back to sleep, so he made his way to the Great Hall to have an early breakfast before he went back to the campgrounds to grab his Nimbus 1700, which he had bought with his own money, since on the same day he got his first instance of magic, he broke the broom his parents bought him.

Last year, when Mateo had visited Hogwarts, he mostly explored the inside of the castle and went no farther than the Great Lake, probably because he wanted to see and get to know his childhood friend better.

But today, Mateo was going to finally visit the one place he's been meaning to see, the Quidditch field and the Quidditch Training Pitch.

Though he's never been to where the flying classes are taught, somehow Mateo made his way over without getting lost. Mateo looked around the field, taking in everything he saw. He always loved the Quidditch field, whether he's the one playing, or he's watching someone else play. The field always felt like a safe place for him.

Smiling, Mateo was about to mount his broom and start to fly, until he sensed someone walking over. Mateo had no idea if any prefects were awake and wanted to put him into detention or give him a warning, but he hoped it was a student wanting to fly or practice Quidditch with him.

Honestly, why did the chandelier light up at such an early hour? It's the weekend; why couldn't she have some more time to sleep?! Such a rainy, cold Saturday, too, perfect for staying longer in bed, cuddled in the warm blankets.

A bit bothered, Amelia sighed. Well, it was a rather nice day, and she did need to practice her flying skills. She liked the feeling of the wind rushing through her, pushing her back, with nothing holding her to the ground. The thought of it softened her mood, and soon she was out of bed. She wasn't good at flying, though, so she had to practice if she wanted to experience it without losing control and hurting herself. She had to learn how to direct her broom better, and if she was up anyway, she could do it now.

Yawning through her morning routine, she chose an outfit for the day, comfortable for flying– a simple bottle-green hoodie paired with long black pants. Finally, Amelia finished her breakfast and went out to the quidditch training pitch, the wind pushing her only slightly, weakened by the high stone walls. After a quick run to the broom shed, she picked up one that seemed in a good enough condition, and went back to the pitch, warmer now that she ran a bit.

Someone else was there now, though. He had dark hair and eyes to match, and definitely a better broom than the one she'd picked. He seemed ready to push off the ground and fly away, but stopped for some reason. Was he a quidditch player? Maybe he could help her practice- she really needed to better her technique.

"Excuse me," she approached, calling out to him. "Are you a quidditch player? Do you happen to have any good tips?"

Hearing the voice of the person who he sensed, Mateo realized it was a feminie voice. When he turned around, since he wasn't exactly about to fly, he saw a younger girl. Mateo then realized he should probably answer her question, so he said,
"Yes, I'm a Quidditch player. I'm a chaser. Tips? With the game itself or flying? I've only been in one official match, but practice is key, for sure. D'you need any help with flying?"

Mateo then eyed the broom the younger girl had in her hands and noticed it was a school broom. Mateo hadn't actually used the school brooms at Hogwarts, but it couldn't be that different from another type of broom, right?

As Mateo waited for a reply from the younger girl, he mounted his broom again, got onto it, and pushed off of the ground and simply hovered. Mateo thought it'll be good to be somewhat in the air while waiting for the girls response so he can see if he'll be helping her or not.

Mateo enjoyed being in the air, he wondered if it was because of his passion and obsession with quidditch, or because he just loves to fly. But he feels a rush of joy each time and is a lot more happier whenever he's flying.

A quidditch player! And a chaser, too! The best position to play in the team- flying around and zigzagging in the air, moving around, not stopping for a second. He has to be very skilled, then! She didn't recognize him as a Slytherin, though– is it even allowed to exchange this type of tips between houses? It's not like she's a player for her own house... But no, she didn't need game tips, just some basic flying, so that's fine, right?

As he hovered above the ground, she mounted her broom, too, and rose up, hovering near, but not too close, level with him. Eyeing the ground carefully, she said, "Yeah, I need help with flying. I love it, but whenever I fly too high, I end up losing my balance and control over the broom." Wincing at the memories of some of her more painful falls, she went on. "It usually makes me have an unpleasant meeting with the wall..."

Risking it, she ascended a bit more, almost feeling the adrenaline that always accompanied the climb- almost! She would have to fly faster and higher to reach it, and that would probably bring an unwelcome result. She was a bit higher than the chaser now, though, but not much.

Mateo watched as the younger girl had also mounted her broom and saw her hover near, but not too close to him, but the same level of height she was off the ground. He then saw her eyeing the ground carefully before he heard her speak. He listened carefully to what she had to say before he himself said,
"Ah, that used to happen to me a lot when I was younger. This is actually my second broom. My first broom I had broke when I was five. I accidentally flew too high, and tried to stop and go back down, but then I bumped into a tree, broke my broom, and almost broke some bone in my body. But, my best advice is to fly high, fly to a comfortable height, if you fly higher then your comfortable height, slow down and slightly fly down until you reach your ideal height, like this,"

After Mateo had finished speaking, he waited a bit, so then the words he had just said were heard by the younger girl and she was watching him before he flew up towards the clouds. As he was flying, he felt happy and comfortable, but when he started to feel a tad bit uncomfortable, by how high he was, he slowed down, before he slowly tipped back down, and stopped when he felt comfortable. From how high he was, he looked down at the younger girl and yelled,
"Now you try!"

Now?! Try now?? But– she had no idea how– she didn't even have the skill– how did he do that so smoothly?! Well, there's no point in just hanging around, is there? It's now or never!

Determined, she leaned forward– or rather, upward; directions could be weird and confusing when flying– Amelia soared high, repeating his instructions in her mind: comfortable height, and if she was out of control, then slow down and descend slightly. Simple enough. She could do it, right?

Only a few meters beneath him, she stopped climbing; she felt the broom slipping out of her grasp, keen to fly ahead without her, go wherever the wind would take it, leaving her behind. But no! Although the boy's own story of crashing was entertaining, she wasn't willing to experience it herself, especially with her own background with flying mishaps.

So no, she wouldn't let the broom out of her control! She had to restrain it, pull it back. Holding the handle firmly, she let herself fall down a little, until she was at ease with the height. Amelia held herself in place despite the slight swaying the wind had caused. What now, though? She yelled upward, fighting to be heard through the roaring wind. "Now what? I can't go any higher!"

After he had showed his example and told her to try, Mateo saw the younger girl start to fly higher and higher, until he assumed, she found her destined height, which she tipped back down towards. Mateo was proud of her. Usually no one can perfect that for the first time. He himself had a hard time doing it when he was younger.

"You need to practice flying right? Try to fly higher. Height is key to Quidditch, especially if your in the seeker position since you don't know where the snitch will be. Unless you wanna move onto Quidditch?" Mateo yelled down to the girl who was again below her.

Mateo knew that her ideal height wouldn't be near his. He had been flying for quite some time, but he was impressed by how high she was. He decided to give her two options, either try flying higher, and practice broom control, or move onto practicing Quidditch, which Mateo actually wasn't sure if she wanted to do. But he was capable of helping her with both, or at least he hoped he was capable of helping her with the flying aspect. But then again, he never really did help anyone fly before, so this was new to him, but so far so good.

Higher. Okay, she could do it, absolutely, she was so capable... Yeah...

Hesitating, she looked down to the distant ground and back up at the experienced boy above her. Yeah, she definitely could... not do this!!

Taking a deep breath, she pushed the broom a little bit higher, shaking. The more she advanced upwards, the stronger the wind became, and the more she struggled to maintain her hold on the school broom. She would have to thank him later for his kind and patient tutoring. He was so kind to help her during his free time. She couldn't disappoint him now, but she couldn't go any higher. Amelia loved heights, but without control over her broom...

Well, her goal wasn't Quidditch; it was just to fly– to feel the freedom of accelerating through the clouds and soaring across the sky. To breathe the crisp, cold air, to cut through it. And besides, even if she wanted to be a Quidditch player, she would be a Chaser. Still, that thrill of flying required some height.

"I'm not really into Quidditch," she replied, her eyes focused on the unstable broom handle, "Just flying, y'know? Up into the clouds." A nervous giggle escaped her; she had never been this high up before. It was a wonderful feeling, but it was accompanied by dread of falling.

After he had showed his example and told hMateo watched the younger girl as she rose up higher. Mateo was ready to sweep down and catch her if she were to fall. Mateo was basically telling her to do what his parents had told him to do after he had crashed and broke his first broom.

Mateo knew she was nervous, because he noticed that her broom handle was shaking. Mateo felt like that, but then he got used to the height. Mateo noticed that she was no longer flying any higher, and he knew that she couldn't anymore.

Mateo wasn't disappointed by the fact that she couldn't go any higher. It takes a while to be able to go higher, especially when your flying. Hearing the younger girl speak, he listened before saying,
"Being up in the clouds is honestly the best. You can interact with beings that you haven't interacted with before. One time, I flew so high, I was able to touch a cloud. The cloud felt so fluffy, as if it were a bed. You can't go any higher, huh? Well, if you found your max in height, why dontcha just fly around at the height your at right now, see how it is, y'know?"

Amelia smiled longingly upon hearing his description of flying. One day she will reach the clouds too, and have her own memories of what it feels like. She will have her own broom, and she would fly everywhere, anywhere! She would fly alongside the birds, outpace the Muggle airplanes. She would cross the world on her broom and see it all from above. She would have to be wary of other wizards, of course, but still...

Until that dream could come true, though, she needed to practice. Snapping back into reality, she nodded solemnly. "Yup, that's about the highest I can go."

Now just keep at this level and fly around. Okay. She kind of managed to do the former task; why not this one? Taking a deep breath of the cold breeze around her, she launched forward.

As she exceeded her usual speed, she could feel the desired thrill of flying. Everything blurred around her; colors melting into each other, the wind shrieking in her ears. She laughed merrily, savouring the moment. It was so fast, she loved it. So fast, just as her heartbeat. So fast, she couldn't stop.

Her adrenaline rush was quickly followed by pure panic. The wall was still far away, but she wouldn't be able to stop in time. The broom was still in her hands, but she was no longer able to direct it.
