Swimming in the Lake
Darcy walked out onto the rim of the lake and put her summer trunk down. She was wearing a black one-piece swimsuit with a box cut for the legs. She sat down, the cool water soothing her almost sunburnt legs, and dropped in. The water was so murky, yet so clean, and so warm, yet so refreshing. She wasn't the best, while decent at swimming, so, turning onto her back, she made a starfish-like shape in the water, and her body floated on the shiny surface. After regaining her energy, Darcy flipped horizontally and kicked to stay upright. She swam over to the side of the lake again grabbed a self-blowing float (it was in the shape of a narwhal on it's back) and 'Spellbook Of Summer Spells' that her mother had lent her. She lay on the float and read through her book.
She eventually grew tired and placed the book back in the trunk, got her black summer hat out and relaxed in the warm rays of the sun. The water beneath her was smooth as glass, and while it was murky it was rather easy to see some of the more colourful pebbles and algae. When the wind picked up, Darcy let the float deflate itself and, shoving it into a plastic bag, went for another swim. She hadn't practised in a while, so it was nice to swim and dive without an incredibly strict instructor. The sun had grown hotter despite the wind picking up, so Darcy would let herself be carried away by the warm waves.
Once it had become 5:00 pm Darcy decided she was ready to retreat back to dry land. She kicked her legs and threw her arms hard, and clambered back onto the shore. She was dripping wet, so wringing out her hair she picked up her trunk and headed to her cabin to dry off and get changed, leaving the great lake behind her.

Swimming in the Lake
@Oliver Lock and open to interactionsAfter Maggie, Charlotte, and Carson had come back from the nurse’s, Carson had dashed off to go talk to some first years, and the rest of the group sat on the hot sand, idly charting with one another.
“You alright, Maggie?” he asked, smiling at her. He glanced back towards the lake before looking at her again, “Do you want to come down to the lake with me?” he asked timidly, as if he was afraid Maggie would reject him. A goofy grin fought its way onto her face as she stared at the boy, who elaborated on his question, his deep brown eyes flitting all over the place.
“Yeah!” she exclaimed, wincing once she realized how over-excited and eager she sounded. She coughed, feeling her face grow a little hot, as she sent an apologetic glance towards the boy. She looked over to her cabin-mates, who were all grinning at her widely, and Tatiana was giving her two thumbs ups. Maggie blushed once again, and, slipping her hand into Oliver’s, which, even for her, was a bold move that mad her stomach twist, she pulled him down towards the shore of the Great Lake, sitting down in the sand and dipping her toes into the water. She glanced up at Oliver, who was still standing, and patted the sand next to her.
“I don’t bite, y’know.” she joked, a smile dancing across her face. She turned to Oliver, who was now sitting down next to her.
“I want to show you something.” she began, situating herself so she was facing the boy. She grabbed a chunk of her hair, bringing it out in front of her face.
“Now, I only figured this out a few days ago, but...” she trailed off, focusing on the chunk of hair. She thought of a color: yellow. She chose the color because the boy sitting across from her reminded her of it, in most ways, at least. A wide grin spread across her features as her hair began to turn a golden yellow-y color, one that matched Oliver’s hair almost exactly.
“Can you believe it?” she exclaimed, laughing lightly. “I didn’t know what was wrong with me until I read about metamorphaguses in my D.A.D.A book, and I ended up asking around...” she looked to oliver expectantly, hoping he’d like it. She’d told a few, but she was ecstatic to show Oliver her newfound abilities.

While Jay was fully expecting the girls to reply by telling him their names, seeing as that had been his question, he was soon to be disappointed in that assumption.
"Shut up!" Said one of the girls, a brunette.
Profoundly shocked and entirely confused by the rather sudden outburst, Jay's mouth opened and closed soundlessly a number of times, quite possibly giving him the appearance of a fish who had been ungraciously yanked from the water. As he was speaking, he had been completely unaware of the fact that his mouth had run away with itself again, but in that second, his brain scanned the memory of the last minute in an attempt to identify what part of his introduction had rubbed the girl the wrong way.
Before he had any time to come up with an answer, however, she turned rather pale and launched into a stumbling apology.
"I'm sorry I swear I was talking in my head, er."
Jay pondered on those words for a moment.
Talking in her head? he thought. Well, I suppose I'd know a bit about that, now wouldn't I? Although, generally when I talk in my head, it stays in my head...
Of course, this was not entirely true. He had certainly been known to blurt things he didn't necessarily intend for human ears before, so he was surely not one to go thinking less of someone for allowing their brain to get ahead of them on occasion.
As he was about to voice something possibly along those lines, a new voice added itself to their thus far awkward gathering.
“Hey! Um, I know you were asking about Charlotte, the hurt girl, earlier, and I just wanted to let you know that she’s fine— er, well, she will be fine.”
Turning to look at the newcomer, Jay quickly realized that this new voice belonged to the same boy that he had seen tending to the injured girl not long before. The first thought that came to his mind was a question; why would he leave his destined true love so soon after he had rescued her?
He pushed the pesky thought aside as the boy continued, “I’m Carson. You guys new?”
Giving a nod, Jay replied, still terribly cheerful despite the odd beginning to this interaction, "My name's Jay, as I was just telling these lovely ladies, and yes, I am new. The coming school year will be my first. Glad to meet you, Carson!" He thrust his hand towards Carson in an effort to initiate a handshake, then turned his gaze back toward the girls.
"May I ask again for your names?" He said, adding his question to the one Carson had already stated.

Annie took a deep breath. She watched the boy, whose name she now knew was Jay, open and close his mouth a few times. He looked like he was going to reply before a boy barged into their conversation. “Hey! Um, I know you were asking about Charlotte, the hurt girl, earlier, and I just wanted to let you know that she’s fine— er, well, she will be fine.” Annie sighed, slightly out of relief and embarrassment for yet another person bursting in at an awkward time. The boy then introduced himself as Carson. "Ah, um thank you for notifying me, I hope Charlotte gets better." She suppressed a small, shy smile before hearing him ask a question. "Ehm well I'll be going into my second year here, I guess we just haven't run into each other during the first year, it was new, busy and exciting after all." Annie spoke before turning back to face Jay. Thankfully the atmosphere was less tense so she looked him in the eyes. "Look, I know I already apologized, but I am terribly sorry for lashing out at you, I guess I'm just truly terrible at meeting new people." Annie rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly, a small blush crept to her cheeks. She perked up at Jay's last question and made sure she was facing everyone. "Sorry for not mentioning this in the first place but my name is Annie Morgan and I'm a proud Hufflepuff!" Now regaining her confidence she flashed a big, warm smile to everyone, her social awkwardness instantly disappeared. "Anyone up for a swim? I've been standing here for ages and haven't even been in the water yet."
Don't worry Jay, I've been waiting for Rielle to respond but at this point I'm just trying to keep the thread moving and making sure I respond to everyone.

Carson scratched the back of his neck awkwardly as Annie offered up a swim. “Er— sorry, I’m gonna head back to Cha— my group.” he quickly corrected himself, feeling his cheeks heat up in embarrassment. “I was just checking in to let you know. Thanks for the offer, though.” he felt kind of bad leaving them, but he had to get back.
He glanced over towards his group, which consisted of the two cabins. He noticed Maggie grab Oliver’s hand and drag him down towards the lake, the rest of his friends chatting in the sand. He gave the three a cheeky salute, turning on his heel and walk-jogging back to the two cabins. He stopped in his tracks, however, realizing he’d been a bit rude not inviting them over.
“And, uh, if you guys wanna sit with us or something, go for it.” smiling at the small group of three, he turned back to walk over to his group, which sat a yard or two away from Jay, Annie, and Rielle.
Plopping down on a towel, Charlotte sitting to his right and Mac sitting to his left, he accidentally sprayed some sand onto Charlotte. He winced, looking to her apologetically.
“Sorry,” he said, though a little smirk tugged on the corners of his lips as she gave him a playful glare.
He looked over to the lake’s shore, where Maggie seemed to be showing Oliver her metamorphagus abilities. He’d marveled at them when she’s shown him, and he looked to the others as a question popped up into his mind.
“Has Maggie showed you guys her metamorphagus thing yet?” he asked, looking to the others in question. When she’d told him, she’d said it was fine if he talked about it, so he assumed it’d be fine.

Swimming in the Lake
From the moment she was pulled out of the water and put down to rest on the ground, everything happened rather hastily. Maggie and Carson wrapped each of her arms around their necks as they walked towards the castle, which unfortunately was a good distance away from the authorised swimming area of the lake. Because she was almost lifted off the ground, the way to the infirmary passed by rapidly and she found herself in a bed soon enough, her wounded foot already healed by the nurse. In moments like this, Charlotte couldn't feel more glad that magic existed and permitted such painful wounds to be healed in a heartbeat. Before she knew it she was up, the numbing pain in her foot having wholly vanished. A smile on her face, she assured the two friends was alright but found herself to be brought back to the lake the same way she had been helped to the infirmary.Interacting with @Carson Miller, open to interactions!
She often looked up to Carson, but frightened to be to obvious glanced around her regularly. They got back to the edge of the lake rapidly and she was helped down on a towel, facing the beautiful and glimmering lake. Carson left to go talk to a group of students not to far from them and Maggie left with Oliver to the lake, as Charlotte closed her eyes, feeling the warm sun hitting her skin. Carson soon came back, spraying a little sand on her before apologising shyly. Charlotte found that a little funny, and blushed a little when their eyes met.
“Has Maggie showed you guys her metamorphagus thing yet?”
Carson asked.
She shook her head, impatient to see her cousin show her her abilities. Charlotte was quite surprised and impressed, imaging how awesome it must be to be one. She had only heard rumours about them, and knew they were extremely rare. Glancing over to Maggie, she saw that she was indeed able to changer appearance at will, her eyes wide with admiration. The lake seemed more inviting than ever, and her eyes darted between Carson and its glass-like surface before she took a deep breath, feeling her heart beat fast.
'Um -- Carson? Do you-- Would you want to come swim with me a little? My foot... It doesn't hurt anymore.'
she said with a shy smile, looking down at the grass, hoping he'd agree.

Swimming in the Lake
interacting with @Maggie Parker
oliver was greeted with a wide beaming grin from the brunette, her blue eyes peering through chestnut eyelashes, looking up at the slightly taller blond boy. she replied in agreement, very eagerly, which oliver smiled to in response. the two began wandering down toward the shoreline, but not before oliver felt her soft hand slip into his, interlocking fingers. oliver gawked at the brunette for a few moments, his cheeks set on fire. his gaze finally looked towads the shoreline, nearly stumbling on the ground beneath him.
maggie sat herself on the sand, looking up at oliver, the light seemed to reflect off the water, making maggie's eyes glimmer just a little more. she patted the sand, and oliver sat, looking towards the shore, in an attempt to get his bearings.
"i don't bite, y'know." she joked, oliver met her smile. "i want to show you something."
oliver twisted himself around, sitting cross-legged toward maggie. he looked at her, a little eagerness and curiousness in his face. the girl scrunched a small length of her hair, holding it out in front of oliver, which in response, made the blond raise an eyebrow.
"now, i only figured this out a few days ago, but..." oliver's eyes widened, a smile spreading across his face. the bunch of brunette hair began lightening between maggie's fingertips. the golden-blonde streaking through each lock swiftly. maggie elaborated on this ability a bit, that she'd only found out about this ability recently.
"that's incredible," he said, eyes still examining the hair within her hands. he looked back at her face, her soft features seemed to develop in the sunlight, the lapping water on the shore reflecting on the side of her face, her grin shining through it. oliver ducked his head, smile still there, if only to get his bearings, and his brown eyes greeted hers.
"you never cease to amaze me, parker" he said, a little humor in his tone, but partly true. maggie seemed to be the only girl in hogwarts, in-fact, in the world, that kept surprising oliver. each day seemed to go by and every time he'd see her face she seemed to get prettier and prettier. it was strange.
as if clockwork, each time oliver would meet her eyes, he'd feel as if he was sinking into the ground beneath him. after a few moments, oliver twisted himself around, quickly throwing his shoes off and to the side behind them, he looked at maggie with a cheeky smile on his face as he rolled up his trousers.
"you joining me, parker?" and with that he stood up, the water lapping on his ankles as he got further and further outward. he placed his hands on the surface of the water, turning his head and giving maggie a sideways smile. he knew he looked like a dork. but what maggie didn't know was what was coming, he brought his hand up quickly, splashing water toward her, with a cheeky laugh.
"have to keep you on your toes, don't i?" he grinned, flicking his wet hand off to the side.

@Oliver Lock
“You never cease to amaze me, Parker.” Oliver said, humor lacing his tone. Maggie grinned up at him, dropping her hair as it immediately faded back to its original color. Her cheeks, however, didn’t fail to once again turn a bright shade of pink, and she rolled her eyes at the boy, scoffing incredulously. Before she could reply, however, Oliver suddenly turned back around, slipping off his shoes and standing up once again. He rolled up his trousers, wading into the water slightly.
Maggie watched him for a moment, a smile on her face. The sun was beginning to lower in the sky slightly, making the lake dance with glittery patches of white. Oliver’s hair was golden in the sunlight, and he looked, if anything, boyish as he waded into the lake. It was a look Maggie found endearing, one that made her heart melt and her insides warm.
“You joining me, Parker?” he asked, calling her over from where he stood a few feet away. A goofy grin spread across his face as he flicked water at her, the droplets landing only inches away from her feet. “Have to keep you on your toes, don’t I?” Maggie sent him a playful glare, mimicking his earlier actions and kicking her sandals off into the sand.
“Bold move from someone not wearing a swimsuit.” she called, laughing as she did so. She pulled her shirt off, stepping into the lake and after Oliver. Her red one-piece was still slightly damp from earlier that day, but her hair had dried off half an hour ago. She reached Oliver after a few large steps that caused excess amounts of water to splash all over her.
“You,” she began, tilting her chin up slightly so she could look Oliver, who towered over her, in the eyes. “have just made a very bad decision Mr. Lock.” humor laced her tone as she tried to keep her face as serious as possible. Her face was only inches away from his, and she took a step back, her fingertips skimming the surface of the lake. Without a second thought, she flicked her wrist, sending a spray of water in Oliver’s direction.

a warm feeling swells inside olivers chest. the sight of maggie with a lively gleam in her eyes only fueling the feeling. she bunched up her shirt and tossed it to one side. oliver raised his eyebrows and grinned at her determined expression. she took a few broad steps, sending the water to lap against the bottom of oliver's knees.
“You,” maggie said, as she stood under oliver's gaze, tilting her head so their eyes met. “have just made a very bad decision Mr. Lock.” oliver stood over her, raising his eyebrows and giving her a cheeky smile, as if to say have i?
maggie's face would break a little every so often, revealing a little smile, causing oliver to let out a little chuckle, a beaming smile looking down at her.
oliver leaned forward a little, emphasizing the, only inches, of space between them.
maggie broke the closeness between them as she took a step back, her hand surfacing on the water.
oliver then quickly had a splash of water in his face. he wiped a hand down his face, his eyes focusing on a grinning maggie.
"now you've gone and done it, miss parker." amusement simmering in his stare. and with that, oliver quickly skimmed his fingertips through the water, water droplets flying toward maggie.
the lake was rather quiet, besides the splashing water and laughter that filled the air around them. the sun crawled toward evening, resulting in a bright pinky-purple color reflecting against the water, shining onto the two's skin. oliver's white t-shirt and rolled up black jeans getting damper and damper as they exchanged larger and larger splashes of water. the brunette's hair swaying in the playful splashing, her skin dosed in the dissipating sunlight.
after a few more moments, oliver looks down at himself, every inch of his clothing damply sticking to him. he raises his hands up, "alright parker, i admit defeat." he grins. he wades through the shining water, toward her.
the lanky blond, now stood towering above her, beamed down at her. his chest rising and falling quite quickly, after the amount of playing he'd just endured. a few strands of hair was sticking close to her face, which oliver was very tempted to smooth away.
"pretty hungry after that," he said, kneading the back of his neck. he turned around, gesturing toward where the BBQ was, and back toward maggie. he grinned, "subtle, aren't i?"
he offered his arm out toward her, "care to join me, miss parker?" he said, his playfulness lacing between his words.

Swimming in the Lake
Jay listened with interest as the brunette girl stated herself to be a second year member of Hufflepuff- no, a proud Hufflepuff. The mention of her house sparked a bit of curiosity inside of him as to which house he might be sorted into. Seeing as the school year had not begun, the new students were still unaware of which house they were to be sorted into, and would be left to wonder and, in some cases, worry about that question for the remainder of summer vacation.Interactions
@Annie Morgan and @Carson Miller
Jay's father had been a member of the Hufflepuff house, he knew, and his mother a Ravenclaw. He supposed he would most likely be placed into one of the two, but had never been too concerned about agonizing over the possibilities.
Presently, the self-proclaimed Hufflepuff in front of him apologized once again for her outburst and finally disclosed her name as Annie Morgan.
Reaching out now to shake her hand as well, he responded, "No worries, Annie. Believe me, I'm one who understands situations where your mind takes over a bit without your realization. In fact, people tend to think I'm rather odd where I come from."
"Anyone up for a swim? I've been standing here for ages and haven't even been in the water yet."
At the mention of going for a swim, Carson quickly excused himself and turned to head back to his own group, though he didn't get far before he turned back towards them and invited them to join him if they so wished. Jay simply nodded and waved farewell, watching as Carson rejoined his fair maiden, accidentally spraying a bit of sand onto her in the process. Jay grinned again as he watched the two of them together for a moment; there certainly seemed to be something special there.
I knew it, he thought triumphantly. Lucky guy, anyway. Though, as he thought it, Jay had the distinct realization that he was quite a lucky fellow himself, considering the company he was currently sharing.
Turning back to Annie, he glanced at the water behind her and nodded.
"Good thing I came prepared," he said in reply to her question on going for a swim. While he was warm, he was still not particularly hot in this weather, but he thought it sounded like fun to go for a swim anyway.
He pulled off his tank-top and began striding towards the water, expecting Annie to join him.
"So what are we waiting for?"
