Elena sounded amused at the notion, "Blood purity is bullshit, simply put, genetics is against families intermarrying like that. Besides, blood purity killed my parents, well, someone in my family killed my parents for going against it. So I don't have the best like of the idiotic concept."

Elena skimmed the message, humming, then she simply put it on the ground as if it was a particularly interesting rock, "Here, let me show you something."

The blue haired girl drew a sigil in long sweeping motions, then held it up, "This, for lack of a better description of what I can call it. Is a sign from my street kid days, originally it functioned as a way to tell people if the police had already patrolled a certain area. After a little bit though, it was used in a different way. This is the sigil known as 'Fuck The Rules, I Am Free'. Usually you draw it on your arm, but I didn't know if you'd want it there."

She held out the page, "May it give you the courage to be the first, and likely only, to stand up for truth and love and most of all, freedom."

Not to mention Elena'd be helping her with that, in her own special way.

Astrea admitted quietly, frowning in annoyance at the stubbornness over the matter. The Slytherin younger listened carefully to Elena's explanation of the significance of the sigil she had drawn, something tight and doubtful pooling in her gut distantly as she reached out to grasp the offered paper.

"I-" She cut herself off, her tongue flicking out slightly to moisten full lips as her eyes glanced down toward the paper briefly. Astrea's posture suddenly stiffened as she cleared her throat, expression turning into a blank slate perhaps another time too many for the sheer length of the conversation. "Thank you. Thank you very much for the talk- and advice. I am grateful but-" Tightening the loosened beige plaid-printed tie that hung around her neck, it was clear that the walls that she had let down for the conversation and her studying were pulled up once more in that short instance. "I need to go."

With the fluidity mastered after years of grace lessons, she picked up her quill and inkpot before balancing them upon the heavy leather-bound morse textbook she sidled upon her right arm and picked up her neglected letter in her left hand with careful movements. Pushing herself to her feet, she spared a glance down at Elena, appearance carefully kept blank even as her dark eyes ran wild with pondering thoughts.

"Have a nice day, Elena." And then she striding away, head held higher than she had carried herself when she first found the tall ash tree when seeking to study and shoulders tightened with the conflict of learned posture and confused ideas.

Something unfamiliar curled itself upon the young heir's thoughts, metaphorical smoke thick with something that perhaps should have alerted her of the utter disgrace she was doing by the name of her family's line. A seed of doubt. A pondering of futures.

As she fleed with forced calm, it was apparent that the paper Elena had drawn upon had not been dropped or discarded in her tracks. She had taken it.

Elena got the distinct feeling that she'd other fucked up her talk with Astrea or she'd somehow done exactly the right thing and this was the end result.

"Have a lovely day Astrea, I hope you have good luck." Elena's easy smile and joking nature reinstated themselves as she leaned back against the tree and tossed some more seed to the crow, which hopped a little closer out of curiosity.
