2024/25, Stage 1 Gryffindor V Hufflepuff: Match 6

Round 6

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

Prat was no longer sure how the duel might proceed from here on out, violet was already out in the previous round, leaving badgers a man (woman??) down then they might have hoped for something better. Adding fuel to fire was the sudden loss of his battle awareness by their other duellist Nico Romano. He seemed as if he was a million seas away from the piste. Blanked out and unaware for the third time in the game. Emily shephard however did not let that bring down her spirits as the young badger did all in her capabilities to try and attack one of the Lions, Theo Vendeberg with all the focus she could muster in her situation. Prat would've probably done worse than her had it been him. With some great skill she was able to successfully cast a flipendo as she aimed it at the Lion. Lady luck however wasn't in her camp for this one spell however. Right as it should've hit him, Theo managed to dodge the flipendo and save himself from being thrown off.

The Gryffs on the other hand decided to leave Nico to his own thoughts as the trio attacked Emily. Theo with his Flipendo and Sere Nade with her Incendio duo. It was quite the sight to see, not the very capable aim and spell casting of the Lions but rather the smooth water like evasion Emily carried out on the Piste. The Pristine dodges would have a witness believe luck was on Emily's side. Atleast until she lost sight of it and ran headfirst into Siobhan's Obscuro, earning herself a blindfold in the process.

With Nico's head still in the clouds, Emily had to keep on her toes, especially now that since all three of the opposing members decided to go for her.

Lucky Emily.

But no, really! Emily felt a small smile prick at her face when their spells missed. Slippery as an eel, she manages to evade them.

However it didn't last long when Emily's vision was suddenly blacked out by a blindfold, and even her own spell didn't work.

She frantically called out to Nico.

"Nico! Wake up! Please, do something!"

Oh boy. If this was a sign of things to come then Emily might not last another round.

Not bad. At least another Obscuro managed to obscure the Badgers' vision, although Sere had to regret about her Incendio Duo that was excellently dodged by the opponent. Her performance has to be better in the next round. Sere looked at her two teammates, standing strong, hoping that everything would stay like this until the final round.

"Alright, let's do this." The girl raised her wand, already deciding on her action for the next round.

Theo grinned as he watched the outcome of the most recent spell exchange. It had not mattered that most of the Gryffindor's offensive spells had missed. Across the Arena, one Hufflepuff looked frozen in shock, unable to cast while the other had a tight blindfold wrapped around their head. Now was the time for the lions to get ahead. Filled with confidence, the boy let out a cocky taunt. "If I were you, I'd just leave it on." He said referring to Emily's blindfold.

Siobhan smirked slightly but quickly wiped it off her face. She couldn’t help it that Theo had said something funny in return to Emily’s reaction to her new blindfold.

She felt confident that they were going to do well in this duel, especially since her head was back squarely on her shoulders and her imagination no longer ran amok with “what ifs” and “what woulds”

Siobhan looked proudly at her teammates as they were seemingly more put together now than they had been earlier.

Round 7

Saturday 26 October, 2024...

Prat was now getting concerned over Nico's actions. The lad was seemingly unscathed throughout the whole duel and yet, he was out of it for most of the time. Was he even present anymore in the duel or did he seemingly get a concussion Prat did not notice?. Shaking off those thoughts Prat instead focused on the ongoing duel where the Gryffindor team looked like they were fully ready to win it all this round. With the three of them back in the game, all of them chose Emily as their target. Emily, who had been dodging so nimbly the previous round but was caught under the effects of Obscuro.

Emily with a blindfold over her eyes was met with two flipendos from Sere Nade and Theo. Each one throwing her back away as she was sent flying. With two flipendos already stacked against her, Prat thought it was a miracle how Emily somehow managed to dodge Siobhan's flipendo. The instincts on the duellist were crazy, or perhaps the aim of Sio was just lacking this round. Prat wouldn't know either way. Managing to pick herself back up, Emily managed to take off her blindfold, now her eyes finally back open to the duel.

Sere had seen this kind of scene before. What happened to Emily right now reminded her of a lioness @Raizel Voltrouz who was her teammate during her first official duel, where she had to be teamed up with someone stood still all over the rounds and Sere herself was knocked out earlier so that she couldn't help much. Sere sighed and shook her head. Why would that kind of students want to be the duellist in the first place? If they just wanted to spectate the match, they should do it from aside the piste.

Although she was starting to sympathize with the Badgers, Sere still had to stand along her teammates and finish this match. When the next round began, her state of mind was back on winning.

Emily wrestled to get the blindfold off after being sent flying across the field twice by an onslaught of Flipendos. Pretty safe to say Lady Luck decided to say "sod it" and left the arena.

Emily managed to miss the third attack in her blindvision, though just barely, and was reeling at how oblivious Nico seemed to be throughout this whole ordeal.

Screw it, she thought. She was on her own now and she knew it.

With the blindfold ripped off and her vision restored, she retook her fighting stance. Winning was as achievable as carrying water in a newspaper.

Better go down as a fighting competitor than flip out as a space cadet instead.

Theo seemed to have lost his grin. No longer was he finding fun in the match. He did not particularly want to see Emily beaten down over and over until she was on the edge of consciousness. "You eh... You can concede you know." He said, not as a taunt but in genuine concern for her safety. He looked over at his teammates with a shrug, sighed deeply and then readied his next spell.

Siobhan was annoyed. That was what the second or third spell to miss? She groaned inwardly, trying not to let her outward features betray the feelings inside. It would only fuel the fire of the other team- which at the moment seemed to just be the one badger. She could hear the silent frustration pouring off Sere and the outward jibe made by Theo to Emily who had only just pulled her blindfold off.

Ah well- It was just a duel- It wasn’t like anything really hung in the balance of the outcome.
