Antidotes and small talk
Private RP with @Noah Page
Well, that was it. The day had finally come and in only a few moments Charlotte would have to hand in her roll of parchment, the one she had work so hard on for the last couple of days. She walked down the stairs, her bag swinging from side to side in a monotone manner, her hand holding her homework tight, but not enough to make a single crease in it. She had always hated the dungeons and the eerie feeling that seemed to float around in the atmosphere, probably also caused by the stories she had heard about a certain blood-thirsty snake.
The sound of her shoes echoed in the dim-lit corridor as she made her way towards the Potion's classroom. With the tip of her fingers she pushed the heavy door only to find herself in an empty room. She glanced at her watch, realising she still had a couple of minutes until the lesson started and walked to an empty desk in the front row.
A few minutes passed by and the professor and all the students had arrived, in small groups of five or four. She looked at them, thinking she had recognised a Slytherin boy but rapidly redirected her attention to the black board on which the professor had written the lesson, accompanied by a few instructions. Taking her quill and ink out of her bag, closely followed by her notebook and manual, she wrote the title in neat, small letters.
Antidote to Common Poisons
The lesson portion of class was rather quick and soon the professor instructed the students to pair up, they were going to brew the Antidote he had precisely explained. Charlotte looked around and saw the majority of the students had found their partner, spotting a familiar looking boy near the back of the class. Taking her bag with her, her book in hand, she sat next to him before asking him shyly.
'Hi, uh -- Noah, right? Do you mind if we pair up?'

Noah was not at all excited about the second Potions lecture. He had a weird feeling that he should have worked harder on his Potions homework, not that he didn't feel like that on any homework he ever did but he was sure it was different this time. He had no idea how he could make it better, he only hoped it was good enough.
He walked to the dungeons, not entirely too excited but filled with determination, he wanted to try his best. He entered the class, he wasn't late but the class was probably going to start soon, it was sort of filled.
He scanned the classroom, yep, no one had taken his favourite spot, the last bench. Noah wasn't a troublemaker but the last bench was always his territory. He took the backpack off his shoulder and sat down on the bench, soon enough, the class started.
He found himself understanding most of what the professor said, again, the theory wasn't a huge problem, it was the practicals he was worried about. Though, sometime later the professor said he needed the students to pair up.
Noah was rather confused and somewhat terrified.
He didn't know people had to pair up in class, he didn't like working with others much. If this was standard, it would be a major problem for him, besides he didn't even know anyone, how was he going to find a partner to work with anyw-

Noah looked up to find himself staring at a girl he recognized, he knew who she was, it was the girl from the library, he was good at remembering people, he wasn't good at remembering names, however.
"No, I don't really have a partner, so it's alright." He said, looking back down at his notebook, wasn't her name something like Charlie? He honestly couldn't remember, he'd ask her later... But he didn't even have to right? It wasn't really important. He shoved the thought process away, he had to study.

"No, I don't really have a partner, so it's alright."
the boy said, glancing at his notebook.
A small smile spread across Charlotte's face as she took out her scales and went to the back to fetch her cauldron. Something about Noah was rather... odd. Although he seemed nice, there was no way of telling how he felt or what he was thinking, and she just found herself talking to someone that could have disliked her, but she had no way of telling. She just smiled and acted as if everything was alright as she measured out the amount of ingredients.
'So, um -- how do you think you did on your homework?'
she asked discreetly, looking up to him.
Sure, this wasn't the best conversation starter but Noah didn't seem much of the talkative kind and Charlotte didn't want to annoy him too much. Perhaps she would get to know him, get him to be a little more at ease around her and even be friends? You could say it was the fact she was a Hufflepuff, but she truly intended on having and mostly maintaining good relationships with everyone she knew. Did he even know her name? She didn't know but since he had recognised her, she guessed he indeed knew.
Although she felt fairly confident about the potion they were to brew, she knew that she would have to try and make this a group effort. She was used to doing anything on her own, enabling her to have complete control over the situation at all times, able to only hate herself if something went wrong but unfortunately in this class, they were to pair up to do the work. She cleared her throat and read aloud the instructions as she followed every word with the tip of her finger.
That seemed rather easy, and she was sure their potion was going to be a success.1 - Add 1 Bezoar to the mortar
2 - Crush into a very fine powder using the pestle
3 - Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron
4 - Add 2 measures of Standard Ingredient to your cauldron
'Noah, maybe you could measure out the Standard Ingredient while I take care of the Bezoar?'
she asked, pointing at the glass bottle full of a mixture of various herbs.
She then took the said Bezoar and dropped it into the mortar, beginning to crush it cautiously before checking in on Noah.

Noah got everything ready on his desk, he was hoping to be good at the first practical potions lesson at least, there weren't that many steps for the point they were going to make anyway.
'So, um -- how do you think you did on your homework?'
Noah frowned a bit, he still wasn't sure his homework was good enough, "I have no idea, I think it could have been but I cannot be sure, I did try my best on it." He had spent as much time on it as he could've thought he didn't correctly recheck it because he was tired and that was his only concern, but it couldn't be too bad, right? Well, it sure would be a pity if it was.
Well hopefully she wouldn't have him to the stuff that would require more precision, his hands were rather shaky and not good for working with precision.
'Noah, maybe you could measure out the Standard Ingredient while I take care of the Bezoar?'
Okay, that might not be what he would have done if it really came down to him to decide but it wasn't a big issue, he needed to practise anyway. He nodded and took the Standard Ingredient.
It wasn't really anything too difficult to manage, it would have been an issue if it was some powder but this would be much easier to work with, paying close attention and trying his best not to make a mistake, he carefully measured two portions of the standard ingredient and kept them ready for when they had to be added into the potion.
That wasn't all that difficult but Noah wasn't really going to get happy because, this wasn't even supposed to be difficult so of course, it was easy. He simply waited for the girl to be done with her part as he watched her work, she wasn't doing anything too difficult either.

✧✧Crushing the bezoar really was much harder than she had anticipated and she could feel her arms getting slowly but surely a little sore. She finished off eagerly before turning to Noah, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear cracking her fingers. Noah looked like he was fairly confident about what he was doing. Or was he? She couldn't really tell but she hoped he was. She thanked him and took the herbs before pouring them into the cauldron and heating it up for just a handful of seconds, waved her wand and sat back on her stool.
'Well, we just have to wait-'
she looked over to her open book, before glancing at her watch.
'Exactly 39 minutes now...'
she mumbled and sighed.
But little did she know, those few minutes weren't going to go exactly according to plan. Well, they weren't going to go according to plan at all. Just a few seconds went by before the first rather suspicious bubbles started to erupt from the thick mixture in the cauldron. Charlotte bent over to have a closer look then turned to face Noah with a rather concerned expression on her face.
'Noah... Are you sure you put the right amount of herbs in there? Its starting to bubble quite dramatically in th-'
Just as she was about to finish her sentence, a bubble exploded, sending spots of the potion everywhere around them. Charlotte jumped out of the way just in time and watched as some of the greenish mixture landed on one of the glass pots that glimmered in the candlelight. The slimy mixture dripped all the way to the floor as Charlotte waved her wand and took the potion of the heat.
'It-It's alright... We're just going to start again. Don't worry really'
she said calmly before turning to him and smiling warmly, trying not to laugh at the weird potion dripping everywhere around them.
'Scourgify'
she whispered under her breath, waving her wand at the pots.

Noah was waiting for her to be done and by each passing second, he could feel himself getting more anxious, what if his measurements were incorrect? Maybe he should've rechecked? But he was sure it was correct... He let those thoughts slide for now, he couldn't let it scare him, he couldn't mess something this simple up.
She took the herbs and put it into the potion, thanking him and telling him that they had to wait. He sat down, not taking his eyes off the Potion. It seemed to be alright so far... or not. Bubbles had started to erupt from the surface of the Potion and Noah was petrified, he had messed the measurements up.
He stared in horror at the Potion, as a rather large bubble burst open, spitting Potion out of the cauldron. Noah quickly ducked, still feeling terrible about having messed it up.
He got up, not looking up or at Charlotte. He just saw her taking the Potion off the heat and wished he wasn't that clumsy, his face had turned into a shade of scarlet, he was trying not to show it but it was difficult to hide how embarrassed he felt.
"It-It's alright... We're just going to start again. Don't worry really"
He stared at his feet and nodded slowly. They could do it again, and this time he could double-check the potion to make sure it didn't go wrong... but what if it did? He wished he could have sunk through the floor and wouldn't have to be in the Potions room again. The simplest Potion and he couldn't even get that right, even with someone else's help.
