Roleplaying as approved iNPC Irina Liliya Zvereva
Ah hah. Summer wasn’t doing so good. Irina tried to calm herself. She grabbed a water balloon. And she threw. Who her target was, oh dear, she didn’t know. She just knew that the girl was on the winter side, and that she wasn’t going to help them win. Her throw was a good one, although not as precise in timing as it should have been. Because that girl caught the ballon sending it over to a little girl on their side. Who got hit. By TWO balloons at once? How did they even manage to do that? And not dodge either balloon?
Her only thought was that the girl wouldn’t have been a good duellist. Two spells at once sometimes meant unconsciousness.
The winter girl though stumbled and some of her teammates made some good throws. A very old kid, was he a sixth year(?) got hit, and so did another girl, the other one to target not-good-duellist girl. Oof, keeping track of everything in here was exhausting. And yet another summer kid got hit, but she wasn’t doing much, to be honest. Still, they were low in players, something awful. Less options for people. What could they do though? Just try to survive, be the last man (or woman, for that matter) standing.
Irina was back strategising. That was the only way she could ever reach the desired outcome, win.
Action: As strategised

Battle of the Seasons
Round 4 results
July 24th, 2024Round four managed to calm down more than the previous rounds which sent people out every few minutes. Snowballs and water balloons were thrown, but they players must have been getting tired, because most of them missed.
"Come on, everyone! Get your heads in the game!"
Cass Ito started off the game by throwing a snowball at Irina. Unfortunately for Cass, they missed. Septimus and Irina retaliated by chucking a balloon at Cass, hitting them squarely and setting them out.
There went Rose, sending a water balloon at Acacia. She was able to prove herself after missing the last few rounds, by hitting Acacia. Thankfully for Acacia, just before getting hit, she threw one last snowball at Aurélie, which ended up missing.
"Sorry, Cass and Acacia, you're out! Join the spectators!"

Rules:
1. All ic and ooc rules apply to this event, and all posts must be at least 200 words.
2. The deadline to post is 14 days (336 hours) after the most recent moderation post.
3. All actions must be owled to your respective team's moderator (@Sage Willows for Team Winter and @Rebecca Lark for Team Summer) by the deadline. Your action should be stated clearly, such as "throwing a water balloon from behind a sand dune". Actions may be submitted individually, in small groups, or as a whole team. Please refer to the "Game Mechanics" reducio below for available actions.
4. All stats and abilities MUST be listed in every single post. For iNPC players, a link to your iNPC's ency must also be included.
5. The game operates similar to dodgeball: if you are hit with a snowball or water balloon (i.e., you fail your accuracy vs. evasion roll) you are out of the game, and the goal of the game is to eliminate the opposing team and be the last team standing. A spectator thread will be posted, and players that have been knocked out of the game are welcome to join the spectators for the remainder of the event.
6. Working together as a team and strategizing is encouraged but in no way required. Collaborating with your team is NOT cheating.
7. At any time during your post, you may take a "free action" to duck behind a dune and in character strategize and relay information to your team. Unless you are taking the Throw Projectile action, however, you MUST step out from behind the dune by the conclusion of your post.
8. Any player who misses 2 posts will be considered out of the game. In character, your character suffers "heat/cold sickness" and is sent to the nurse. For any and all questions, please owl @Rebecca Lark or @Sage Willows.Game Mechanics:
Reducio1. Throw projectile (water balloons/snowballs): basic accuracy vs. evasion. If accuracy roll is higher than opponents evasion roll, and no counter-action was taken, the projectile hits, and the opponent is out of the game.
- Bonus action - Trench Warfare: When a player is performing the Throw Projectile action, they may opt to duck down behind a sand dune or snow dune, depending on their team, and take their action from there. Throwing a projectile from behind a dune results in a -3 to accuracy, but a plus +4 to evasion.
ReducioOn an accuracy critical failure, t!choose will be used to select one of the following outcomes: a) you manage to hit yourself, and are out of the game; b) you manage to hit one of the referees, and are out of the game (and we're probably mad at you ic); c) you accidently target a random teammate, and an accuracy vs. evasion roll against them will be performed. If another crit fail is rolled for accuracy in this check, it will be disregarded, and no new target will be assigned.
On an evasion critical failure, a random team member will be knocked into, and a contested strength roll will be performed. If the team member fails the strength roll, they will be knocked prone, and suffer a -5 to evasion in the following round. They may get up as a free action.
2. Catch: If a player believes that they will be targeted, they can opt to try and catch the projectile thrown at them, giving them a +5 to evasion. The roll will still be accuracy vs evasion. If the catching party's evasion is higher than the throwing party's accuracy, then the projectile is caught. The catching party will them throw the caught projectile at a target, rolling with disadvantage. If a priority target is not specified in the player's submitted action, a random enemy target will be selected.
3. Fastball: Player makes a DC 15 strength roll. If successful, they gain a +5 to accuracy. If unsuccessful, the player suffers a -2 to accuracy. After the outcome of the strength check, the "throwing projectile" accuracy vs. evasion roll will be performed with the appropriate modifiers. Players performing the fastball action will always suffer a -2 to evasion, unless they roll a critical success.
4. Cast spell (FOUL): Standard duelling rules apply to all spells, and only spells from the duelling playbook may be used. If you are caught casting a spell, this is considered a foul, and you are automatically ejected from the game. In addition to the standard duelling rules required by each individual spell, a DC 15 wisdom roll must be passed in order to avoid being caught. Foulplay may be used. Any spell that lasts for more than one round (such as Metelojinx) will require an additional wisdom roll each round. The wisdom DC will increase +2 each round. **Only non-damaging spells are permitted in Battle of the Seasons. If you submit a damaging spell as your action, we will ask you to change it. Otherwise, your action is null and void.**
5. Bodyblock: A player may choose to step in and sacrifice themself for another player that they suspect will be targeted. The player will make a DC 12 strength roll to see if they can successfully push the player they are defending out of the line of fire. If successful, they automatically become the target of the attack, and will roll evasion at -2 AND disadvantage.

the 'fit: cyrus is wearing a black hoodie, black slacks and wizard crocs. he has a pair of sunglasses perched on his forehead.

It wasn't fun to stand there helplessly and watch his teammates go down. He was surprised no one had aimed for him, actually. He was pretty tall, and given his outfit of all black, he definitely did not blend in with his surroundings. He glanced down at his crocs, which were now wet from the snow. They would squeak when he next moved: he had to ready himself for that future discomfort.
He wished it were allowed for him to throw more than one snowball. He could spread spells in duels, so why couldn't he just toss snowballs willy-nilly here? He could be like that baseball pitching machine that he'd used a few times as a kid. He certainly thought he had it in him to be the best snowball pitcher in the universe. He shifted his feet and cringed when he heard the loud squeak of his crocs. Ugh. Maybe that, at least, had been a bad idea.

• Wand owner receives +2 Accuracy on spells
• After a successful Wisdom Check and potential Auto-Fail Checks, an additional d20 is rolled. If the result is 19 or 20, a random Duelling spell is selected from the caster's Trunk. This spell will target the same player who the caster was aiming at with their first spell (even if either of the two are spells that do not require Acc/Eva rolls).
• The second spell is an auto-success (does not require a Wisdom or Auto-Fail Check), but will have to go through the Targeting and Accuracy phase independent of the first spell.
• In case the caster is affected by Alluring, the second spell is also redirected towards the new target.
• In case the first spell does not have a target (or more than one target), the second spell targets a random player apart from the caster (in addition to the original target, if applicable).
• If the caster uses Spell Spread, only the primary cast (not the spread) has the chance of an additional spell being cast.

Ok, so maybe he was starting to feel bad about getting all these first years out. But it wasn't his fault that they were on the opposing team and were so easy to hit! Especially since he still posed very little threat according to the fact that it was another round where no one chose to target him. But, maybe flying under the radar had a benefit. As such, he was still in the game. And that was the whole point. Especially since that very aggressive young child wouldn't let him leave.
Still, he couldn't help but admit he was having fun. As someone that grew up in Georgia, he was far from any snow. Though, his family would vacation somewhere with it occasionally. For once he felt like the childlike joy he suppressed to be incredibly cool, hot, and collected, was released in a small giggle behind the snow he hid behind. The running for more snowballs, aiming a shot, dodging. It was just- well, so fun. He normally abstained from any snowball fights that happened on the grounds of Ilvermorny, but maybe this time he would seek them out and join. As long as it seemed like he would come out winning, of course.Action || Wouldn't You Like to Know Owled

Team Summer
@EmmaLee LeDames @Eugenia Karageorgiadi @Rose Moon @Ophelia NorthwellTime meant nothing in this game any longer. It seemed to have all been taking place in slow motion, with time stretching out like a good taffy. Maybe he was suffering from heat stroke, but not likely for his California-self. No, it was because he had been thinking about EmmaLee and got distracted. That and he was still luxuriating in the warmth of all the toasty sand radiating heat around him. If this had been any kind of match that had more importance attached to it than simply having fun or gaining bragging rights over competitors, his concentration would have not been diverted by sand... nor, even, by the lovely EmmaLee.
Not much of anything really concerning happened in the last round, for his part anyway, but it did appear that their team was finally ahead of Team Winter, by two players it would seem. He'd happily take it. Still, he knew Team Winter’s powerhouse players were still alive and kicking behind their snow forts across the way, so it would serve no one on Team Summer to get cocky about their turn of good fortune. It had not been luck that had gotten them this slim edge they now held, but good strategy, so this was not the time to celebrate prematurely. Strategizing would be the key to continued success, so he got down to it.

She watched peripherally as members of her own team were targeted and those snowballs definitely flew past her. Each round was so fast as people dodged or caught the projectiles, then immediately moved to attack their own targets. Counting those still standing at the end of this round, EmmaLee was glad that Aurelie and Stephen were still in the game. She had not at all thought that she, at least, would last this long. Granted, she did think that Sara would last far longer, but maybe a, ah, bigger target was easier to hit. In a sea of tall, attractive students, he was still always a good head and shoulders above everyone else.
Mostly, she was glad Stephen was still in the game, if only to keep watching him do his thing from this close a range. Stephen's athleticism never failed to impress her, again, in a sea of rather athletic people, he also stuck out, and EmmaLee found it very endearing how he struck a perfect balance of "it's just a fun game" and "doing what he can to win".
....Not that anything about Stephen wasn't endearing, but y'know.

Battle of the Seasons
Final Results
July 24th, 2024A thinning crowd on both sides, leaving only Cyrus, Everett, and Ariam for Team Winter and Irina, Stephen, EmmaLee, Aurélie, and Rose for Team Summer. The lack of people would mean a soon end for the game.
Cyrus kicked it off by chucking a snowball in Stephen's direction! Instead of hitting the summer player, Stephen caught the snowball and redirected it to Everett. Unfortunately for Stephen and his Summer teammates, he missed.
"Sorry, Cyrus and Stephen, no such luck!"

Everett, having just escaped being hit and out of the Battle, threw a new snowball at Irina Zvereva, one of the younger representing members of Team Summer. Boom! Another member of Summer was taken out! Perhaps Irina had still been slightly woozy from being bumped into rather roughly last round.
"Yikes, looks like another loss for Summer! Sorry, Irina, you can join the others!" Sage called out.

With the rankings being Team Winter with only three members remaining and Team Summer with 4, Sage would nod over to Rebecca to prepare to call the match there. But, there just had to be one more loss for Team Winter. This time the Castelobruxo student, Ariam Vargas due to cold sickness, respectively.
Sage blew her whistle and shouted, "Ariam, hope you feel better soon!"
"Alright, Summer and Winter! We're going to end it here before anyone else has to hit the bench because of heat or cold sickness! Thank you all for joining us! With a remaining score of 2-4, Summer wins!"

Rules:
This event is over. Thank you all for your participation!
