The days were starting to become normal. Normal! Magic was real, dragons existed, Avis was in a castle, and the days were normal. She was even bored! Learning spells at a school for wizards and she was bored! She was just walking through the halls as if they were her own home. Her home with cold stone walls, but her home nonetheless.

She idly twirled her wand through her fingers as she walked through the halls. The abandoned bathrooms sat to the right. That was also a different from her home, abandoned bathrooms. She pushed open the door to find a girl with a cauldron, seemingly making a potion. Avis eyed her for a moment. This seemed a bit unordinary, and a little bit suspicious... She bit her lip, still twirling her wand. Something interesting was happening, and Avis had not idea what to do.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you are meant to be hiding in bathrooms making potions." She spoke with a light air of sarcasm, and a bit of arrogance. Not that she had a huge record of following rules. "At least if you're going to break a rule, you might as well do it in a way that prevents you from getting caught, not in a bathroom."

@Sabrina Lyons
Its sort of vague, but hopefully we can work with this...

15th November, 16.25 free time after classes
Sabrina was crouched down - too eager to be sitting - hunched over her cauldron, the ingredience precisely organized beside it. She was just about to add horned slugs when a foreign voice rang out through the small space.

"Merlin-" she gasped, clenching her hand and snapping it back to her chest, eyes flying up to see the source of the mysterious voice. It was a Ravenclaw girl, first year. Sabrina knew, recognizing her from their mutual classes. For a moment she just stared at her, wide-eyed, her heartbeat loud in her ears from the shock. After a few steadying blinks, an easy smile found it's way to her face.

"Merlin," she repeated breathlessly. Shaking her head as she rocked back on her heels, she stood up, pushing the heels of her palms into the small of her back, arching back into them to stretch, eyes fluttering shut, seeming a bit too unbothered for just being caught.

That was, of course, because that wasn't the case at all.

Straightening, Sabrina let her hands slide to settle on her hips, meeting the other girls eyes again, her smile not fading as she adressed her.
"Hi to you too, ya sneaky ghost," she greeted, her head tilting to aside, somewhat resembling a bird "actually, I will correct you as I am not doing anything against the rules. I checked beforehand" she stated, fighting the urge to stick her tongue out.

"If it had been against them, then we wouldn't be having this conversation at all," she added, slightly raising her chin, leaving no doubt in what she meant. She shouldn't boast about being able to break the rules without getting caught, she knows, but the girl's comment and the way she said it seriously injured her pride.

Avis snickered a bit as the girl jumped in surprise and gave her a small patronizing smile as the girl put her hands on her hips. Her grin widened as the girl smiled at her, and she tilted her head the same way as the girl to match her.

"actually, I will correct you as I am not doing anything against the rules. I checked beforehand"

Avis twisted her face into an expression of intense interest, as though she actually cared whether the girl was breaking the rules or not. "Makes perfect sense, thats why you were so surprised to be found out." Avis didn't actually think it was against the rules anymore, besides, the girl didn't seem like the type to break rules. But still, she wasn't one to turn away a bit of prodding.

Although the girl seemed to have a very different approach. "If it had been against them, then we wouldn't be having this conversation at all," Avis smirked a little bit, and she steepled her hands. "Oh really? You think you're an incredible rule breaker, then? You'd never get caught? I suppose you'd be willing to break any of the rules then?" She stepped towards the girl, looming above her, observing. She wrinkled her nose a bit at the sight of horned slugs. Potion-making was not Avis' favorite class. Or second favorite. Or third. It was all a bit off to her. She was much more of one to be casting spells.

The girl smiled, mimicking Sabrina's tilt of her head, making a seemingly ironic comment about her shocked reaction to the intrusion that occured. Mumbling under her breath, ("I wanna see you act all collected when someone sneaks up on you") her eyes flicker down to the girl's hands as she steeples them. Who does that?

She just crossed the short distance between them with a few quick steps - Sabrina noted that the dark haired girl stood taller than herself. Not by much, but still. That, combined with the way she has adressed her in an almost a mocking manner, honestly riled Sabrina up. No, not that - it intrigued her, in a challanging way. A way that made her smile widen. That feeling further emphasized with the girls next comment, causing Sabrina to look up again.

"Maybe I already had broken them all," she shrugs, her smile turning into more of a smirk, absentmidedly licking her lips before delivering her next line, "you certainly wouldn't know. You don't even seem to remember all of them."

With that, she slightly leaned forward. Noticing the other girls disgusted reaction to them, she bend her knees to place the horned slugs on the ground again, further away from her.

Avis held her ground as the girl closed the difference between the two. She was happy to see she was still taller, she was really tired of arguments where she had to look up at people. Or look at them uspide down. Both automatically put Avis at a disadvantage.

She tilted her head a bit more out of curiosity as the girls smile widened, claiming that maybe she had already broken all of them. Avis snickered. "If so, you'd be bragging about that, not that you may have." She ignored the girls smirk. But the jab at Avis' memory, that was frustrating. Unfortunatly, Avis did have a pretty terrible memory. Should couldn't even remember her birthday last year. But concepts, and things about school, those she could get. And rules, well, "Its like photography, you've got to learn the rules to know how to best break them. You don't seem to think I would be capable of breaking rules. I don't suppose you'd fancy a bit of a competition, huh?" School was boring, and Avis really needed something exciting, maybe this could be it.

She smiled a bit as the girl put down the snail, still disgusted, just a little bit less, plus a grateful it was no where near her.

This time, Sabrina actually sticked her tongue out as the other girl commented on her potentional bragging. Folding her hands on her chest she smiled again, not feeling even a wee bit childish for her prior action as the girl continued to speak.

Her photography comparison caught her attention, as it was actually one of the things her dad was just getting into right before she left for Hogwarts. He was especially interested in the modern muggle kind, showing Sabrina how to shoot them and the basic rules of it. All and all, she found the analogy to be quiete fitting.

"Never said you weren't," she replied, her eyes drifting to the blue streaks in the other girl's hair before meeting her eyes again. She found them really cool, actually. "Just pointed out that you aren't as knowledgeable in them as you'd maybe like to think," she snickered, the tip of her shoe lightly bumbing into the cauldron behind her, as if reminding the girl of the mistake she had made in said rules just a moment ago.

"Competetion you say," she mumbled, brows shooting up, clearly interested, "what competition?"

The soft bubbling of the substance in her cauldron has long stopped by now, indicating that it was too late to continue the brewing process. Sabrina will definitely sulk over the wasted ingrediences later, but right now, her focus was directed somewhere else, just the prospect of challenge so magnetifying to her that she almost felt its pull.

"Just pointed out that you aren't as knowledgeable in them as you'd maybe like to think." Well, the girl did sort of have a point. Not that Avis was going to let her know that. Instead, she folded her arms across her chest, looking at the girl curiously. It is a little-known fact that folding one's arms isn't actually a sign of defense, but rather of protection. Not that Avis knew that either.

The girl seemed highly interested in having a competition, and Avis smirked a bit. "What's your name?" She turned and began to lightly pace back and forth in front of the girl. "There's a book, in the library, that, well, I definitely didn't write." Avis smiled a bit. She had planned for the book to be a sort of diary, hidden in the library, but she had to admit, this was a much better use for it, even if she would have to come up with a new acrostic title. "I'm not sure what it's called yet, but it has something to do with handkerchiefs. Here's my challenge. In the book, at some point this week, you'll find a time and a place. We can switch off, and see how many rules we can break." She didn't allow any excitement to seep into her voice, forcing it to remain stubbornly monotone. "However, Avis ticked off on her fingers as she spoke "No hurting others, nothing that is terribly dangerous, and if we both agree, we can back out."

The girl was mimcking her again, her own arms folding across her chest. Whether that was intentional or not, Sabrina didn't know, but either way, she took great enjoyment in the small discovery. She offered the other girl her hand for a handshake.

"Sabrina, Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short," she introduced herself, shaking the other ravenclaw's hand before pulling it back and letting it fall to her side, eyes following the girl|s movement as she started to pace back and forth.

"So what you're saying is," she clicked her tongue, her head lolling to aside again,"that we take turns picking a rule we'd then have to break, together, letting the other know through.. a book on handkerchiefs," she chuckled, slightly bowing her head as she shook it, her eyes sliding shut for a moment.

Sabrina possesed a sense of righteousness. Of course she did. She wouldn't cheat in a game, and her cheeks flared up at just a prospect of injustice against another person, ready to go head to head in an instance. But when it came to mischief.. well, let's just say that she wasn't alergic to some harmless fun. Besides, who was she to turn down such a compelling oportunity?

"Since it's a competition, it ought to have a winner in the end," she points out, lazily rocking back and forth on her feet, her big smile showing her clear excitement, "so I say that the one challenging takes full responsibility over the planning. If we get caught and get detention, the challanger loses."

Saying that, she stills again, reaching her hand out for the second time, her brows raised and head held high, her eyes almost sparkling.

"Deal?"

Avis offered her hand to the girl-Sabrina, with barely the faintest trace of a smile on her face. She shook it firmly, before starting to pace.

She snickered a bit at Sabrina's emphasis on the book about handkerchiefs. That was the point of the book after all, that no one would want to read the boring thing, and she nodded her agreement. Sabrina mentioned that there ought to be a winner, to which Avis certainly agreed. It seemed reasonable, that the challenger would lose. After all, it was their job to plan it well enough to not be caught. "But if the challengee chickens out, they lose." She wasn't exactly sure if challengee was a word, but she supposed it would get the point across fine.

She shook Sabrina's hand firmly, offering the girl a nod and a small smile. She would test Sabrina's abilities, and she supposed Sabrina would test hers. "Deal" She turned to exit the room, before turning back. "I wouldn't recommend putting your name in the book, it is, after all, in the library." Her eyes fell to the cauldron behind the girl, the potion and brewing now seemingly forgotten. She didn't know much about portions, but she assumed that it would be quite difficult to continue, now that it lay flat. Avis shrugged, though, that was not her problem.
