The Snakewood tree

Kaya climbed and looked around before looking back down at Stephen. At his words about ghost she chuckled. You know it would be highly unlikely but wonderful. After thinking more, she decided she'd climb higher. And the view is awesome, although I'm still at the bottom of branches. She smiled as another idea came to her mind. If you want, you could climb here too. I can't say if you are going to find it great enough for you, but for me the feeling and the view are already definitely worthy. And yeah, I plan to climb higher.
As Kaya replied to questions and offered Stephen to climb up too, she took another moment of looking at the branches of the Snakewood tree. They were rather wide and had a nice smell coming from them. Kaya thought it would be hard for any branch to break if not impossible.
As she lifted her eyes to look around and take a moment to appreciate the view, Kaya couldn't stop feeling a joy from standing there. The weather was good and time was perfect for climbing here. Kaya thought she'd draw it later today, when she'll return to the room. Then her thoughts returned to Stephen. She wondered if he was going to climb too. Would it be easy for him? Would he find it interesting for him? Kaya didn't know as she didn't know almost anything about him.
After some seconds, Kaya started to search carefully for next branch to climb higher. Would she find something there? Kaya was certain that at the very least, she'll appreciate the view and the tree itself. That would be already enough to not disappoint herself about climbing all the way up.

When Kaya gave him the okay to join her, he smiled widely and took some steps back. "Okay. Thanks. I'd like that. This will be fast and might shake some things up, so hold on tight for a second. I'll be right up."
He got about 20 feet away from the tree and took a run at it. "Here I come!" he warned her before taking off at speed. As he approached the trunk at a 45 degree angle, he did a tic tac manuever, one of the parkour moves he had been practicing recently. He essentially ran up the trunk for two steps before pushing off to the right and grabbing onto the lower branch. He had enough height and momentum from the push off that it allowed him to swing his hips up and over the branch before coming into a resting position on the bottom branch. As predicted, there was quite a bit of rustling of leaves and bouncing of branches, but it all settled quite quickly.
The first thing he noticed was that Kaya was a little higher up, but not too high, just as she had stated. He got his bearings for the moment and looked around, disappointed only momentarily that Salazar Slytherin's ghost was nowhere to be seen in the canopy. "Dang. I would have liked to meet the fellow. He's probably across the pond, haunting Hogwarts' students anyway," and he grinned up at her. Then he took his first real look around.
"You're right and you're also sort of wrong. The view is amazing, but even though I'm not seeing it from a broom, the vantage point is still unique and quite beautiful," and he meant it. It had always been a beautiful tree to look at as he passed it each day, but he thought it may be even more beautiful within its canopy. The trunk was a bit twisted, but its bark seemed kind of smooth. The canopy was not too dense on the inside either, which he would not have suspected given its fullness of shape from down below. The leaves clustered at the end of branches, giving a beautiful, almost manicured shape on the outside. The interior, however, had very few branches criss-crossing or branching off from main limbs, thus fewer leaves. It was almost like being in an elevated leaf tent, he thought. Cool and shady and protected.
"This is actually kind of peaceful in here," he said as he stood and started to climb. "Want to see who can go the highest? Not the fastest, just the highest. Safety first since neither of us has been in here before, but we can play a game along the way if you would like to make it more interesting and informative. We can play a game called Assertions. For each correct assertion we make about the other, and we have to agree to answer honestly, we get to climb up to the next highest limb. We are each also free to not answer any question, for any reason, no explanation necessary. Want to try it? I'll let you go first since climbing this tree was your awesome idea in the first place."

The Snakewood tree

I see. I agree the view is by itself already unique, just like this experience. Do you want to move higher? Kaya took a moment to look around more before her question. It was completely different from broom. She had to admit that here felt more free without risking to distract herself. Somehow it felt with some level of freedom, probably. Kaya looked right in front of her and noticed how great it was actually. She'd never be able to look at so much things from broom ad freely as it was from this tree. Stephen was right. As she looked at him she smiled enthusiastically. Perhaps nothing could break this enthusiasm or at the very least it was rather hard.
As she listened to his offer about climbing and game, Kaya found it as great opportunity to make this climbing even more awesome while still staying safe. It sounds great. You like broom sport.

"Oh, okay. I see you were going for the easy, low-hanging fruit with your assertion, at least to start with huh? Fine." He grinned as he looked at her and nodded a yes in reply to her assertion that he liked broom sports. "You are correct, so onward to the next branch for you, Captain Obvious," he chidingly teased.
Stephen watched her begin her way up to the next branch and began to rub the bottom of his chin with his left index finger, thinking about what assertion he could make that would actually have him learn something about her he did not already know. Knowing so little about her, he decided to just start tossing things out to see what was what with his new, tree-climbing friend.
"Well, it is obvious you are adventurous as you play Quidditch and climb trees with fellows you do not know. You are competitive and smart since you went with the easy assertion you knew the answer to in order to advance your position. So I'm going to go in a completely different direction in an attempt to actually learn something new about you."
Noting that she had chosen to climb the tree in a pair of shorts, which were not the wisest choice when it came to tree climbing as a general rule, and also noting that she had been studying the tree in deep thought before he first approached her, he decided her choice to do so was because the weather offered the opportunity so she was taking advantage of it. If it had been a longstanding wish of hers to climb it, he reasoned she would have studied it already and would have had a plan as to how to accomplish climbing it without the need of a stranger to help her. She also might have worn longer pants. All of it rang rather spur of the moment to him.
"Hmmmm. Coming up with something out the blue is not as easy as you might think, but here goes. I assert that you are more, rather than less, a generally spontaneous person."
He hoped he was right. Right or wrong, he would learn something about her, so that was the winning portion of their little competition for him.

The Snakewood tree

Kaya chuckled and climbed a bit higher. There was nothing wrong with starting with something easy. She had time to think about something harder later.
After giving Stephen some time to think, Kaya looked at him ready to listen. However, what he said next, made her think for a second before answering. Hmm, speaking about today, I'd say you are right. But speaking generally, I prefer to be less spontaneous, though sometimes things happen and I change plans. So, I guess you are more right than wrong, congratulations.
She smiled. It was her turn to think about something to say and she really wanted to know more about him. Judging that you are climbing this tree with someone you don't know, I would suggest that you are a kind person who cares about his friends and helps those who happened to ask for help.
She looked at him thoughtfully. Whether it was true or not, Kaya would at least know more about his personality. As she glanced around and at the sky waiting for the answer, she relaxed and enjoyed the moment. It didn't bother her that prior to this climbing she didn't know him at all. It didn't bother her that even he didn't know her but agreed to do it. It was a great day and a great opportunity for whatever was coming.
