Meeting of girl and her lizard
Accalia was excited, she'd been pulled out of school a little early by her parents to go to Diagon Alley, in particular their destination was the Magical Menagerie, her parents had heard about how she'd absolutely aced her classes in October, and the house points generated therein, as part of the school incentive to drive student participation they'd awarded her a free pet.
And of course, her parents weren't not going to get involved in welcoming the newest member of their family, Accalia's scalp was feeling a little sore by the point they wandered into the pet emporium from her fathers noogies of affection, the large, bearded man chortling and fawning over his small daughter to anyone and everyone who looked like they had the modicum of baring to listen, her mother doing her best to keep him under control.
"Sweetie, you go on into the shop, I will try to wrangle your father" her mother remarked, flexing as she was moving over to the burly man in the middle of accosting the umpteenth passerby, from Accalia's glance it looked as though it were someone he'd already discussed her achievement with, sure she didn't mind the odd boast session... but honestly, this was embarrassing.
Stepping into the store she was bombarded by the sounds of happy animals of all variety, owls hooting from up in the rafters, squeaks of pygmie puffs, rats and ferrets underfoot, the odd meow of a cat, or the croak of a frog, the sound was truly... well... Accalia could only think of it as magnificent, she was truly in an animal paradise and from deep within a kindly voice called out that they'd be with her shortly, they were just feeding the lizards.
Instead of waiting for them to come to her, Accalia latched onto the direction of the sound, navigating her way through the throngs, only to stumble across one of the owners of the menagerie, a kindly looking soul who was feeding a rather large baby bearded dragon a large worm.
"Oh, sorry dear, I was not expecting you to come back, now that you are, mind helping me feed this little one?" the shopkeep remarked, passing the worms to Accalia, she looked at them and then nodded, pulling one out of the bowl.
"This dragon here, I must say, eats more than all the others combined" the shopkeep shook their head in affection as Accalia placed the worm out in her fingers, exactly as the keeper showed her, the bearded dragon blinked one eye, then the next, before snatching the worm with its sticky tongue, the tongue lightly brushing against her finger and causing her to giggle, an odd noise from the usually more rambunctious, tomboyish preteen.
As she was moving her fingers away, the lizard placed its front right paw on her index finger, her eyes met the one of the lizards focusing in on her, and a connection zapped down her spine, she knew, even though she could take any, that this is the one it had to be, that and the bearded dragons color pattern reminded her of her fathers beard, bright red with shades of grey and lighter orange spaced between.
"Its amazing!" she remarked to the keeper who had been watching with an almost knowing eye.
"Is it a boy or girl?" the keeper laughed at this question, lifting the lizard up and showing her how the bumps under the tail could confirm the gender, showing she was female.
"I will take her then! She's awesome" Accalia remarked, lifting the lizard how the keeper showed her.
"Very well then little one, you'll need to name her then" the kindly person remarked, stroking gently down the lizards spine, almost saddened to see it go though knowing it was to a good home.
"Remira! She just feels like a Remira right? Or Remi for short?" Accalia remarked holding Remi up in the air, the lizard grabbing hold of her hands and lazing casually.
"Remira is the fiercest of the dragons! She has gotta join the Avalons" Accalia declared, 'fierce?' the shopkeeper thought, looking to the lizard, then giving a shrug, not as far as the keeper was concerned, they'd not sell fierce critters to students, but if it made the girl happy.
Accalia's parents finally joined her in the store, only to meet the new addition, her father taking Remi gently from her looked the female lizard over.
"Remi! Perfect name, absolute darling of a dragon! And soon she will be the dragon queen!" her father declared, the shop-keeper raised their eyes, 'not just the child then, well, at least it looks like Remi will be going to a good home' they thought, then helped ring Remi up.
