Carson dragged his trunk from the room next door, setting it down on the creaky wood floors with a large thud and an even larger sigh. He glanced around the cabin, it looked the exact same as the one they’d just been in with the girls. They’d decided to split up, and that was fine with Carson, as they’d all be spending time together anyways. He glanced behind him, where Oliver, Mac, and Dale were following with their trunks. He, like before, immediately went for the top bunk, this one being next to the wall they shared with the girls. He was really looking forward to the Summer: especially with the whole “Cabin Wars” thing that was going on. They’d have to plan somewhere else, as the girls could probably here them through the wall. Carson grabbed a pillow and a heavy quilt from his trunk, even though the underwater cabins were kind of hot and humid. He’d get used to it, right? Hopefully, at least. He turned to the rest of his cabin, who had gotten through the doors by now. “I’m gonna go to the barbecue later today, are any of you down to come with me? I think Maggie’s coming too, and we can meet the other people in her cabin.”

Oliver trudged along behind Carson, smiling at his quick glance towards him and the others that followed. Oliver hauled his suitcase with him and set it down near one of the bunk beds, sighing heavily, he sat on the bottom bunk, deciding it was his. He collapsed onto the soft bed beneath him, the mattress springs squeaking as his weight finally settled. The sun was in full beam and the day was humid, the cabin felt safe and cozy inside, rather small, but Oliver preferred this. He liked being close to nature, as well as people he knew, and people he didn't. His feelings were tied down the middle, excited about the prospect of meeting new friends, but also rather nervous about it.
Oliver heard a rustling and Carson stood in the middle of the cabin.
"I’m gonna go to the barbecue later today, are any of you down to come with me? I think Maggie’s coming too, and we can meet the other people in her cabin."
"I'll come." Oliver said now sitting up, with a smile.
He stretched his arms behind his head and yawned, glancing out the window.
He thought about the idea of going for a little wander around the campgrounds, he knew it would certainly calm some of his nerves.
Oliver sprung up and headed toward the doorway.
"I'm just going to have a wander, won't be too long." He nodded toward the others and he was out the doorway, already taking in the grounds around him.

Dale picked up the hefty suitcase and followed Carson to their new cabin. Apparently, Maggie had invited too many people to join her cabin, so now they were splitting up, boys in one and girls in another. They mentioned a prank war, just the thought of living the entire in constant fear of being pranked scared Dale. As he followed Carson through the halls of the boat until they reached their new cabin. It was identical to the other one. "I’m gonna go to the barbecue later today, are any of you down to come with me? I think Maggie’s coming too, and we can meet the other people in her cabin." Dale was still unsure if he wanted to go or not. On one hand, it could be fun and dale liked barbecue food, but on the other hand, Dale was already tired. Meeting all of these new people and being thrown in the middle of a friend group had deprived him of all of his energy. He wanted to stay in and read a book. But sadly his love of barbecue had won over. As he slid his suitcase underneath the bed Carson was under he asked the question, "Umm, what time is the barbecue?" HE hadn't been to a barbecue all year long and was really looking forward to enjoying some freshly cooked burgers and other Barbecue foods, just the thought of all the foods made his stomach growl and his mouth water. He was almost tempted to just go look for it himself, but the fear of getting lost won the battle, hopefull Carson knew where and when it was.

Carson flashed Oliver a quick grin as he let everyone know where he’d be: Carson guessed his true curious Hufflepuff nature was shining through, huh? Carson shrugged as Dale asked what time the barbecue would be, he honestly had no clue. He walked over to his trunk and threw open the lid, rummaging through the mess of clothes, Muggle candy that his mum had sent him for the summer, and a few bits and bobs from Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. He grabbed a lollipop as he pushed his things around, quickly removing the “mystery flavor” wrapping and popping the white candy into his mouth, biting the stick with his teeth. He grinned as rn flavor met his tongue: cherry, his favorite. Today was his lucky day. He grabbed another stray lollipop and turned around, one hand still holding his trunk lid open. Tossing it to Dale, he turned back to rummaging through his trunk, and he commented, “I’m gonna head over once I find— ah!” he exclaimed, holding up his prize, consequently causing his trunk to close with a loud slam! He jumped back despite himself, bouncing the tennis ball he’d been looking for on the floor and running one hand through his hair, messing it up more than it already was. He grinned at Dale once again, still holding the lollipop between his teeth. He walked backwards towards the door, “I’ll see you around, right? I’ll make sure to tell you when the barbecue is, at least when I find out.” he drummed his fingers on the doorframe as he spoke, hopping off to the room next door with a quick grin.

Dale caught the Lolipop and inspected it, orange, his favorite flavor. He unpacked it and put it into his mouth. Carson was gone out of the room, and Oliver was also gone. He unpacked some of his things and took in the room. It was small and cozy the window let in a sufficient amount of natural light. And the window also displayed a very pretty scene outside. Upon staring out the window for 2 minutes he suddenly felt stuffy indoors. And he was hungry, his stomach was growling like an angry lion. So he wrote up a note for when Carson when he returned, so not to worry him. "I'm going to go find some food, ill be back later." the taped the note to his bed and changed into some better-suited clothes for the heat, a pair of jeans and a white v-neck, he hoped it was'ent too hot outside. He wondered out of the room, walking down the hallway looking for the exit. He found the exit, it was a bit hotter than he would have preferred. But hopefully, a bit of shade would alleviate the suns rays. As he stood there a familiar smell came to him, he followed his nose all the way to the barbecue

6:03 AM
Early to bed and early to rise. Even without his alarm clock, Mac awoke at the very crack of dawn, like he had some kind of internal clock built into his head after years of getting up so early every morning. He sat up in his bunk, yawning quietly as he stretched his arms in the air. He didn't spend much time in the cabin. The air in the boat was stagnant and humid, while the steady rocking of the water underneath the boat did nothing to help his seasickness. He usually left at an early hour while the other boys were still asleep, spending most of his time on the Campgrounds.

It seemed, however, that mother nature had different plans for Mac that morning. He could hear the pitter-patter of rain up above him, knocking down on the deck hard enough that he might've mistaken it for a stampede of duck-sized horses. Obviously, going out in that mess wasn't an option. Had it been a light sprinkle, Mac wouldn't have minded it so much, but this was a downpour. Maybe he was a wizard, but he was fairly certain that being struck by lightning would kill him just as quickly as it would anyone else.

Drearily, Mac rubbed the sleep from his eyes, all the while wondering what he would do now that his plans for the day had been rained out. (If only he'd thought to bring his 3DS to Hogwarts...) With a sigh, he crawled out of bed. He was still wearing his pajamas, of course; they were blue with white stripes, made from soft cotton. He tried to stay as quiet as possible, as not to disturb the other boys as he made his way over to his trunk in the corner. Carefully, he undid the latches and opened up the chest. Underneath a small pile of unfolded clothes was a stack of books; some were for his summer reading, while others were novels that he brought from home for a rainy day such as this.

After a moment of consideration, he retrieved one of the books, holding it close to his chest with one hand while he slowly shut the lid of the trunk with the other, careful not to make too much noise. With a sigh, he sat down on the edge of the trunk and cracked the book open. It was a paperback copy of The Shining. The spine was just about to split in two, while the pages were brittle, dog-eared and stained from years of use. Someone else might call it damaged, but Mac called it well-loved. Tired blue eyes scanned over the words as he flipped back to the very first page, while the sound of the rain against the walls of the cabin threatened to lull him back to sleep.
