Sisters? Blood wise yes. Relationship wise? Doubtful

Date: Sunday, September 10, 2023
Emily had been down in her common room writing and looking through some dark art books. The young Slytherin girl was quite interested in them and it was easy to find books on them in the Hogwarts Library.
Around 3 o' clock, Emily realized she was hungry so she stood up and stretched pushing her book in her bang and swinging it to her shoulder. She went to the kitchen and asked the elves for a snack. They obliged and gave her a plate with eclairs and small ham sandwiches. She took the plate and went to head back to her common room but decided against it. She had been indoors most of the time. It was time to go get some fresh air. So she turned around and headed outside.
The air was fresh and warm with the sun out shining beautifully on the lake. Emily headed to sit next to the lake and on her way she caught a sniff of a very familiar smell. Emily swiveled her head left and right and looked for the person who belongs to that smell. There she was. Died red hair and slightly taller than Emily herself. Linda Ramirez. Her sister. The two didn't get along very well as she did not believe in the blood status. And did not like the Dark Arts much anyway. Which caused tension between the two.
Emily hesitated for a split second before going over to her. "Sister." she said in a slightly cold but polite tone.

So today she took some cakes and biscuits with lemon water and went out to sit close to the lake. It was nice here and she enjoyed spending most of her time outside of the castle. Especially if the weather was good enough for it.

She took a bite of biscuit when she heard someone approaching and heard her sister's voice. Hi, sis. Wanna join? These are from our mom. She didn't hate her sister. But Linda couldn't understand why Emily was so against other blood statuses. And giving that second year already had some friends who were not pureblood, that could be difficult.
Do you like Hogwarts? She asked quietly. What would happen if one of her friends would come closer? Would Emily try to hurt them? That would make a fight between sisters and Linda didn't want it to happen. But how would she ask her sister about it in a careful way? Perhaps some time later Linda will find a way. Did you happen to read something about Parselmouths? She didn't get a chance to practice her understanding of snakes in Hogwarts yet. As well as she didn't manage to find something else interesting, but maybe Emily would know more since she was closer to their father's parents.

Emily gave her sister a slight smile. “Sure.” She sat down next to her sister and reached for one of the treats. Her sister and her weren’t that close but they still hung out sometimes. She shrugged at Linda’s question. “It’s good so far. Not complaining.” Emily sighed to herself. She hadn’t made a lot of friends here. Only two. But one had died. So she was left with one and they had both been busy not being able to hang out together.
“Parselmouths? Yeah why?” Emily asked looking at her sister warily. It was kinda weird that Linda had asked about Parselmouths. “Salazar Slytherin was a Parselmouth. And so was Voldemort and Harry Potter.” She shrugged and went back to their biscuits. As she thought about parselmoiths she thought of something. “There could be some parslemouths here.” She said looking up at her older sister, still wondering why she asked about them. She bit her lip and kept her thoughts to herself as she nibbled on a biscuit. Linda had never really been into the Dark Arts like Emily was . Emily’s family was who she grew up with. Not Linda or her brother. She missed it though. Hanging with family is the best.

Linda glanced at Emily. I want to know more. Uncle taught me to understand the language but I can't speak in it. So I'd like to know more. You spent more time with grandparents, so I thought you could know something I don't.
She wasn't sure if it was a good idea to ask her sister about it. But she already was here and so would just let it be. Linda and her brother spent most of the time with parents, visiting grandparents not so often. Unlike Emily who seemed to grow more like them.
Linda sighed. She was never close to Emily and even now, she had a hard time to talk about friends. Was she expecting her sister to hurt them if she knew? Linda didn't really know the reason why. However, one thing was certain, she had things she would never share.
Soon Linda found herself not quite able to find anything to say to Emily. Well, at least they never pretended to be close to each other. Maybe it would change some day, but for now it was as it was. Linda missed her brother sometimes, but was happy overall. She glanced at Emily once more and decided to leave as soon as her sister will answer. There was nothing she could find to talk about else so there was no reason to bother Emily from whatever she was doing.
