25th Oct, 12.50 am: just before class
The rushed footsteps echoed through the empty halls of the basememt, as Sabrina ran down the hallway, one hand gripping the strap of her bag, the other her cauldron. She got so invested in a book on Hippogriffs that she completaly forgot about school, and it was her first class of Potions, too! She jogged down the last set of stairs, taking them by two, quickly smoothing out her robes as she reached the stone framed entrance. She held her breath, pressing her ear to the dark doors.

Please don't be there yet, please don't be there yet!

She exhaled, her shoulders slumbing in relieve as she heared muffled chatter. The lecture hasn't begun yet. Calmer now, she entered the classroom, looking around. Most of the students had taken their seats already, some of her fellow Ravenclaws giving Sabrina a smile or small wave as she walked by.

She returned the greetings, making her way to the very first row which was, to Sabrinas delight, still mostly unoccupied. The long desks stood in two rows, each made for three students to fit comfortably with a lot of free space to make the potions. Sabrina decided to sit at the left side, closest to the aile, incase the professor was a walker and she'd need to turn often to see them.

She placed her cauldron down on the desk. It was well taken care off, nicely polished, even tho obviously already used before. After pulling out her book, quill, ink and parchment next, she looked to aside at the Slytherin girl standing next to her.

"Hi, I am Sabrina! Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short. Its so nice to meet you. What's your name?"

She adressed her with a smile, offering her a hand.

─────The stone corridors of Hogwarts echoed with a medley of laughter, chatter, and the myriad sounds of students forging connections over shared lunches. Sakura navigated her way through the bustling throng, her dark hair which danced lightly with her swift movements. A few stray strands whipped playfully across her made-up face as she deftly avoided bumping into her schoolmates.

With each step, her heart trembled in synchrony with her excited thoughts about the upcoming Potions class. Classrooms filled with the scent of bubbling infusions and the faint sound of stirring spell craft always seemed to beckon her with a unique blend of trepidation and thrill. Located in the dungeon—a somewhat intimidating aspect of the Potions classroom but a fact she had gotten used to considering she was a Slytherin. It was said there might be echoes of centuries past lingering in the air. Rusted relics and strong-smelling ingredients filled the shelves, infusing a bit of danger into the alluring mystery of potion-making.

After squinting through the crowd Sakura finally pushed open the heavy wooden door that led to the classroom. Inside, the air was cool and almost damp, but saturated in an atmosphere of vibrant learning and untapped potential. She was greeted by verdant cauldrons bubbling over ancient flames and shelves filled with ingredients both exotic and wondrous.

Sakura quickly surveyed the rows of heavy wooden desks, each coated with age-old scratches that whispered secret conversations to anyone curious enough to listen. Many desks were already occupied by her classmates; some exchanged dogging glances at bubbling cauldrons, while others scrambled to pull out parchment and quills. She spotted an empty desk against the wall and felt a sudden surge of relief wash over her.

That particular corner of the room was dimmer but had a more earthly embrace, a nest of shadows that embraced her quiet spirit. As she rounded the desk to set up her station, a rush of excitement bubbled beneath her calm exterior. She lifted her cauldron onto the desk and took a seat behind it.

She had just settled down when a girl slid in beside her and began talking excitedly introducing herself. "Oh uhm...My name is Sakura Kato. Nice to meet you Sabrina." She gave Sabrina a friendly smile.

Sabrina kept her hand held out a little longer before realising that the girl - Sakura - wouldn't take it, letting it fall to her side again.

"Sakura"

She echoed, a little slower, as if commiting the name to her memory, absentmindedly tapping her index finger to her bottom lip before meeting Sakuras eyes again.

"Thats a lovely name."

She nodded to herself, sliding down into her own seat, facing Sakura. She obviously didn't plan on stoping at just the introductions.

"I don't think I've seen you around - which isn't really all that surprising, as we probably have very differently schedules."

Sabrina spoke, almost as if to herself. Her excitement for the class found its ways into her speech and expression, smile wide and tone eager, yet friendly.

"Anyways, how do you find Hogwarts? Oh, and what about the sorting? Did you end up in the house you wanted to be in?"

It was nice to meet someone new, especially someone who wasn't in her house, but in the same year. Don't get her wrong, she loves her Ravenclaw peers and the house itself - sometimes actually being a little too house-proud. But most of their school experiences were quiete similiar. Talking to a student from a different house almost felt as if entering a new world - or rather an alternative verison of her own.

Yes, they all went to the same school, but their common rooms and dorms, the parts they were usually in and even house mentality, were all different.

"I had no idea where I'd end up! Mom is a Hufflepuff, and dad's a Ravenclaw - like me - but they said that you can be never sure.

Still, I am very happy with where I am. I can't imagine being in a different house."

She watched the girl's hand fall to her side. As much as she would have wanted to she had learned not to shake a stranger's hand. She had noticed that the person didn't wash their hands after using to restroom and she had spent the next half hour in the bathroom scrubbing her hands and arms and quite literally everything else. She had also refused to come out until her mother had brought her a new change of clothes. To Sakura everything on her had been contaminated with that person's germs.

Sabrina echoed Sakura's name as she tapped her finger against her chin. The girl was probably trying to remember it. It wasn't that hard a name but some people had difficulties. "You can just call me Saki if that's easier for you to remember. It's a nickname one of my old friends gave me." Sakura offered another smile to the girl.

Sabrina complimented her name before sliding down into her seat and turning her body towards Sakura. "Well the different schedules is one reason. Another reason would be because we are in two very different houses. You see I am a Slytherinand you are a Ravenclaw.

"Hogwarts is fun. A decent amount of homework. And no I actually wanted to be in Gryffindor like my mother. A nice person like me has no business being in Slytherin but clearly that darn Sorting hat thinks otherwise. " She clicked her tongue in annoyance and rolled her eyes.

Her brows rose up as the girl mentioned her nickname. Okay, Sabrina wasn't having a particulary hard time remembering the slytherin's name, she was bad at remembering names all together, thank you very much. She was already opening her mouth, about to tell her just that, promptly swallowing her words again as the girl continued.

She mimicked her posture, swiveling on her seat to face her too, which brought a smile to Sabrina's face. She nodded as the girl commented on their different schedules, finding it mildly amusing when she pointed out that they are from different houses as well.

Speaking of houses, Saki was just talking about her supposed misfortune in getting sorted into a wrong one, her annoyance on the matter obvious from her tone and the roll of her eyes. Sabrina humms in response, her head tilting to aside as she thinks about it. She didn't even think to think wheather she belonged in Ravenclaw. She just assumed she did, assumed that it was the best place for her to be in as the hat was magical and its sole purpose was to sort them to where they'd thrive the most but.. was it possible that it could make a mistake?

The way Saki spoke of her house surprised her, too. She understood that not everyone was as enthusiastic about their house as her, but she hasn't met anyone who outright didn't like their house before.

"I don't know," she shrugged, straightening her head again, "I don't see why you can't be nice and a slytherin at the same time."

Of course she had heared the rumors, everyone who steped into this school had. There was a certain - stigma, surrounding the house. Prejudices formed based on some of the members who didn't turn out well, but she assumed that those were just that, prejudices.
